(( Set slightly in the past. Before Mbaraka meets Laana and the other misties.))

Mbaraka had been travelling with his new found friend, and although he held hope in his heart, he knew the moment he walked into the lands that they were calling him. Deep emerald eyes glanced from the femme beside him to the equally beautiful lands. Lush green mosses crept up the rock, moist walls glimmering in the sunlight. Beside the beautiful rock formation fell a waterfall, gushing and extremely enchanting. Silvers blues and even greens mixed into the clear water. As they passed the waterfall, he did nothing but stare in awe, feeling small droplets of water land on him. Though he was a feline, he had an unusual liking for water, but that was more watching it than being immersed in it. Large body moved along, keeping his gaze on the gorgeous scenery, and glancing curiously to the caves up ahead.

Mbaraka's wonderment at these strange lands, which the tenacious blue lioness had indeed travelled through but at such a speedy pace as to miss its splendour, hadn't gone unnoticed by Mapenzi. She smirked at the male's obvious contentment in this place. Because of her somewhat exotic past, Mapenzi was hard to impress, but the true majesty of the Mistweaver lands would hit her later like a ton of bricks.

Despite trying to keep her mind from immediate thoughts of 'wow' until she'd seen all of these lands, she slowed almost to a stop as they walked past the waterfall. The fine spray coated her fur and sank down to her dry skin. It burned at first, but was quickly followed by a cool sensation that Mapa had not experiened very much. Cool, fresh water like this was hard to come by on the savanna.

Jolting herself from a sleep-like state, she trotted to catch up to Mbaraka, although she doubted he would have even noticed her absence - his green eyes were fixed on the equally green scenery.

His eyes glimmered, like a child presented with it's first possesion, or a cub before its first kill. Mbaraka had discovered the most beautiful place he was ever to visit. He let out a purr, momentarily forgetting he had the desirable compnay of Mapenzi. Mbaraka turned to her, with a wide sweet smile. "So what do you think?" Large tail swayed, almost in accordance to the breeze. He had seen even less of Africa than he had previously thought. The adult was extremely grateful for visiting here, even if he sorely missed his family. Perhaps there would be new oppertunitys for such things..

At first, Mapenzi's view was taken by the steely grey of Mbaraka's form, but the somewhat un-inviting darkness of the caves quickly caught her attention. Her eyes were fixed on them, even when she replied to his question.

"Its...certainly different. I have been here before...but I will admit that I'd never taken the time to truly appreciate it...its more beautiful than my shabby memory can recall," she said, that little glimmer of honesty slipping into her speech once again, even though her mind was a whirl of fear and apprehension.

The last time she had passed through, she wasn't in the best of company - pursued by a rather disgruntled lioness after discovering Mapa had seduced her mate into a few hunting favours. Mapa owed her life to the Mistweaver lands. It was here that she lost the angry femme.

So she'd been here before. Perhaps it was just him, but he didn't know how anyone could pass up a place like this. Gaze shifted to admire the greenery and rushing waters. It certainly wasn't everyday that you caught this amount of water in africa. He was willing to bet that the Mistweavers were never thirsty. The movement of the water seemed to call to him.

He turned his giant head, surveying quickly before turning his attention back to his travelling companion. He wondered if she found his lack of interest rude, so bowed his head with a humble smile. "Sorry." Gaze averted, he wondered what, or who lived in those caves. "So do you wanna stay here for a bit?" He asked, keeping his head bowed.

Mapenzi was a little nervous of this place. No matter how long ago it was since the lioness had chased her through here, there was always the frightening thought that the lioness had settled here! She swallowed hard, her mouth suddenly going dry.

"Umm...sorry?" she flicked her head back to him, wondering what he could possibly apologise for. If he was interested in this place, he had no reason to be sorry about it.

"Oh..oh...umm...sure, I can't see...why not," she answered, forcing a smile that did have a hint of truth in it. This was the first time she'd spent time with a male and not been tempted to think of some elaborate plan in order to trick him. Maybe it was because Mbaraka was just too innocent. He had hopes and dreams, whereas most of the bums Mapa had met on her travels had little to think about.

He flicked his mane slightly, a few strands falling into his eyes. "Great!" He exclaimed, bounding off a little, showing perhaps the last piece of his youth. He was normally one to act quite mature, but in this time of exictement he couldn't help but be expressive. However he backed up a few paces as if he had only just noticed Mapenzis expression. Mbaraka turned, a slight look of concern upon his face. "You okay?" He asked, brow furrowed, ears still alert and listening to the water, though they flickered foward to receive Mapas response.

She grimaced for just a moment, her eyes looking to the side in order to avoid that annoyingly honest emerald gaze. She somehow felt like she couldn't lie to those eyes.

"Yeah...yeah! I'm fine," Mapenzi replied, almost raising her voice to that of an excited roar, as if to chase her nervousness.

Even if she were to encounter anyone who would recognise her, she was sure she could think fast enough on her feet.

She bounded to his side, lifting her paws with energy and grace. She even walked a little past him, letting her tail just stroke the sides of his legs playfully.

"Come on then, lets explore this place," a smile cruved upon her mouth.

Mbaraka however, wasn't so easily convinced. He had learnt to read the expressions of his mother, because through her sickness, she was often left unable to speak. However, he wondered if such a clever femme like Mapa could learn to conceal such feelings. He flashed her a comforting smile, hoping to ease her slightly. Perhaps the prospect of adventure would mean shewould open up a little.

He felt her tail brush at his legs as she bounded to catch up with him. She was such a graceful creature, and possesed such elegance... Shaking his head slightly, he reminded himself what he was here to do. He wouldn't get distracted by Mapenzi, as beautiful as she may be. It was rude to stare at females anyway! He was brought up to treat them perfectly, so bowed his head again. "Whatever you wish, m'lady."

His giant paws led him down the great watered pathway, his great form a monotone blurr, though if one looked closely enough they could see his beautiful green orbs, still widened by the beauty of the lands.

Mapenzi had indeed practised for many years in perfecting how to conceal her expressions or quickly hide them under something else. It had saved her life many times, and made her an almost perfect liar. There was however, the odd time when she couldn't bring herself to lie to a certain someone.

And the blue mistress had that growing feeling in her gut that she couldn't lie to Mbraraka. Even worse was the fear that he'd see stright through her, and see her for the somewhat mischievious lioness she was.

None of these troubled thoughts were even hinted at on her face, however. Or her body language. She was the picture of youth and childish excitement as stood there, batting her tail at imaginary fire-flies. Mapa waited for the monotone male to lead the way, then she followed after him with energetic, long strides, her blue fur also melting into a blur.

As the male bounded along, his paws slipped slightly, he made note to keep his paws firmly on the ground however. His dark grey mane streaked behind him, falling about his sturdy shoulders, and into his appealingly green orbs.

However, at the rate he was moving, his body was becoming somewhat dangerous in its movements, especially when the ground was slick with water. He kept his head up, gaze quickly scanning over the objects he passed, and paws slipping further.

Finally, he made it to the end of the path, the grey rock leading into a dazzlingly clear pool, the colour of the unblemished sky. Though the area around the pool was naturally soaking, and the speed he picked up meant he couldn't stop his bulky frame quickly enough. This resulted into the large lion plummeting into the pool. He yelled, emerging with an embarassed face. However the water was comfortingly cool, and not too deep either.

Keeping pace beside him, Mapa could only hide her giggles as she saw him lose his footing every now and then. And then she lost hers. Almost greeting the muddy earth beneath her, she slid to a stop and corrected herself, standing tall and straightening her back.I hope he didn't see that...

After that close encounter of the muddy kind, Mapa slowed herself down. She kept Mbaraka in her sights, and occasionally used a small burst of speed to keep from losing him.

A small, brightly coloured lizard scuttled from underneath the brush and right out in front of Mapa. It froze. And so did she. She didn't see many of these little buggers out on the plains. Before she could even sniff it or prod it, a large splashing sound and a yelp that made it scarper. Thats when Mapa realised she'd just lost of Mbaraka. But where? The end of the path was right there - oh there he was, clambering out of the water pool.

Laughing softly, she trotted upto his dripping form.

"Hehe, looks like you had a fight with the pool...and lost," she chuckled.

Dripping wet, the male flopped out with a loud squelch. "Yeah, looks like it." He looked down to his wet pelt, which the water had turned a significant shade darker. He let out a deep laugh himself, before shaking his mane slightly, sending water droplets cascading over the pair. He looked to Mapa sheepishly. "Sorry." He kept a wide grin on his face, moving around Mapenzi, trying carefully not to get her wet. His mother had truely disliked water, and it was now thought to him that this was something all femmes feared or hated. He pulled himself upright, water still dribbling onto the floor. "So where to next then?" His gentle gaze found the rock ledges, and they appeared to be suitable for climbing, to reach higher ground, and the beautiful waterfall.

Mapa flinched a little at the resultant droplets of water that were being thrown from his thick mane, but she just patted the moisture down into her still sun-scorched fur using her paws. No matter how much water she could possibly be exposed to whilst in these humid lands, it still felt as though her skin would never be quenched.

She padded over to the pool to take a drink, lapping at the crystalline waters with pink tongue. She licked her lips as she finished, and playfully splashed Mbaraka with some more water.

She followed his line of sight to the rocks and boulders, her smile quite firm on her face. Until she saw the waterfall. She didn't quite fancy falling down that!

But if those rock ledges were a way of exploring some more, then so be it.

"Well, up there needs to be seen," she said, nodding at the rocky cliff face that had captured his gaze so. "Lets go, swampie," she laughed.

He fell back, batting at the water drops she flicked in his direction, a huge grin still upon his maw. He never knew he could feel like this, so free, and he was all sharing it with someone, someone he considered a new found friend.

He followed her gaze, voicing her opinion on the waterfall. "We need to be careful around the top." Mbaraka yawned, flashing several pointed teeth. These lands possesed such mystery thtat he expected it would take a lifetime to uncover them all!

"Swampie?" He asked, smiling warmly. He jumped, lifting his bulky frame onto the first ledge, and then another, careful to keep his footing. Nodding to Mapa, he picked up the pace a little, scrambling futher up the cliff.
