How does everyone here feel about smoking bans in restaurants and bars, like in CA and Boston, MA? I think they're communist!

Yes. The owner should be able to do anything that doesn't bother other parties (like the store next door, for example). What if someone wanted to make a hangout for smokers?

If people are grossed out about smoking, then they can vote with their dollars and refuse patronage of the establishment. Pretty simple really.

Well it should definitly be the owners decision. I really don't find tobacco digusting, since I do smoke maybe once a month, but other people find it offensive. If a owner allows smoking in a resturant without a smoke free section he losses business. It's that simple. That's why before it was outlawed here in California there was a smoking section and a non-smoking section in most resturants. The owner then has to care about his customers health, otherwise he loses business, since none of the customers that care about there health will come. But I'm sure some democrat in office that knows NOTHING about business thinks the bar and resturant owners are "out to get everyone."
And the bar thing is even worse. YOU DRINK IN BARS. Chances are, people go to bars to get liquered up. If you getting liquered up, you apparently don't care about your health already. If you work at a bar and your that conscious of your health, find a new job. Because a bar isn't exactly the healthiest place to be in. PERIOD. It's that ******** simple.

I think its fine. The owners can make whatever rules they want. If you don't like it, go somewhere else whee

"having a smoking section in a restaurant is like ahving a peing section in a pool."
i agree, if you dont like it then leave. i also think, however that smokeing in public restaurants should be limited to bars, not restaraunts.
but i also feel that if you want to smoke a cig that bad in a restaurant, then jsut walk outside! i mean, the door cant be that far. and even tho i smoke myself, i wouldnt want to eat somewhere really smokey. i mean, what if the person youre sitting behind has serious health problems? when you light that cig youre putting them in danger. i think people should ahve the right to clean air in a family restaurant.

Yup, I believe in that right too. The smoke from the "smoking section" just carrys over to the non-smoking section anyway.

Private owners have a a choice since its their property, regardless. IF a restuarant wants more families in their restuarant, they will forbide smoking in their restuarant. If they don't, then they loose families and their status as a family restuarant. The government should not step in.

I suppose your right, but it does hurt free enterprise. It blocks out choice on private property, and that's just plain wrong.

I have really, really bad allergies, and I can't stand to be around smokers, I truely cannot breathe after a few moments, but I just leave the area. I don't make a law about it. Now when it comes to schools, DMVs, etc etc, places you HAVE to go to (and more often then not, you end up hanging around there for a long time) I can understand making a law there. But people should always be able to smoke in well-ventilated outdoor areas and their own areas. That's basic property rights, I agree.

Well in public places, your damaging other's health, without their consent. But if its private property, the non-smokers can simply leave OR the owner of the establishment can forbid it. The government shouldn't have the right to decide what we do on our own property.
