You know... There is always a single person in your band class that always tries to make everyone else feel like crap... You know, the guy that tells you you're crap, that you play like crap and you're just the worst person in band. Yet, that person can't read note values, doesn't know how to finger the notes, and can't read music all together. stressed

Um yeah, I act like that sometimes when I'm in a bad mood to the guy who I beat in a challenge when I really dont have the right to say stuff like that.

We don't have anyone like that in our band... But the better people in there (myself included, admittedly) are usually pretty derisive to the worse musicians in there. Then again, most of the other people in there aren't as good because they never practice.

We do have one percussionist who disrupts class at least twice a day because he's either being a loud obnoxious idiot while other people are playing or because he's making up his own rhythms.

Ours doesn't play badly. In fact, he does 'AP' band and music theory, and is in the local young musicians' honors band. in short he is a very talented clarinet player (E flat as well as the...um...normal clarinet.)

But whenever anyone makes a mistake he makes a loud sigh, and makes a face. It's really annoying, we all just want to shoot him for being a jackass. I'm glad he wasn't elected drum major when he tried out. domokun

The first chair clarinet... scream scream scream ...and several of the t-bones. They won't shut up, and what's worse is they weren't in marching season--they're here for just concert--and they're being SO disrespectful to everyone. A sax friend of mine has to sit in front of them, and her parents are from Bangladesh, so she looks Indian, and there's also a flute two rows up from them that's Asian, and I can hear them across the room constantly making fun of the "Asian Benjamin Franklins". o_O;...the two girls are known for their smartness...: O

...We went to Festival on Tuesday. The first chair clarinet played early several times, among several other things, and one could clearly hear them on tape, and so I pointed them out as nicely as I could, because I did some of the same things and I said "We just have to learn to really listen to each other" and he said "You can't hear me! I didn't make any mistakes!" then I said, "I'm right next to you! I heard plenty yesterday!" etc etc. stare He didn't even WANT first chair...and he's nice, and I don't mind not being first, but if he's going to put me down because I'm not "better" than him... scream ninja ....
I hate those people. ninja He's even quitting band next year, but he's going to go to the Nashville Blair School of Music. whee stare whee

One of the flutes. She's an absolute b***h, and the sad thing is, she's probably going to be section leader next year. Of course, I don't really care, seeing as I'm a senior, but still...

Most people that are really snobby and pick on "poorer" players are mostly the better players of our band. I don't think there is anyone that truly "sucks" and they pick on other people . . . well wait I can think of one guy but he's just annoying and sucks at life. But for the most part the people in my band are pretty nice though sometimes you can tell by people's expression when they look at you they're you that you suck. So whee.

In concert band we do. He's a Euphonium player...a suckful one at that...he puts down the kids who play well, and like to practice. I bitched him out once, it was fun. The band director "talks" to him all the time(more like lecture, but whatever) but he never seems to get it. At least he isn't in marching band...I would make him my slave on slave day though and he will rue the day that he tries making my favorite class pure frustration! evil

Phew...had to get that off my chest. xd

yup. we got a few like that, but the one that REALLY gets to me is a senior guard captains from this year. having already confronted me about my "attitude problem" (she was wrong about some counts and was giving me a hard time for correcting her), she calls the youngest guard captain a "worthless piece of s**t that shouldn't even be on frontline." she's such a HYPOCRITE scream scream scream !!!! i'm so glad she'll be gone next year...

Oh yes... The girl beside me. If the instrument isn't in her mouth, she's flapping her gums; and then she tries to tell me how to play correctly (Read: like she does), when she can't read a key signature to save her life. Somehow this girl got into the City-wide honour band. I can only imagine how the director must get pissed off.

We did last year, but thankfully she moved. She would befriend/enslave you one day, then call you a selfish brat the next. One time in a challenge chair test, I challenged her and beat her out of first chair. she went down several chairs that day and started crying. Everyone was sympathetic at first, but then it just became stupid. She yelled at people for no reason and most of the time was just plain mean, even if you were nice her. She sassed the BD a lottoo. But, as I said, she moved and the band is better off.

Yes... we have one of those. The last chair flute. Who, coincidentally, doesn't even play. Nope, she hides behind the parka-rack and does her homework during band. She'll be the senior in charge next year, but instead she says that even though I suck (which I don't... hello, I'm third chair, she's last. And sometimes I play better than second chair; I just like third) I can be the one in charge next year while she sleeps (since I'll be the only junior flute in marching band next year; the other is the feature twirler)

She's so annoying. She thinks she's so perfect too. And I want to STRANGLE her!!!!! *smacks her with the bass drum mallet*
