I've found a guild called Marketplace Manipulation...

Well the title explains it all...

http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/index.php?guild_id=5991
You may view the description the guild.

It's a small effort but we hope to build a small gathering of people to boycott any buying or selling with Talon-chan and the mods of that guild.

We are working on figuring out a way to get a member list of that guild so that we can be aware of any artificial inflationers...

We are also going to find a way to infiltrate the guild and let it be known to the public of their plans.

I am working on plans to make an Exchanging guild or an exchange club that offers items at reasonable prices to people who are questing. We hope to follow the flow of inflation but we will put a warning on any items going under artificial inflation.

You are also encouraged to sign the WAMM petition and join the LAID guild.

I myself despise artificial inflation. I believe that natural inflation is fine based on supply and demand but for items like banis and sashes the inflation is ridiculous.

You may discuss inflation in this topic and we will keep a watch on several items undergoing what we believe is artificial inflation

When you think about it, it's not that hard for some types of people to want to join.

This is just an easier way to become rich.

If you could make huge profits, wouldn't you take that opportunity? Some people don't really care about..well, I don't know if "ethics" is the right word, but it's the first one I came up with.

Greed > "Ethics"

AIer = Very easily become rich. If a person is really into money, who cares about anyone else?

Well... it's not necessarily "unethical" but more of immoral. Artificial inflators have been arguing that you can't deflate if artificial inflation is banned. But deflating does not really result in a personal monetary gain and people could actually lose money by deflating. Deflating may affect the economy slightly but it would only be for certain items. There will always be some sort of natural inflation as long as supply for certain items doesn't meet demand. Deflating items does not affect the market the way artificial inflation does.

Greed> Morals for many people and there are Gaians who do not care that they make a huge profit off of an item that is now out of reach for most questors.

Example of Artificial Inflation:

Nitemare Scarves
They have climbed over the price of OMG and AFKs and have experienced exorbant price games within days. Some are even going for 1 mil +!
Deemed Reasonable Price: 600-700k

Ugh, how horrible DD=

I'm having enough trouble with a staff since it inflated up to 60k+ ><
PostPosted: Sun Apr 09, 2006 8:42 pm

I'm not sure if the staff is undergoing artificial or natural inflation, though it has been rising very fast lately...

hmmm... I'll make a crew only forum so that if you get into the guild you can discuss it privately...

@Sea - No, I in fact did not get it from "the Rain Man movie", nor "The Rainmaker".

I didn't learn anything from the movie, except that it attempted to go against the whole concept of cliches by killing off the boy, and then making sure his family didn't get any money. Except the other case kinda ruined the whole "against-cliches" thing.

Anyway, off topic.

@Dryad - Yes, excellent word, "immoral". Thank you.

Stupid NM/A scarves -____-;

I think that the pitchforks/staves [?] were affected by a bit of both types of inflation. I thought that these were quite popular items, and they've been pretty low considering that there now seem to be a lot of demonic/angelic avatars. They used to be around 40k-ish, and even now D Pendants are 40k. In my opinion, they are all good items, and if D Pendants are 40k now, then the PF/S should've gone up as well because there is supposed to be less Oct 04s than Jan 05s and because they're "older". Basically, the October items were quite steady for a period of time, and it's probably reasonable for them to go up now, but AI may have made it spike a bit quicker.

Does it really matter who not to buy from? Just don't buy from anyone who's taking advantage of AI.

They quick rise in prices doesn't always necessarily mean it's a great item. Many Gaians like to follow trends. Other people see the hike in prices and want to profit from it. Suddenly there's a sudden craze to get that item because it is expensive, not becuase it's worth it.

Demonic Pendant= Piece of crap on a string [used to be worthless till artificial inflation took it's hold]

Demonic Pitchforks- SupplyIt's a great item, and many Gaians want it. The user number is increasing on Gaia everyday which means more and more people want one. Hence the inflation on that item

Excellent reasoning 3nodding

Do you think that the D Pendants are just rising because they're the opposites of A pendant? Even though they'll never catch up xP Other that the D pendants fact that it goes with the whole dark set. As you said, it's just a blob on a string, and Sea said that it was a fat blob, not like the nice A pendant xD

... was a fat blob ...
I said it was flat, not fat. Besides, isn't that what Syku said as well?

Many people want to have a complete collection of demonic items, just because of the popularity of the demonic theme. Artificial inflationers took advantage of that small item and made it seem as if it was in demand. The price rocket made it seem like everyone was buying them which made people start buying them before it was "too late".

Angelic Pendants= A good item. It looks a lot more elegant and graceful than the demonic pendant. However because it came with the demon horns, artificial inflators have made the price go madly up.
Would I pay 200k+ for a few pixels?- Maybe for a few elegant pixels.

I have a pair of demon horns but they are currently on loan...
