Precognition, otherwise known as Claircognition, is essentially the "knowing of something before it happens". It's like when you're sitting around the house on a dreary Sunday and you look over to the phone as you think idlly to youself "*insert name here* is going to call." only moments before the aforementionned person actually does call. Needless to say, it can happen in any number of scenarios and many people probably experience it, though I'd say that many of those people pass it off as mere coincidence. Others say that it's simply intuition.

I've had precognitive moments in the past, and the most recent one took place only hours earlier today.

I had been to a market of sorts, a "Trade Show" if thou wilst, and one particular table caught my eye. This table sold all sorts of baubles and jewellery, but there was one article that just demanded my attention; a pendant with what looks very much like the "All Seeing Eye" symbol of the Illuminati. The only real difference with the pendant compared with the actual symbol, was that instead of a pyramid, the eye was set on a silver triangle.

Basically, if you took the hovering top of the above pyramid, and made it a silver triangle with an artificial eye added to it, you have the necklace. However, I'm wandering offtopic.

In any event, there were only three necklaces like that. I had wandered around a bit more, after having told the vendor that I would probably be back for the necklace (since it had piqued my curiotisty an all.). After awhile, I suddenly had a nagging urge to return to the table, thinking that if I didn't hurry, someone would end up buying the necklace that caught my eye(no pun intended). I returned promptly to the kiosk, only to find out that the other two necklaces were just sold and I had arrived just in time to purchase the last one. It was crazy. But I also felt strangely elated that I somehow 'knew' that. It's like that feeling you get when you tell someone that you "told them so", just that you've said it to yourself and that any doubt that you may have had prior to that, are dissolved by the sole fact that you know you were right.

It may not be much, but I'm pretty sure that was precognition. Either that, or I'm just crazy intuitive. Though, some may argue that psychic ability is extended intuition, or that intuition is a psychic ability..@.@;;

In any event, as you may have guessed, this thread is intended for the discussion of precognition. Share experiences/stories, opinions, etc.

Note: I'm pretty sure that a thread such as this has not come into existance yet..If not..Off to the Recycle Bin we go!..Either that or Deletionsville..

From my experience, psychic powers of prediction tend to work randomly. Like once, I predicted Pizza Hut breadsticks. No joke.

You see, my friend and I were hanging out at lunch at school, and suddenly I smelled breadsticks. Really strong too. Like I was leaning over a box of them and just smelling that freshly baked breadstick smell. I looked around, but nobody in the room had them. Suddenly, some kid walked through the room, right past us and out the other door while carrying a box of Pizza Hut breadsticks. @.@

But, back onto the topic of precognition...

My mother is more of a clairvoyant than a precog, though there's one event that stands out in my memory quite a bit. This was definately one of her precognitory moments. It was a few years ago, back in grade eight. It was one of those days where there was no school, I think it was a P.D. day or something. Anyway, my mother was going to go do some cleaning at this one house which she normally did cleaning for on the side. She was gone for a part of the morning, then she came home at around..gosh..maybe around ten or eleven. She told me that she was going to go to clean that house. I said alright, I had no intention, or even the desire to go with her. I just wanted to be alone, with the house to myself for a bit. She looked me in the eyes pleadingly, and asked me to go with her. A short while later, there I am in the car with her as we drive to that house. The rest of the day is pretty much a blur. I think I had McDonald's that day for lunch. Anyway, it was evening, probably around 4:00 or 5:00..Maybe even 6:00 when the phone at the house where mom was cleaning rang. It was my father. He wanted us to come home because something happened. We returned home, only to discover that we had suffered a break and enter. Mom had explained to me later that she had a dream about the event happening, and that she somehow knew that it was going to happen that day. What was real creepy was when they caught the guys, it was revealed that they also had a stolen handgun with live ammunition in their possession, quite possibly at the time of the incident. I was so lucky that she dragged me out of the house that day...then that was probably destined to happen..but still..the thought of me possibly having been there at the time is pretty scary.

Another thing worth noting about my mother's random precognition: Back in the days when she used to work in one of the lottery ticket kiosks, she used to be able to tell when someone was gonna win or not. 3nodding

What I have to wonder though, is what exactly causes precognition? Is it simply a heightened intuition telling us to act this way or that way? Or is it something more?

..Then again..Most, if not all psychic power has some mystery surrounding it. It's like why pyrokinesis comes so easily to some, yet to others they have an extremely difficult time making it work. Yet for the same two people, the one who failed at pyrokinesis may be a very powerful clairvoyant and the pyrokinetic may not necessarily find that s/he may not be as adept with clairvoyance as s/he is with pyrokinesis.(Note: Just two random psychic abilities in an attempt to make a working example)

My mother had a dream about my grandmother's death, too. Particularly about the funeral. She even accurately predicted the type of coffin.

I'm pretty sure that she's inherited her abilities from her father. He was able to read tea leaves and normal playing cards. He was also pretty clairvoyant and claircognitive on his own, anyway. I think it was my mother's mother who asked him to do a reading for her once. If I remember the story correctly, he said that something bad was going to happen to two teens that she knew very well that night and it turned out that the two teens ended up in a car crash or something later that night. But, that was years ago. I never ended up getting the chance to meet him, he died long before I was born.

I don't usually have dreams that predict things, I tend to experience randomized telepathy and precognition though. I annoy people so much when they walk up to me and ask me to "Guess what?" and then I tell them exactly what they were about to tell me. I've scared a few people like that. Another thing that I tend to do every once in awhile is when someone is going to ask me something, I'll answer them before they even ask the question. I don't do that often, but every time I do that, the people often say the question they were going to ask anyway and I repeat my answer.

Though, what happened earlier was my first random precognitory moment for awhile, and turned out to be the inspiration to this thread. Heh. Funny how things work out. smile

Umm..Gosh..*has pretty poor ability to remember times* @.@;; ..Maybe 5-5:30 ish? *shrugs* That's just a wild guess.

But Timezones are probably gonna be a significant factor, so it's hard to say. However, the fact that Canada and the US are both on the same calendar datewise..Then I can say the fact that yesterday night was a new moon may be an interesting factor to consider. Maybe the lunar cycle plays a role in this somehow?

I had the urge to walk on the other side of the fence that goes along the sidewalk one day and a guy rode by on his bike hit a bump and hit the fence right where I would have been standing(becuase I would have moved to the side) This was two weeks ago...

yes... precognition... sometimes a warning... sometimes a messege from the future that cannot be stopped...
think about it...

you could have a dream that in the future the mississippy flows south and not north, but there's nothing you can do to reverse the stream...
HOWEVER you could have a dream that a little creek in your backyard got blocked and pick up whatever is blocking it 3nodding

I had a whole day of deja vu after my reiki attunement sweatdrop

sad to say I've never had a lot of interest in precognition...
but one day I shall devote atleast a day to study it! 3nodding

I had a dream about some girl with black hair and purple eyes standing on a mountain in the southwest US (Arizona area desert) With SO much energy sparking around it was scary. And it was:
A) A precog.
OR
B) A sending from someone/something maybe my spirit gaurdians or something...

Because it didn't go away after I woke up...
