Cirrus made sure her brother's back was turned, then bolted off down a hall and out to the courtyard. Kayne was driving her insane. Sure she had wanted to stay by her brother's side instead of staying with... that man *supressed shudder*... but she needed her own space! He wanted her with at all times or to know where she was when she wasn't by his side. She just needed a few moments to think and be alone. She walked up to the vending machines and pulled out the correct yen for an orange juice. She grabbed her drink and turned to sit down at one of the tables. She flipped her platinum hair over her shoulder and put her chin down on her arms, barely taking note of the gorgeous sun-filled day.

White t-shirt, blue jeans, and work boots, Kade didn't look like he fit into the asian soceity. Thumbs stuck in his belt loops, his easy gate carried through the grounds of campus. He had considered having a smoke, but rememberd that he had yet to go to town to get a new pack. So he had opted to simply walk around, his homework was all done, no extra reading to do, and he really didn't feel like doing much of anything, and walking was the best alternative to nothing.

Coming into one of the many courtyard areas, this one just off the cafeteria, with some vending machines near by, it looked like as good a place as any to lounge for a bit in silence. He stopped a moment when he saw another student sitting at one of the tables. Pretty platnum hair, could have been fake, but by the look it was complelty natural, except for that little blue streak at her temple. He gave her a nod before heading to the vending machines.

It had all the normal things, soda's and waters; soda he didn't drink and water he had too much of, so he looked at the other selections. There was an apple juice that looked apealing. Reaching into his pocekt he looked at the number of coins in his hand, then at the machine, and back again. He still some trouble with these damn coins.

Looking over his shoulder at the girl, he hated to interupt her solitude, but he really wanted a drink, maybe she wouldn't mind just a moment of her time being taken up by a stupid redneck that could pick up the lanuage before he got the monetary sysetem down.

"Exuse me ma'am." He said calling lightly in his dark voice across the courtyard. "I was wondering if you could help me out." He nodded towards the machine and then gave a shrug lifting his change filled hand.

Cirrus had heard another student's approach, and had even steeled herself for it to be her brother. But instead it was a tall, rather well built young man with black hair. He acknowledged her presence and she gave him a small smile in return before staring back off into space. His low voice jarred her out of her reverie and she blinked her silver eyes a couple of times, trying to compute what it was he had said.

"Sure," she smiled softly, her accent curling her vowel gently. She rose up to her feet, giving her hair a little toss over her shoulder. She approached him and gave him a brighter smile. He was really good looking, she thought. "What can I help you with?" she asked, looking up into startling blue eyes.

He watched as the smaller girl approached, giving her a broad smile when she got close. Listening to the soft burr in her accent he smiled a bit more, he was a big fan of Ireland, though he had never been there yet. Looking down into stark silver grey eyes he didn't notice how much further had to look down, only that they were very pretty eyes.

"I can't figure out this change system they have in this country." He stepped aside from the machine and held out his hand to him. "All I want is a Apple juice and I can't figure which coin it wants?" He shrugged giving her an abashed smile.

Cirrus's smile broadened at his slightly embarassed expression and admission. She watched his broad shoulders roll in a small shrug and quickly looked down at his outstretched hand full of change to hide a slight blush. She glanced up at the apple juice then quickly pulled out the correct coins.

"I had a hard time too at first," she said, slipping the coins into the machine and pushing the correct button. She looked back at him over her shoulder as the bottle fell into the tray. She bent down and picked it up for him. "Would you like some company?" she asked, nodding her head back to her table.

Soft finger tips on his palms and a soft red tinge on soft pale cheeks, Kade's smile softened as he took the bottle of juice. "Thanks I appreciate it." He said taking the bottle, his rough fingers brushing her own soft ones for a moment. "And I would love some company, if I wouldn't be intruding on your solitude." He stepped away from the machines, but didn't immediatley move towards the table incase she was making an open request. "I'm Kade by the way." He said offering his hand.

Cirrus felt her stomach do a small flip as she felt the coarseness of his skin on her fingertips.

"You wouldn't be intruding at all," she replied, taking a small step backwards, unwilling to turn her back to him. "And I'm Cirrus." She ran a hand through her hair and gave him another small smile. "It's very nice to meet you Kade," she said, holding out her hand to him.

Taking her smaller hand gently in his he squezzed it lightly. "Its nice to meet you Cirrus." It was a lovley name, a small fleeting beauty that would carry on despite itself, fragile and perfect. The small smile and way she tucked her hair behind her ear, a nervous habit probably. She was shy, he could tell that, and for that much more was he glad that she had invited him to sit with her. Heading for the table, making it a point not to push his presence on her, he sat across from where she had been sitting and smiled up at her. "So Cirrus from Ireland, what are you doing in Ireland, so far from the Isle?"

Cirrus let her hand linger in his larger, calloused one. He was used to hard labor, she thought to herself. When he withdrew his hand from hers, she walked with him to the table, sitting down where she had previously been. Another blush crept across her cheeks. He had guessed where she was originally from, but she couldn't place his rich accent.

"I haven't lived in Ireland since I was eight," she replied. "I've just arrived here in Aquila from Los Angeles." She liked his smile and his gentle confidence. He made her feel relaxed where most other males tended to make her nervous. "I came here with my brother. Our uh... father thought he needed a new beginning," she said, softening her reality.

"What about you Kade? Where are you from?" she asked, reaching out to toy with the label on her juice bottle.

"LA is a bit of a change from Ireland, but I guess the what eight years you've been there have helped with the adjustment?" He guessed at her age, usually he could get within a few years of the actual, 16 seemed about right. He noted the falter on her mention of their father, but made no note of it and just kept on going. "It must be nice to be here with some one you know, I know I miss my own little sister alot." He said smiling lightly at his own mention of Laurel.

"But yeah we actually have a bit in common," He said following the subject change. "I lived in LA for a few years myself, but I've moved a few times, before that I lived in Texas, then once I turned 16 I made it a point to go back south." He wasn't one to offer up details about why he moved around so much, few people did, and really it wasn't something he thought on too much, it tended to bring up bad memories and anger he would just as soon not think about. "And now I find myself in the land of the Rising Sun, how do you think this country boy fits in to this little niche in society?" He said laughingly, knowing he wasn't one to fit into any real niche any where.

"Aye, America was a huge change from Ireland," she nodded. "And it was nine years," she corrected gently. At his mention of his sister, the softness in his eyes told her how much he cared for his sister. The look reminded her of Kayne, but at the moment she didn't really want to think about him. She could only imagine what would happen if he found her alone with another boy. She listened to his rich baritone voice, her eyes glued to his. So he moved around a lot too, she thought.

"Well... I don't think quite a few of us quite fit," she smiled, thinking of all the different people she had observed. Quite a few of them were obviously not Asian in any shape, form, or fashion. But she could see what he meant. Having just met him, she could already tell that he could care less about how others judged him. He was who he was and he wasn't about to change for anyone or thing. "Do you think this Irish girl fits into this little niche?" she returned easily with a small glint of mischieviousness in her grey eyes. After moving to America she and her brother had struggled to find themselves again, but only felt like they belonged to each other. She glanced down at her bottle, then back up at him.

"As for it being nice to have someone you know here..." she trailed off, thinking of her sweet escape, "It can get a little tiresome." She gave him another brilliant smile, again, tucking her hair behind her ear, her fingers sliding easily through her electric blue streak to end up in her lap.

"So what things do you like to do, country-boy Kade?" she asked him with a slight teasing grin.

So she was 17 and not 16, well he had been close enough. He smiled at her at the correction and nodded. For a moment he thought about leaning back, then he remembered that he was on a bench and not a chair, a quirky smile flitted across his lips as he redircted and put his elbows on the table before him.

"You are right on that account, no one here really fits into what society would deem normal." He thought about the people he had met so far and it was true, no one here was perfectly socially acceptalby normal. "But they sure do try don't they." He smiled broadly and then gave her a considering look. "As for you little lady, do you wanna fit into this niche?" The way she offhandly mententioned her brother's presence, that was another subject he would just flit over right now.

"As for what Country boys like me like to do." He actually laughed at that. "Well here I am, sitting in the sun, no cares, no homework, sitting with a pretty lady." He winked at her softly. "Enjoying a pretty day, I like that pretty well."

He was really outdoing himself today, this was the most he had talked in one span of time for quite awhile. He chalked it up to the fact that it was another American he was talking to, all be it one from California and formerly Ireland, but still American.

She laughed lightly at his comments. It was so true about everyone trying so hard. She leaned forward on the table, mirroring his stance and arched an eyebrow.

"What niche would you be refering to Kade?" she aske mischieviously, staring directly into his deep blue eyes. She glanced down for a brief moment when she felt a slight blush creep across her cheeks at his compliment and wink.

Kade's eyes went round for a moment at her comment on niches, and he wasn't saying he hadn't thought it, but he hand't thought she would be so blatant about it. Guess she's not as shy as I thought. He chuckled lightly at that and smiled at her soft blush. "You know I'm hungry, and its about lunch time, you up for a walk into town?" He totally skipped over the question for now, not really avoiding it but rather giving time for a good answer to evolve between them, no reason to rush around. "Besides, I need some smokes."

Cirrus's smile broadened at his surprised expression. She liked it when she was able to catch people off guard like that.

"I'm hungry too," she replied, "And a walk into to town sounds divine right now." Her mind flitted back to her brother. She was really enjoying Kade's company. The last thing she needed right now was for Kayne to suddenly appear and ruin everything.

She pulled herself up from the bench and tossed her bottle into the garbage. When she turned to face him again, she realized he hadn't answered her question. But she wasn't going to pursue it, she thought with another smile.

"I'm ready when you are Mr. Kade," she smiled charmingly.
