Figured what the hey, we need a 2D fighters section, talk about what ever so long as it's about 2D fighters... (Street Fighter, King Of Fighters, Marvel Vs Capcom, Capcom Vs SNK, SNK Vs Capcom, Mortal Kombat, and any other mics. fighters)

Who remembers these fighter games that no one plays much???

Survival Arts (Similar to Mortal Komat, but is a Street Fighter clone)

Time Killers (This is actually a good fighter when given a chance)

Martial Champions (An Anime Fighter Wannabe...)

Tattoo Assassins (This is a very odd fighter, Like Mortal Kombat, but you kill your oppoent with your powered tattoo)

Blood Storm (Anyone remember this game??? Did you know that Daniel Pasena actually modelled for this game??? [The guy who originally played Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1 & 2] Did you also know that this game as over 100 secret taunts???)

Waku Waku 7 (All I got to say is, W-T-F??? This also applies to the Last Boss...W-T-F??? You fight a GIANT RUBBER BLACK BALL, seriously...)

Power Instinct (This is actually a good fighter, I mean, when was the last time you saw a fighter that lets you play a GRANNY???)

TOBAL 1 & 2 (Another decent fighter, this is from Square Soft, go figure)

T.M.N.T. Tournament Fighter (From SNES, now THIS IS A VERY KICK @$$ Fighter, I was really surprised when this game came out. This is a must have, the Genesis version was not as good, but was okay, just because you could play as Casey Jones and April O Neil.)

One Must Fall 2097 (DOS version, this actually a good fighter to have in your collection)

Double Dragon V (From SNES, this was okay, a little on the IFie side, but okay to say teh least. The NEOGEO version was good, even if it was based on the live action movie.)

Street Fighter The Movie (This was an okay fighter, I am not a real fan of Live action characters, but at least you could play as Akuma.)

I am willing to bet that most of you didn't know that Samurai Showdown was in fact, based on a "B" movie from Japan called Samurai Reincarnated. Seriously. This fighter is based on this movie. If anyone can find this movie, would be greatly appreciated. I once saw this movie when I went to play Samurai Showdown (Only because I was in a mood for a cheesie movie, and saw how old the movie was and who made it) When I watche dth movie, I noticed names like Amakusa (Pronounced Ah-MOK-sah) Shiro Tokisada and Jubei, even Honzo was in the movie. When you see this movie, you will be mage surprised, but fare warning, it is MEGA cheesie. What did you expect for a "B" movie made in Japan back in the 80's???)

For the time being, this is just a sample list of info. I hope you will add info to this forum.

I like the king of fighters 97. I am somewhat ok at that game, but I can hardly do any of the combos on the game. Have you ever heared of the dark stalkers series.

It's not your fault, KOF is famous for the hard combos. With time you get them. I start to play KOF NeoWave before long time no play any KOF series and I had difficult to make the combos again at the first 2 days.

That 90's Capcom series? Yeah, I bought Darkstalkers the Chronicle Tower (it was a gathering of all Darkstalkers games) but I didn't like it like I do before on the Arcade. I'm waiting for a new Darkstalkers game cause Capcom is working on the old titles frequently (Megaman X Collection, SF Alpha 3 MAX...)

I have heard about it long time ago, never played. Akuma you said?

Yeah, I think you had to do a code, it's been awhile since I played it, but Akuma rocked (played by Ernie Ray's Jr., the kid who played in Surf Ninja's and was also in Red Sonja)

hey, it blew my mind to when I first saw it for the first time, a month after the movie was out. At first I thought I was seeing things, but upon closer inspection, sure enough, showed a small clip of Van Damn doing Guildes Flash Kick and then showed the actual playable character in the game doing the same move. Now, of course Akuma was not in the movie, so I was even more surprised to see that they found someone to play Akuma, just because. biggrin

They even made this game for PSX and SEGA SATURN. That should tell you something.

Oh, no doubt about it, the movie should belong in the "B" budget, not "A" budget. As for the game, it's not bad, but it's just done in bad taste. Since the game is played with Anime style characters, they should have stayed Anime style. Everyone knows using live actors just doesn't cut it anymore. Mortal Kombat was the limit, and no one else should have had to degrade themselves by using live actors for characters.

crying It's such a shame that Capcom had to stoop this low for Street Fighter The Movie fighting game.

I love watching the SF movie just to continually laugh at it.

Anyway, I feel like such a baby because when SF came out way back when I was at most 4 years old. And I played it with my cousin who was 11 at the time and he beat me over and over again with Ryu (I was either Cammy or Chun-Li).

Now that I'm older, I want to begin getting into it, so I really want to get the SF Anniversary collection game. 3nodding

Anyway, during the same time, I had a Genesis with MK I and although I wasn't that great, I had fun with it. I have MK 1-3 on Genesis and I'm getting better with it now, but I personally think that since I was so young, I missed out on the good 2D fighters and was immediately thrusted into the 3D world (i.e. I have Virtua Fighter 1 for the 32X).

You'll like the SF Anniversary Collection, more than likely. 3nodding

I have all three MK games as well, but on the SNES. xd Johnny Cage was always my favorite character to use, especially in II, then they took him out in three, so I moved on to Nightwolf....which is kinda funny, because a friend of mine used to be rabid about his belief that Nightwolf was Johnny Cage. xd

I have. Personally, I didn't think it was too good myself, but I probably wasn't able to give it much of a chance, either. sweatdrop
