Xigbar stood alone in silence, his gaze focused on something far outside the window. His robe was unzipped and hung loosely on his shoulders, revealing the badly scarred torso beneath.
When he was alone, he could let out the side of himself that he dared not let anyone else see. Xigbar wasn't a leader, he didn't want to be a leader. That doesn't mean he was above flaunting his rank over the other members, he rather enjoyed that; but Xigbar much prefered his second rank to being first. There he didn't have to think, didn't have to second guess his decisions, he could jump straight into battle without having to worry about the consequences. He did not relish Xemnas' job, nor did he want it. But since Xemnas was not here, he was stuck as the leader, and he was not about to let Saix take command.
Had he been in second rank, he would have just kicked both Axel and Saix's a**, told them both to shut the ******** up, and not given it a second thought. But a leader could not think so narrowly, he had to deal with everyone, not just a few.
Desperate for a release of the tension that shook his body, he curled his paw into a fist and nearly punched through the wall. Pain shot through his paw and radiated up his arm, but he ignored it. A heavy sigh mingled with a growl escaped him as he slumped against the wall.
"Xemnas, where are you?"

Demyx was depressed. So soon after making a friend, they had been cruelly ripped apart, forced to stay away from each other until Axel's servitude to Saix was over with.
Demyx could only hope that was soon...
But until then he would try to manage, try to find ways to occupy his time so he didn't totally lose it. With a sigh the young Audio trudged along, lost in both thoughts of his past, and of the future. He walked in silence a while, no real destination in mind. It must have simply been fate that led him to the room Xigbar stood in, staring so silently out the window. Demyx looked up, watching him for a moment.
Demyx's ears flattened back, thoughts tumbling through his mind. Xigbar had said he found him...he never did hear the full explanation, since he was kind of busy trying to protect Axel at the time. Maybe now was a good time to ask? But the young one couldn't help but feel some anger towards the scarred canine. He had, afterall, been the one that allowed Saix and Axel to fight, and in the end allowed Saix to separate he and Axel. Demyx still didn't understand the reasoning behind this, no matter how much he puzzled over it. All he could see was they had been separated thanks to some stupid fight, and now he was suffering for it.
Maybe talking would be good? But, within the anger, there was fear. He was still tired from the earlier fight, and besides...he wasn't a fighter to begin with. He preferred running, hiding, hoping everything worked out without force. It was just the way he was...not everyone was cut out to be a warrior. He didn't want to start a fight with Xigbar, but the mere thought of talking to their current 'leader' had Demyx trembling a bit. If only he knew Xigbar didn't really mean him any harm...
Slowly, Demyx stepped inside the room, crossing the distance between himself and the scarred one so deep in his thoughts. He was silent for now, thoughts still tumbling in his mind but no words forming. The only noise he brought with him was the slight jingle of the chains on his robe moving around. That, in itself, might be enough to alert Xigbar to his presence.

Xigbar had been too lost in his thoughts to notice Demyx. As he stood there, his paw against the way, head lowered; he did not appear the bold harsh leader he had before. Now he might have seemed almost human, though he struggled to remember what that had been like.
Ears flicked, and the older audio was snapped from his thoughts by the sound of jingling. Damn! That was careless of him, to let someone walk in on him without him noticing. He instantly tensed, quicklly lifting his head and hastened to compose himself into the leader again.
But when he looked up, it was Demyx standing there. Well, that was alright then, it still wasn't smart of him, if it had been Saix it would have been disasterous; but Demyx was alright.
Relaxing a bit, Xigbar lowered his arm and turned to face Demyx.
"You wanted something?"
There was no harshness in his tone, it was a simple question. He knew Demyx had questions for him, he could almost guess what they were, so what did he want to know first?

Demyx tensed as the other turned, ready to flee the room in a moment's notice. But Xigbar seemed...calmer this time around. No hostility, just a mere question. The young one let some of the tension go, but he kept his guard up, just in case.
"Erm..yes sir..." He went to move forward more, close the distance so that talking would be easier. But innocent green eyes soon found their way to the battle scarred torso of Xigbar, and Demyx found himself stepping away instead of closer. "I....er..." He struggled now. It was rude to stare, he knew that, but the scars... What hells had Xigbar been through to earn himself all of those? How many fights had he been in? How many foes had he possibly slaughtered in the heat of battle?
He shook his head. It wasn't his right to ask that sort of thing, no matter how curious he was. But they still creeped him out a bit... The patch and face scar were one thing. Bax, afterall, had his own blind eye, thanks to some old enemy that still lit a fire of hatred in Bax's mind. But, to Demyx's knowledge, those were the only scars really marking his body...unless one wanted to count the target, however he had gotten that. Xigbar's scarred up torso was just...freaky.
He struggled on, trying to form a question besides 'how the heck did you get all those?!'. "I...." He sighed, this wasn't getting anywhere fast.

The older canine would have been annoyed with anyone else, he wasn't the most patient man, but he was far more tolerant of Demyx than anyone else. Still as it was he was wishing Demyx would just spit out his question, and then he realized where Demyx was looking. Oh...he'd forgotten.
Pulling his robe over himself, he hastily turned around, his paws fumbling at the zipper. Well that was rather akward, he normally didn't let anyone see those, let alone one so fragile as Demyx. Maybe it was odd that he'd had his robe open in the first place, and for the life of him he couldn't remember why he had. Maybe he's just wanted to remember...what it was like to be human.
Pushing his thoughts from his head, tail flicking lightly behind him he spoke again without turning around as he tried to fasten his robe.
"You can ask me, I don't bite..."

Demyx struggled a moment longer, trying to push the scars from his mind and form questions before Xigbar grew tired of his stuttering. Then, all at once, the flood of questions came.
"...What.....what did you mean by find me? And why did you let Saix and Axel fight? And better yet...why did you let Saix separate me and Axel? He's been a lot friendlier than any of the rest of you!"
Demyx whined, ears flattening back more against his head, but he still wasn't done.
"Do you have any idea why we're here? Who we are? How we got here? I only remember some feeling of disappointment, and pain...like Axel said, it seems bad...but I dunno what it is."
Poor Demyx, finally opens up and he simply has no idea where to start. His questions were spoken hastily, little time between each for Xigbar to stop him, let alone give him an answer.

Having finally managed to fasten his robe, Xigbar turned around again to face Demyx. He was about to answer the first question when Demyx spurted out the second, then the third. When he thought there was finally a break, he started to speak again, only for Demyx to speak again.
Realizing he may as well make himself comfortable, the older canine settled back against the window, taking a seat on the sill and crossing his arms as the young one spewed his questions.
When Demyx finally fell silent, Xigbar just looked at him, blinking. Well, that was certainly a lot of questions to ask at once. It was a bit overwhelming, and for a moment he wondered where to begin. May as well start from the top.
"I found you, recruited you into the organization, before any of us ended up here," he indicated the area in general with his paw, wherever the hell here was, "that's why you're number 9." He sighed, the next two questions were the hardest.
"I let them fight now because if the tension kept building between them they would have killed each other later on and I wouldn't have been able to stop them. I have to be leader and keep the group together and make sure everyone knows that Xemnas is the superior. I didn't expect that outcome, but I couldn't back down. If I don't hold my position, I won't be able to lead, and then others like Saix would be able to take over. I didn't intend for you to suffer for it."
He looked down, thinking over the last 3 questions, two of which he had no idea how to answer. The last thing he remembered was the castle, something about a key and a door. But it seemed something had happened since then, he just couldn't remember what.
"I don't know why we're here, or how. I remember the castle, there were 13 of us...no, some were missing...after that it's a blank. We are organization 13, we're...nobodies."

Demyx kept his silence, thinking over the new information as it was offered to him. As Xigbar's explanation came to an end and the scarred one fell silent, Demyx piped up again.
"So...you...original member guys, gathered up the rest of us...and you found me after..." He thought for a moment, recalling their so called numbers. "After Saix and Axel joined?" Demyx sighed, looking at his hand as he formed a IX from a bubble. So that shape...er...number, was his place in the Organization? Well he guessed it was nice he was close to Axel...and that this number two would think him someone worthy of joining this group. It was funny, after Xigbar had told him he found him, and the true meaning behind his number, Demyx felt...better, more like he belonged.
The bubble disappeared as Demyx resumed thinking over the new information. "Well I don't want to see either of them dead...even if Saix is a jerk. He won't leave me alone! Keeps calling me stupid and weak and..." He sighed, why dwell on the bad? "Anyways...this won't be a long punishment will it? I miss Axel..."
Demyx walked closer to Xigbar, feeling a bit more comfortable now that the scars were covered. Out of sight, out of mind. "Nobodies? But...we are somebody...I mean if we were nobodies, we wouldn't be talking to each other now." It was obvious Demyx didn't quite get the true meaning behind what Xigbar was saying.

Xigbar nodded in reponse to Demyx's next question.
"Mmhmm, though Saix kinda wandered up on his own."
Falling silent again, he simply watched for a moment, yellow eye fixed on Demyx. This was all a lot to take in, for Demyx, for himself, and it was a lot to answer. It was all compounded by the fact that Xigbar didn't have all the answers, he wasn't meant to have all the answers, yet now he was expected to.
"I don't want them to die either..."
He sighed, standing to his feet and turning his head to look out the window again before speaking, his words barely audible.
"Nobodies...left behind when somone lost their heart."
After a moment's silence, Xigbar walked to Demyx's side. He laid a reassuring paw on the younger's shoulder, a faint smile on his maw.
"You are special, you remember what it was like to be human. Saix doesn't remember that," he looked away, "I can't remember anymore either."
His paw slid from Demyx's shoulder, arm falling to his side again as he stepped toward the door. Pausing he turned and looked back.
"You hungry? Care to join me in the kitchen?"

Ears perked, Demyx took in every word that Xigbar said.
"Left behind? When someone lost their heart? But...." He looked down at his chest, confused. "If...we don't have hearts...how are we here?...."
The paw on his shoulder made him cringe a mere moment. But it was a friendly gesture, so he quickly calmed down. "I'm...special?" The words brought a genuine smile to his face. Saix had been harping on him so long, it was a relief to hear that for once, he was slightly better off than the others. "You guys don't remember? I mean...I know we're missing a lot of stuff...but I didn't think I was special..."
Demyx turned as Xigbar left, pausing a moment before answering. "...I could go for some food myself!" He grinned, following the older Audio.

Xigbar was sure he would have more questions to answer later, he could see it in Demyx's eyes. He would want to know more, push for more detailed answers, but now was not the time. The scarred one was tired, and had confused Demyx enough for one night. For now, the thought of food was a welcome distraction.
He paused just outside the door, waiting for Demyx to catch up before moving off down the hall. His eye moved from side to side, searching the open rooms until he found what he was looking for, the kitchen.
Once they were in the room, Xigbar wasted no time searched throughthe various cupbords for something to munch. After opening one door he found a box of cookies, took one for himself, and then offered the box to Demyx.
"Want one?"
Having passed the box off to the Demyx, and with his own cookie in his mouth, he opened the fridge door and began rumaging for something more substantial. Hmmm...a sandwich sounded good.

Xigbar was tired of answering questions for now, Demyx could see that. But it didn't stop him from thinking of more. He'd just have to ask later, that was all.
Demyx trailed along behind Xigbar, silent for the trip. He, however, perked up immediately after being given the box of cookies. "Sure!" Tail swishing happily, Demyx plopped down into a chair and immediately started munching on cookies. Screw substantial food, cookies were good enough for him.

While Demxy was scarfing the cookies, Xigbar searched the fridge until he found what he wanted. Turning around, he set an armful of meat, cheese, bread, and all the trimmings on the table.
When his eye fell on Demyx, he just shook his head and couldn't help but laugh. Cookie monster...
Opening the various packages, Xigbar occupied his paws with making himself a sandwich. He was hungry, after all he hadn't eaten since...well he couldn't remember, so it was a big sandwich.
"You want something to go with those?"

Still munching away on cookies, Demyx blinked up at Xigbar. He, thankfully, took the time to swallow before answering. "Erm.....sure!" Eh why not...cookies were good, but it wouldn't hurt to get something else in his stomach too.
Question answered, he took another cookie out of the box and munched on it. Mmmm...these sure were good. Why didn't he go looking for cookies earlier?

So Demyx liked cookies...a lot, Xigbar would have to remember that and make sure there were always enough cookies around. But cookies were not enough, so when he was done making his own sandwich, he made another for Demyx.
Paws still for a moment as he thought. He wasn't sure how hungry Demyx was or how big a sandwich he should make him. Oh well, if it was too much, he could just save it for later.
Having finished the two large sandwiches with ham, turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomatto, and a bit mustard; he searched for two plates, cut the sandwiches in half, and set Demyx's in front of him.
"Here you go, enjoy."
Finally taking a seat himself with his own sandwich, Xigbar took a large bite, hungrily devouring it.
