I've heard a lot of fun ideas buzzing around of possible islander concepts - most of them very brief "X into X!" or a general murky idea of an idea that isn't quite developed.
I figured, why not make a thread for people to dump some ideas that have occurred to them but they themselves aren't planning on actually making a character around - maybe they already have a concept they have their heart set on, maybe they already have an islander, etc.
Long story short, this isn't any sort of officially sanctioned thread. Ideas people post here here may or may not even be plausible enough to really make a character around without being contrived or overly unrealistic. ((So if you see an idea someone posted here that really inspires you, don't just assume that since it's here it's got the seal of approval ^_~)). Also, a warning, it's possible that an idea in here already might exist in someone's quest thread - or someone might take one of the ideas in here after it's posted.
But! If you've had an idea you think is neat, that someone might have fun with, or if you just want to braindump on the thread, feel free to post.
I won't be collecting them into a post or anything, so people actually need to read through the thread :3

Aubrey's only real "serious" boyfriend before coming to the island was a man she was dating after graduating medical and was recruited by Moreau.
They weren't very serious (Aubrey was a virgin when she came to the island!) but there was real definate potential for the future.
Would be interesting to see how Aubrey would react to him coming. Either by "accident" or as revenge if Moreau was angry at her for some reason.

*goes ahead and tosses a few ideas out there* Things I think might have the potential to be neat! biggrin
A big game hunter who thinks he's going on some uber-expensive, exclusive safari (maybe his weapons are in the "next helicopter"). Maybe he goes out to the jungle from the labs before rondevouing in the village.
A chronic abuser of serum 45 (the temporary enhancer 'test drug' on the streets with little to no physical side-effects - see the Feral Labs thread in this guild for more info) who is looking for a more permanent enhancer. Maybe they were a sports player who was using the drug as a steroid that couldn't be detected.

~ Along similar lines as the "big game hunter..." how about a guy (or gal) big-foot (and similar creature) hunters? They could end up on the island when trying to research the Bermuda Triangle phenomenon.

Hrm. Maybe some disabled people. I know there's already Zach and Madison, possibly Cassidy and Valentine, but Cass wasn't disabled to begin with and can still get around, and Valentine loosing a finger isn't much of a big disability.
Options for disabled people:
Wheelchair
[Hee-hee, I claimed this one!]
Mentally slow
[But not excactly retarted. Knows what's going on, just takes a while.]
Paralyzation
[One of my old classmates was half-paralyzed on his right side. He walked funny and was kinda numb on that side, but he could still move his right arm stiffly and sit and stuff]
And anything anyone can think of!
Basically I'm tired of the druggies and the 'bad boys/girls'. We need more 'Chubbses'. He's big, and no one else is. Or we need more 'Colches'. No one has been through that kind of experience before. We need more originality! ><

Kim once mentionned in rp that she had a close male friend of her that she hoped would wind up getting the job she lost by coming to the island... I don't really have much in mind for him, but if anyone would be interested, ill be glad to help along with the concept. It could be very interesting - expecially if said friend came looking for her.

How about someone who is either death, blind or a mute. It think it would be intresting if someone where to come on the island that was blind looking for some sort of cure to be able to see.

1. OLD PEOPLE
Come on. It's not like people don't age! What if a chattery old lady is turned into a parrot? A lazy old man who turns into a turtle? Pyroth's the oldest on the island, and he's a mere 42 years old. We need some age, and it would be challenging to be someone in such a generation gap from the other players. Imagine the background you can write for your character! :3
2. GOTHS
Goths are stereotypically known for being pale, wearing all black, and having issues with the world. I think turning one of those goths into something cheerful, like a sunflower or a monarch butterfly, would be quite interesting.
3. GRASS
I demand someone's a** be grass >O Literally. Sabin pointed out that grass is an organism, not just individual blades. It'll be like a green Cousin It!
4. WOODSTOCK HIPPIE
Gone are the 60's, but I'm sure there's a few character possibilities for heavy drug users. This may or may not tie into Serum 45 abuse, but I've always wanted to see a hippie turn into cannabis. That is my silly little IoDM dream. If someone's character were turned into cannabis or a cannabis/opium/shroom sort of combo, or even some individual hallucinogenic plant, then I would be proud of you. Remember, there's quite a few pot smokers on the island, so your character must beware of Jamal, Billy, Antony, The Dude, Pyroth, and anyone else who'd smoke a joint.
5. COWGIRL GONE COW
Been mentioned before, I'm sure. It's udderly crazy *shot twice* Texan would be a very different accent from the ones on the island. Plus, cows are prey, and there's always going to be some interesting side effects when you need to grow three extra stomachs and chew cud. This idea isn't necessarily meant to have to go together - I'd love to see a cowboy/girl, or a person who turns into a cow. There are hardly any domesticated sorts of animals on the island, so remeber chickens and sheep as well.
I'll add more next time ;3
And there WILL be a next time. Ohhh yes.

Very interesting indeed...
I was toying with the blind thing myself with the hopes of becoming a bat
[Since bats are 'blind' and my character could regain his/her 'sight' via echolocation.]
But since Hargun is a bat, that'd be against my set originality rules. Even if it is a different species, the RPer inside of me would be ranting like mad. ><
And someone could be the 'Cow Pie' Man from the Master of Disquise! It's absolutely perfect... Mwehehehe...

I really love those types of concepts <3
Also, just FYI, bats aren't really blind at all :3 They have eyesight similar to a humans, just that they don't have good darkvision, ironically XD

I've been playing around with this idea for a while, but I realised that I could NEVER pull off Role Playing it...I'm one of the younger Questers any way...
Idea
-A 50-something year old man, a former Naval officer, who was paralyzed in a car-accident and is wheel-chair bound. Turns into a Rhino, Elephant, or some other "strong" animal.

I think a milk man turning into a dairy cow would be funny. X3

Er, I gotta bunch, hang on (Methinks I have no life.)
~ An obnoxious little kid with an overactive imagination turning into a gecko. I can just see him hanging from the wall, narrating his "daring attempt at overthrowing the evil Doctor."
~ A nobody (think Mr. Cellophane) turning into something flashy like a peacock or a toucan.
~ Someone with a terminal illness, I kinda want to see how that would be handled. (I was considering this for Howie, but I figured that I'd tortured the poor boy enough).
~ A Geryon. Anyone read Dante's Inferno? One of the gatekeepers for the sins of the Leopard (Fraud) is this monster with a fair face, but he has the front body of a leopard, with furry forearms, and the back end of a giant reptile. Now cover the whole thing with leopard spots. Yeah, it's sweet biggrin
~ A recent abuse victim with a newly broken spirit getting transformed into a top predator. Kinda a "get your mojo back" scenario. I was thinking moniter lizard, but not everyone's a herp nut like me.
~ A young author named H. G. Wells... "This would make a great novel!"
.... okay, so that last one was a joke XD.
