Since this is a christian guild, I thought I might as well strike up some bible talk.

About a week ago I was at a Bible study and someone had mentioned this verse - "On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." - Revelation 19:16.

This is of course in reference to the return of Jesus during end times, and an interesting point was brought up. The person said it sounded like the Bible was saying that Jesus would come back with a tatoo on his thigh. I don't really know if that's what it means or not. I just thought I'd ask what everyone here thought.

Could it have meant on the thigh of his robe? Just a thought.

I suppose it could mean that...But it seperately mentions his robe from his thigh. It says "on his robe AND on his thigh..." I'm not trying to cause any sort of controversy...I'm just trying to get everyone's opinion on it. And I'm not saying that I am right either...

I doubt it will cause a controvery. But it might make people think, which is never, ever a bad idea. I know it's make me go "hmmm" a little.

Well I was just worried about the controversy part because I know a lot of people who hold to the verse in the old testament about Christians not being allowed to tatoo themselves.

You mean...?

Leviticus 19:28

28 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.

Yeah, I always get people throwing that at me. Especially when I say I want to tattoo 'Salaam' on the inside of my arm, or tattoo a sword on my back or something. I have no idea why I want 'Salaam' tattooed on my arm in the first place though. x-o I also want to tattoo a small x on my wrist which I think would hurt like heck. o.o; Sorry, sorry, off the subject.

But I do think that would be really awesome, if he did have a tattoo. Sounds really wicked, I suppose someday we will find out if it's true. xD

((i don't mind if you talk about tattoos that you want..lol.))

yeah, I think it would be pretty cool if Jesus came back with a tattoo....and yes that is the verse I was talking about.

First, the verse specifies "for the dead". Don't get a tat of somebody's portrait because you're sad they died or in their memory. I could be wrong, but I think that's what was meant. Not "Don't you ever, ever, ever get a tattoo.... ever.".

Second, Jesus coming back to get us with a TATTOO? How awesome would that be? Maybe he'd have tattos of all His titles all over His body. I dunno. The way I pictured it itwould be awesome. And it would freak out my parents beyond belief and then I'd have to say "SEE, I told you it was OK to have a TATTOO! There so cool that even JESUS has one! You guys are so UNCOOL!" lol.

yeah, but it says you shall not make cuts in your flesh for the dead....then it says nor mark yourself with tattoos....it doesn't say for whom. But i had heard somewhere, that the only reasoning for the no tattoos rule was because at that time, that was how pagans and other types of tribes identified with one another..and the jewish people were not to look like these people. But anyway, I don't see what's so wrong with getting a tattoo..especially if it's for Jesus or God. I want a cross on my inner arm with scripture written on it...lol.

Anyway....I suppose we can debate this issue of tattoos if you all want to..but do try to keep it civilized..lol.

i dunno...lol. probably John 3:16, but that seems too cliche. Then I thought about Isaiah 53:5...but that also seemed a little cliche. so I haven't really decided yet.

I have no idea what that's about. I'm sure there's some historical significance to it. I find the idea of Jesus being a tattooed Jew....even post resurrection and definately knowing his own divinity, to be an extremely weird idea.

But I have no idea.

I just know that Jews don't get tattoos. It's enough to get you banned from being buried in a Jewish cemetary.

Yeah, that's because Jews still uphold all of the old testament laws.
