Tired dusty paws made their way across the land, the journey had been long and the path difficult, but they had never given up, never faultered. Unknown to them they had long since crossed into ela territory, all they knew was that they now stood at the foothills of the mountain range. Juhudi's eyes widened as he looked around, gazing over the magnificent land before them. It was beautiful, the perfect place to make their home. There was plenty of shelter, they could probably even find a cave plenty big enough to share, he even thought he heard the sound of a river nearby. Grinning he turned to the wild dog at his side. "What do you think?"

Kere stood silent, looking over the place that Juhudi had led them all to. Slowly, he began to feel his muscles relax as tension and fear began to ebb. Somethign about this place made him feel completely at ease. And there was a river nearby, if his ears were not playing tricks on him.
Turning to Biz with an impish grin on his face, he whispered, "Once we're all certain this place is safe for us, I'll race you to the water. Don't know about you, but I want a bath."

Nafasi had been looking over the land with his own wide eyes, amazed at how seemingly perfect a place they had found. "I think...we're home." Grin crossing his maw, Nafasi turned to look at his best friend. "This place is...beautiful. So much room! Plenty of space for others to join us..." Grey eyes seemed to sparkle like the night sky the pup's pelt was marked after. Despite how tired he was, the excitement from the beginning of their trip had never left him.
Biz returned the grin, and a whisper. "I'm game for that." Biz didn't need to survey the place to know how wonderful it was. She had, afterall, been looking around constantly since the start. She simply knew that this place was perfect. How she knew this....well she didn't have a clue, but her mind told her it was right, and that's all she needed.

Juhudi grinned at his friends, indeed this place did seem perfect. They didn't know if anyone else lived around here, and had no idea that they were in a pride's territory, all Juhudi knew was that this place was perfect. In fact he hadn't even thought about the fact that a place like this might already be inhabbited. But even if there were others here, they wouldn't harm the cubs or object to their presence would they? The cub stretched his tired muscles, dark paws flexing in the earth. It had been along trek, and he was tired and hungry. His ears flicked, that river was sounding very inviting right now. Maybe they could find something to eat there, or even go for a swim. "What do you wanna do first?"

"Drink and a splash in the river has my vote," Kere replied cheerfully. "But only after we've made sure no crocodiles are there. I don't fancy becoming one's lunch now we've made it here."
The black cub sat for a moment and scratched at his ear. He wished he was better at tracking and scouting so he could at least figure out what else might live here. Still, all four of them were obviously quite harmless. Who'd want to attack a bunch of raggedy looking cubs anyway? Shaking his head to dispel the fleeting worry, he grinned at Juhudi and began edging towards the river before breaking into a dash.
"In fact," he called back, "I'll race you there, eh?"

"Who WOULD want to become one's lunch after that long journey?" Biz stretched out, tail whipping behind her for a moment. "A race eh? I think I'll join in on that..." Grinning from ear to ear, Biz broke off running after Kere. It didn't matter that they had traveled so far, and were obviously tired. These were her friends, and a chance to play with them always brought renewed energy.
Nafasi grinned, watching the other two race towards the river's edge. "Bet you Kere there let's Biz beat him..." Nafasi walked off after them, not keen on running anymore at the moment.

Juhudi couldn't help but laugh as he walked alongside his friend. Like Nafasi, he wasn't really in the mood for running right now either. It had been a long journey and he was tired. The energy that had sustained through their trek was fading and now a good night's rest in their new home was sounding like a wonderful idea. "I bet you're right."

Kere risked a quick glance back to see Biz racign only a few paces behind. Silently, he weighed his options. He could either beat her, let her win, or slow just enough so that they tied. As he assessed his own stores of energy, he realized he didn't have enough left to push himself to win.
So, he thought, hiding a smile, we'll let Biz win this time. Accordingly, he allowed his ired legs to move a little slower, gradually allowing the purple cub to catch up. But, he'd have to be careful... He didn't think it would be very good for Biz to know he'd let her win on purpose.

Biz was pushing her own body as much as possible, attempting to either pass Kere up, or at least give him a good run to the river. Her grin only grew wider as she slowly overtook Kere, beating him to their destination. Paws skidded to a halt as the purple cub came to the bank of the river, eyes examining it a moment before she whirled around to grin at Kere. "Beat ya!! Good race though!" She had her suspicions of course, but she'd never voice them.
Nafasi laughed with his friend, padding along behind the other two. "Predictable....yet sweet."

"He better just hope she doesn't figure it out." Juhudi grinned at Nafasi as the pair arrived at the river's edge well after kere and biz. He stood for a moment, eyes scanning the water for any sign of movement. This was africa after all, and there may be crodiles which would not make for a very good start in their new home. After he was satisfied that it was safe, he lowered his head and lapped at the water, taking a long drink before dipping a dusty paw into the cool liquid. "Hmmm...maybe we could have fish for dinner tonight."

Kere stood by the water's edge grinning at Biz and panting with unfeigned exhaustion. Someday, he thought, I'll learn to think before I issue racing challenges when I am tired. He gave the female cub a friendly wink and wandered a tiny distance int the river. The cool water swirled around his ankle and felt wonderful. Bending slightly, he got a drink to clear the dust from his throat andthen looked back up to scan the area.
"I wonder if anyone else lives around here," he mused aloud. When he heard Juhudi talking about fish, he could barely restrain a smile. The black cub adored fresh fish.
"If the others are agreeable to that," he said, "I can try to catch some since I'm already in the river."

The wild dog grinned back at Juhudi, following him all the way to the river's edge. There, Nafasi kneeled next to his friend, getting his own drink of water. "Fish sounds good to me, we can help out if you'd like Kere."
Biz grinned, dipping her two front paws in the river before leaning down to get her own drink. Throat feeling better, she looked back up to the others. "I could go for some fish too, I'm sure we'll be able to catch some."

Juhudi's eyes never left the water, always on alert for anything that might see them as a meal. But it seemed the crocodiles were not in this part of the river, at least not today. Looking up to Kere he nodded. "I think we can all catch some fish, we'll have a feast in our new home." The light cub stepped further into the water, his eyes now focused on a paticullarly tastey looking fish.

Kere gave a happy wriggle and immediately went after a particularly fat looking fish that had caught his eye when he'd been having his drink. With a careful spring, he dove niose first into the water, eyes and jaws open. If nothing else, he'd catch a fish just because the stupid things might be startled enough to swim into his mouth.

Nafasi walked a bit down the river before entering the water. "If we spread out a bit, we'll be able to catch more...or at least drive the fish towards each other." Grinning at them, the wild dog lunged after his own fish, coming up empty pawed this time.
Nodding to Nafasi, Biz walked off in the opposite direction before also entering the water. She did not, however, immediately lunge after a fish. She instead stood completely still, carefully watching the fish swim in the water below her.
