S&M (I believe it stands for Symphony and Metallica. I don't call it 'S&M' all the time because I know what perverts would think if I went around going 'I love S&M!!' or something like that. lol) was recorded live at a community center in Berkeley, California, April 21-22, 1999 (please correct me if I am wrong). Basically, it's Metallica playing some of their memorable songs, but combined with the San Fransisco Symphony! I absolutely loved the thought of this. A metal band + orchestra? I was astounded!! I thought the album was revolutional. But, I have also heard some negative opinions about it as well. And I am curious about everyone's opinion on S&M in this guild.

Acctualy other bands had done it wink But not with a fullsize symphony like that. But in my oppinion its a great peace of art and can really make you realise how great some of metallicas old songs are, the pure energy that the orchestra ads cant be explained ^^

IM NOT! That cd was epic. It just gives the songs a whole new dimension. The Call of the Cthulu was a great instrumental, but the strings and pads and woodwinds just gave it a monstrous background that you cannot achieve with just guitars and drums.

It is amazing. I love everything about it. That particular collection of songs is great, but adding the symphony was pure genius.

it was great. i thought it was going to be crappy and not sound metal...but i was WRONG!!!!!!...I was AMAZED!!!!!
