I thought I'd get your take on the religion, as I got comepletly slammed last night for even mentioning my beliefs on the matter. And my thread had nothing to do with the subject. It was about Christian Stright Edge, much like the one I have posted in here (hint, hint). I took the thread to ED because I wasn't getting posts in the Christian guilds. Mistake #1. I'm never going back there intentionally. Here's a link so you can sit back and watch the action. um yeah. Never say out right in ED that ANY religion is a cult. Ever. You'll get flamed so bad. With good reason too. You are insulting them. Even if what you say is true. You have to back it up. And as far as this goes, it's pretty hard to back up. Though there are the obvious things.
Anyhow, don't lose heart. Just learn to be less, direct. It would have been better to say, "Mormans aren't Christians, they've added another book to the Bible that directly contradicts many key things in the rest of the Bible. Such as polygamy. Not something that Jesus' coming made ok. (Jesus' coming made it ok to eat pork and such)."
See give examples. Another good one would be to point out that they believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers, and that Jesus already came on the second coming and so on and so forth.

You are 100% right when you say Mormonism is a cult. Morality and Religion can be an ugly place especially those who create topics. Mostly the anti-christian / atheists rule the Morality and Religion.

I went through the thread, and I really don't think it went all that bad. Trust me, I've seen worse. None of them spammed with swear words or by saying "Jesus sucks" or "My dog's name is Jesus...do you love him?" and stuff like that. Most of the people, if not all, had intelligent posts that were debating with your posts. And that's good. People have different beliefs, and they will back themselves up. And that's what they did. And in a nice way. You're lucky, really. 3nodding

What is Mormon? Yea that might sound like a dumb question but I know nothing of the religion except when they show the book of mormon on tv commercials.

Ummm....I don't really think that's correct. They believe that this guy like Abraham Smith or something had this big vision in which he was supposedly told all these things from God, and he wrote down all these things and made a book from it. Mormons believe that Jesus has already come a second time, that His death didn't forgive our sins completely, that Jesus and Satan were basically brothers, and that they both offered a plan of salvation to God and God chose Jesus' so Satan got mad and rebelled, that christianity is the biggest lie of satan thus far....the list goes on. Obviously they have some very different views than most christians. confused

I have a few friends that are Mormon and I never knew bout that. I knew that they can't drink Hot Tea and coffie or something like that. But we never let our religions conflict with each other while we're hangin out

yes, and i say that because although they have all the extra books, they don't seem to be a cult, because cults are usually in some form mentally or physically harmful to their members, and i know only 1 mormon and he is definetedly neither, and secondly they actually seem to take some of the things a step further, like they can't date til 16, thats not necassarialy proof, but their definetedly not a cult and i do think their christian

Mormonism is a cult since they hold to large amounts of heresy (unorthodox) doctrines within the religion of Christianity.

I think it is harmful in that as they have so many wives, don't you think they spread disease? And I watched a show on Discovery about it and the ones in Utah abuse and enslave their wives and daughters. sad
