In 1988 mankind's last hope faded to dust.
Until that day we had been safe. Children everywhere knew exactly what to do in the event of the crisis. It was simple, run upstairs and hide under the bed.
But on a fine day that year, everything changed. *SOB*
And...
It's all my family's fault.
Those of you wh know what I'm talking about will remember that year for 'Remembrance of the Daleks'. That episode changed the Daleks forever, making them more brutal, and unstopable.
Yes,
They gained the ability to hover.
While it had been implied in previous episodes, this was the first time it was actually seen on television.
Thanks to my Uncle!
My uncle was responsible for making the Dalek's hover; he was in charge of the special effects team that gave the mosters their flying skills.
I'm so sorry...

Your uncle did a good job on that scene. Did he also help out on that sequence where the Dalek shuttle landed in the school courtyard? Or when the Special Weapons Dalek went around blowing things up? Quite a few things we'd never seen before in that story...

Hairy Priest Your uncle did a good job on that scene. Did he also help out on that sequence where the Dalek shuttle landed in the school courtyard? Or when the Special Weapons Dalek went around blowing things up? Quite a few things we'd never seen before in that story... You just ruined the atmosphere of the thread.

They can hover, not fly.
Meaning all you have to do is live on the sheer edge of a cliff, and they can't get ya.

how do you know they can't fly with the new technology, I mean just because we haven't seen it don't mean they can't.

Depends how they hover i suppose. I mean, in Dalek, it hovered pretty high up...
