You Be the Judge
I heard that Rey Mysterio has been getting a lot of flack for being champion becaus he's supposedly being a "charity case" and getting it on behalf of Eddie Guerrero (1967-2005), well, keep this in mind, Eddie Guerrero had a lot of friends backstage and out of wrestling such as Chris Benoit, Chavo Guerrero, Dean Malenko and many others, yet if Rey was a charity case why not they do the same for Benoit and Guerrero
Benoit suffered some major trauma after Guerrero's death what with him actually losing it and writing letters to Eddie (as well as Owen Hart) after his departure
and then think about this, Chavo is his NEPHEW and he hasn't gotten a decent push since Wrestlemania 20 (remember the Cruiserweight Open)
I really think that Rey actually deserved his championship and wasn't really exploiting his friends departure but *sorta* honoring it because remember, Chavo wasn't in Wrestlemania and Benoit lost at Wrestlemania
but what are your thoughts about this situation?

I'm not pissed off that Rey has it like most people I know are. ex) "Why does Rey have the belt? He's not even a heavywieght!" or "He's just a charity case."
I actually don't think Rey would have recieved the belt if it weren't for Eddie's death(no disrespect to either of them), but that doesn't mean I don't think he should have it. BUT I do think that there are other superstars who are more deserving of it than Rey.

Or could it be that since he's one of the older wrestlers around anymore, he's finally getting the recognition and glory that he's earned? The guy has been in wrestling one place or another for 16 years. 16 YEARS! Longer by far than alot of these guys. Sure he's not technically a heavyweight (although he's been getting some extra padding lately). Doesn't much matter, if he's deserving of the accolade. Say what you want about the Eddie angle. I think he's earned the right to be a major champion, even if only for a little while.

I think the storylines they have Rey in they were originally going to put Eddie in. And since Rey Mysterio is the next best thing.... yeah.
I'm more interested in the Chavo Guerrero thing, though.

You people also have to throw in the fact that the only reason Chavo is CHavo right now is because of Eddie's death. That Intercontinental Title shot he got, the undefeated streak he had for a few weeks. It was all because of Eddie's death. So if you say Rey Mysterio is a charity case, then you're saying Chavo Guerrero is as well. I personally loved the fact Mysterio won at Wrestlemania.

Rey is not a charity case, he's got the belt because he is a good wrestler and it doesn't matter if he's not heavyweight because he's one of the best wrestlers there today. People who complain about him all the time is because they underestimate him so, i would like you whiny people to get in the ring with him and then you will know you underestimated him to much. scream

I like watchin' the guy in action, and it's good to see the belt on him. I do think Eddie's death might've been a bit influential, but then why give Chavo a push with no belt, and why have Benoit lose Wrestlemania? Why only have Mysterio be the only one with a consistant "charity" push? Honestly, he's probably just gonna be a short-term champ, but a short-termed one that earned it.
