A sleeping Sidra twitched an ear lazily, slowly waking. Eventually, her eyes opened and she perked her delicate head up. Something had woken her; a sound, out of place in this secluded glen. Had it been a dream?

She stood, and shook the dust from her coat. She then turned a slow circle, listening intently. The breeze shifted for a moment, bringing to her a snatch of a child's song... how strange! She snorted lightly, tossing her mane, and trotted in the direction of the lone singer. "Hello? Is someone there?"

With the sounds of someone approching Toro broke of is song. "I've lost my parents...can someone help me? I'm so tired"

"Just keep talking, I've almost found you! My name is Sidra, what's yours?" The mare snuffled at the errant and singularly uncooperative breeze, trying to pinpoint the lost foal's location.

"Will you go, lassie, will you go?
And we'll all go together

My name is Toro

To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather,
Will you go, lassie, go?"

Can you tell me where to go?

"You have quite a lovely singing voice, Toro! If you can hear me, try to come towards my voice." The pale mare had just about worked it out. He had to be somewhere beyond that clump of peonies, she was certain of it!

Slowly the little red foal stumbled forward from behind the greenry. "can you tell me where to go?"

The blue-and-white mare was somewhat startled by the foal's sudden appearance, but recovered quickly. "There you are! I'm right here, little one." Sidra quickly covered the remaining distance and nuzzled the colt. "Are you all right?"

"We were running from a hawk, and now I can't find my parents. My father is as black as a shadow, and my mother as red as the fire that cast it. Have you seen them?"

Sidra tilted her head and looked at this strange little foal out of the corner of her eye while she mulled over his words. Could he be a Bard? He certainly seemed to enjoy talking in riddle and he definitely seemed to have a gift for words. A black stallion and a red mare, he'd said- she certainly didn't recall seeing anyone of that description around the Garden, at least not recently.

"I don't think I know them. You don't have any idea what direction your home is in, do you?" It was less a question than a statement; Sidra didn't believe that she would be so lucky.

"I rember smelling rosemary and basil, but that's all..."

"Ah, you must've come through the vegetable garden, then. Let's head that way and see if we find them!" Sidra swivelled a little to get her bearings. Yep, they were in the flower garden, so the vegetables were thataway. "It's this way, follow me!"

Sidra tried to keep an upbeat, hopeful tone. Hawks were one of several predators that posed a genuine threat to the tiny Serendiponies, and she was having to bite down on the fear that Toro wouldn't be seeing one or both of his parents again...

The little foal followed behind the filly with all of the swirls. Any time she
looks back she sees that he has a smile on his face, but under his breath he
sings
"At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home"

Sidra suppressed a shiver at the foal's song. Definitely a Bard. Had to be. Right?

She also kept an eye on the sky- if a hawk was hunting it wouldn't do to be caught unaware!

Harperking
Galaen looked up from his grazing at the sound of the singing. A quick flick of his blue wings sent him aloft, and he extended his senses, trying to find the one who made such a hauntingly beautiful sound. The bending of the grass soon gave him the clue he needed, and he alighted ahead of them, for he saw a fully grown mare leading a small foal into the heart of the garden.
The mare he had remembered seeing before though he had never shown himself to her, but the foal was completely new to him. This was a little surprising to the angelic pony, whi thought he was quite familair with all the serendiponies that were in the area that he called home. After a moment's thought, he decided this was too much a mystery for him to leave alone.
Purposly stepping into a nearby sunbeam, he allowed himself to be seen by the two mortals.
