today was my birthday... i hung out with friends. speaking of which, one of my friends is a girl, and she's really pretty.... but she always calls herself fat and ugly... how can i help her feel pretty without saying "you're pretty"- i say this because she's already been told that she is beautiful but the idea never seems to stick.

The only reason I even remembered Donovan's (theallpowerfull) birthday is because it's the day before my sister's - and he's one of my best friends. XD

About your friend...is she: fishing for attention or seriously lacking in self esteem If it's the second one, is it just because of her age or did someone specifically make her feel that way? Again, if it's the second one, was it in the peer pressure sort of way or the direct verbal abuse sort of way?

no, it's not the first one, she is not the type... she's just not confident, and i don't think it's because of age... she just doesn't think that she's pretty. it may have been caused by someone, but likely in a subconcious way if at all.
