I don't know the slightest thing about classical ballet, but I've been taking pointe this year. It's quite fun; and I like being taller while I'm on pointe. XD
I wish I had more chance to practice it than half an hour once a week or two. sweatdrop

Ballet is the class I take for self-discipline. It takes a lot of work to be able to hold a position when your muscles are screaming at you to relax, damnit. blaugh
I've been taking ballet (Cecchetti method) for three years, and my teacher says I'll be able to go en pointe next year. The technique is difficult, but you get so much out of it. I've gotten better posture, balance, more grace, and some wicked abs. heart

After a few years, ballet went from being the class I dreaded to the one I couldn't wait to go to. I love ballet. Everyone tells me I look like a "ballerina." It's probably due to the fact that I have really long legs and I don't slouch.
My favorite are pique turns. Or the combination pique, sutenue (sp?). Usually I can't stand turns, but I've gotten used to those.

Chaines turns are the only ones I can do with any degree of regularity. Other than that, I veer off toward the mirror or the wall.
We just did a really cool combination in class last week, let's see if I can remember it...
Tonlive (I know I'm not spelling that right, sounds like ton-lee-vay), chasse, pas de bourre, releve. Turn, repeat. 'Tis nifty. 3nodding

That combination sounds pretty!
Let me see if I can remember one...Eh...my brain doesn't feel like remembering. xp

Yeah, chaines is pronounced 'sha-nay'. French is a weird language, especially the pronunciation, I'm finding.

I know. I was planning to take French, and then I realized how difficult it would be.

Renmae Does anyone have a preference between chiccetee (cant spell) or RAD? Do you mean Cecchetti, the ballet style? If so, that's what I study, so I'm kinda partial to it. I'm not quite sure what RAD is.

I'm not quite sure what RAD is. It begs the question: who has studied more than one method of ballet? I've never studied Cecchetti, but I started with Russian and moved on to RAD (Royal Academy) as a teenager. At first I liked Russian better, but I was little so I'm not sure if I would have continued to prefer it as I advanced. *shrug*

I've never done ballet with anything except Cecchetti, but I've done character dance and Russian style stuff and I don't really like Cecchetti that much. It's too...iono.
