James flew the unlikely pair of passengers towards the good Doctor's Island. The helicopter rotors spun loudly and James had had to feed each of them their own particular story about why they were traveling.

It'd been easy enough to explain though that for convience and cost he'd been hired to fly both of them together. Of course he was his normal stoic silent self.

This never got easier, he'd even convinced the young "U.K. Punk" that he would be a pilot and bodyguard for the band. He didn't feel as sorry for him though as he did for the woman who was told she was going to be studying abroad.

Still... similar to when he'd first taken Ambrose to the island. He knew in advance he was destroying their hopes, dreams, and ambitions.

But he didn't have much of a choice...

Nita sat quietly with her bookbag on her lap, headphones turned up in a rather futile attempt to cover the thrumming sound of the helicopter's rotors. It had been a very long day, full of connecting flights and far too many layovers, and only to get to a nondescript stretch of the Florida coast. There was something funny about the whole thing: being carted off to a private location to study for a couple months; but her parents had been so excited for their little girl.

"It'll be good for you, Neets," her dad had told her, tugging gently on one of her long braids. "Meet other people who want to learn and read and write... and according to the brochure, you'll be living in much better style than the dorms at OSU!"

Of course, the boy sitting next to her hardly looked the type... but it was best not to judge based purely on appearances, she supposed. Nita glanced at him surreptitiously before switching her gaze to the broad back of their stoic pilot. Were they almost there? To.. wherever "there" was? She hoped the helicopter ride was in fact the last and shortest leg of her journey-- Nita wanted nothing more than to take a quick shower, organize the few belongings she'd brought along, and maybe get a bite to eat before settling down with her books for a couple of hours.

The pilot just grunted and mumbeled something that got lost in the sound of the rotors and radio. But it sounded something like "a while."

And a while it was. Finally, a larger island amound a spackling of smaller ones could be seen in the distance. An old volcanic island, it had a single mountain in the middle, a think jungle, and large, spacies beaches.

The helicopter landed on a pad in a but if the jungle that had been cleared away. Waiting with a Jeep as they landed was a tall, pleasant woman in a labcoat, clutchiing her clipboard and holding her hat down on her head to keep it from being blown off the by the rotors.

Nita suppressed the urge to roll her eyes at the boy's drumming, but she was interested in the pilot's answer nonetheless. She sat forward for a moment when he spoke, slumping back in her seat at his less-than-enthusiastic reply. Just as her back was about to cramp up from sitting so long, an island came into view out the window. Nita's eyes grew wide as she took in the sight. Now this was certainly a lot better than Ohio in early April. It had been threatening to storm when she'd left, but this place... looked like it had never seen a cloud that wasn't light and fluffy, and possibly in the shape of a cow.

The bird finally landed and Nita rubbed at her jaw a few times, tryng to convince her ears they could stop popping now, thankyouverymuch. She stood, joints creaking from the long journey, and waited to be let out. There was a friendly-looking woman down on the pad, clearly there as a sort of welcoming committee. Being closer to the now-opened door, Nita hopped down, hauling her bookbag and suitcase after her.

Alec was relieved when he saw a landmass approaching in the distance though the sight as it grew closer made him glued to the chopper window. The place was... nothing he'd ever seen or imagined. Far from the damp, foggy countrysides, this place was like heaven in a postcard! "A' think it'll do." He laughed alloud, turning to the read haired girl to share the jest. He shrugged off her less-than-amused expression and braced himself for landing.

It hadn't been a minute since Nita stepped out of the helicopter than a grey dufflebag came flying out of the doorway, landing a few feet from the vehicle as a clearly-excited Alec leaped out after. "Who's th' beor?" He smirked as he caught sight of the woman waiting by a jeep, impressed by the accomidations already. The spikey-haired teen gave a swift kick to his bag before lazily gathering it up off the ground and striding to catch up with Nita. His heart was racing at the expectations of what was to come. If the travel was enough to excite the irish boy, then surely anything more would be nothing short of amazing.

The helicopter was back in the air the moment James took all the baggage out of it. As the whir of the blades faded, the woman gave a smile. "Welcome! Miss McNeal, Mr. Derring!" She opened the door to the Jeep and indicated for them to put their stuff in. "My name is Dr. Aubrey Lockheart, welcome to the Island of Dr. Moreau. First things first, we'll get you right up to the facility to get your immunizations."

Nita ducked as the helicopter lurched away. The fringey bits of hair that framed her face and stubbornly refused to grow long enough to braid waved franticly in the updraft. She nodded at the woman's friendly greeting, hauling her luggage into the back of the Jeep with more ease than her slender frame suggested.

"It's Nita, please," she said, a tentative smile crossing her lips. She wasn't thrilled at the mention of immunizations-- as far as she knew, she was up-to-date for all of her shots. "What's it for?" she asked rather suddenly. "The doctors back home had me pretty well checked over before I left."

Don't whine! she told herself, mentally kicking herself as well. One more shot won't kill me...

Alec did his best to save his outragious hairstyle from the gusts of wind from the helicopter, trudging over to the "Doctor". He tossed his bag into the back of the jeep, treating it with as much care as he had the duration of the entire trip. "Alec." He grinned to Aubrey, though his expression was already twisting into one of confusion. "Doc? Who's Moreau?" His brow began to furrow, his heel lifting in a threat of taking a giant step back from the jeep if necessary.

Grey eyes flickered back and forth between Aubrey, the jeep and the fellow newcomer as if pleading for a simple explaination he could understand. "I d'n get it...?"

Aubrey got in the driver's seat and bucked her seatbelt, starting the Jeep down the rocky, bumy gravel raod that cut straight through the damp and wet jungle.

"The Island is owner by Nicholas Moreau," she answered to Alec. "And I'm sure you'll healthy, but we have nasty things here that they don't have anywhere else."

Aubrey couldn't help but smirk alittle to herself.

The brush cleared out, and the huge Feral Labs came into view. The entire front looked like nothing by reflected glass - no movable doors or handles.

Aubrey led them out of the car and into the lobby. It was large and plush, with big leather sofa's and oriental rugs. There was no reception desk, just a bank of elevators on the back wall. "This way please."

"I see," Nita muttered quietly, climbing into the Jeep. The girl certainly had no desire to contract any nasty tropical diseases... She held onto the seat throughout the bumpy ride, blue-green eyes taking in the lush vegetation... and the enormous building that loomed up ahead.

Nita glanced at Alec with one brow raised, even though he didn't seem to know much more than she did. "Wow," was all she managed, following Dr. Lockheart into the building.

It was air-conditioned. Thank God, Nita thought, wiping her forehead with one sleeve and wondering why she was still wearing her hoodie. On a freaking tropical island, no less! Her hair frizzed in the confines of her braids, the short bits curling even more. Nita shivered as the sweat dried on her body, barely taking notice of the elegance (and obvious expense) of her surroundings.

Alec frowned but watched as Nita accepted the scenario as normal protocol, thinking little of it as he hopped into the jeep. "Alright." He mumbled, stoicly watching the vegetation fly past the times he wasn't staring at Aubrey's back. He was thankful for his choice of sparse clothing though practicality and use were never on his mind in the first place.

"S'like some co'perate thing?" He mumbled the question as he was led into the lobby, staring down at the mud-prints his clunky boots were leaving behind on some rather nice looking floor materials. Nevertheless, he followed Aubrey's lead with little more than slight diversions to glance around the stark place, mildly wondering why the girl was also accompanying them on this trip. She didn't seem like the punk band type.

"Its a corperation thing," she said, looking over Alec's attire as she got into the elevator. "I mean, you have to have sponsors, right?"

Aubrey led them down the hall after the short elevator ride. She pulled out what looked to be a cel phone or blueberry from her labcoat and flipped it open. "Yes, Doctor? I'll have Miss McNeal and Mr. Derring coming in very shortly."

Aubrey herded them into a large laboratory. There were seveal tables of stainless steel, and some large equiptment covered in the corner.

"Thank you Aubrey." Moreau turned around and smiled to both of them.

He walked up and shook both of their hands at the same time. "Mr. Dunning, Ms. McNeal, it is good to finally meet you both." His eyes lit up cheerly, like a friendly neighborhood pedatrition.

"I'm Doctor Moreau... I'll be taking care of your immunization shots." he guestured to a table. "Please, sit over there. Aubrey reported that you were on the way and I already got the immunization shot out."

Sponsors. That made sense. Universities and educational programs all over the world suffered from lack of funding, but from the looks of it, this particular program was pretty well covered.

Nita shifted her hoodie away from her as the trio entered the lab. She shivered again, this time not from the air-conditioning. Nita intensely disliked hospitals, having spent far too much time in them over the past several years. "At least it's clean," she remarked idly, to no one in particular.
(edit)
She sat as she was told, eyeing the new doctor warily.
