Okami
All right. Anyone who has heard of G4 Gaming Television has heard of X-Play. Any one who watches X-Play a great deal might recall their preview of the game demo they received at E3 2005, from Capcom. An absolutely gorgeous, jaw-dropping masterpiece that fascinated the reviewers from the moment they turned on their PS2. Even if it was entirely in Japanese and they couldn't understand what everyone was saying, they couldn't put the game down.
This game is known as Okami, from Capcom.
The story is that the player is a goddess come to Earth in the shape of a white wolf--birthing the name "Okami," a literal translation to "wolf". Your job is to go about the world and bring colour back to the darkening turmoil of the world. To accomplish this daunting task, you bring the colour through drawing. Take that Nintendo DS! If you're feeling gloomy, draw a giant sun in the sky! If you're feeling lonely, trace the constallations in the skies and bring them to life. They outdid themselves with the cel shading, giving everything a very tranquil, organic appearance.
Along with bringing colour back to Earth, you also help people with tasks they just can't seem to get done for one reason or another. For example, turning the water back on, helping with laundry, or giving people a lift. The gameplay was brilliant, the graphics could only be described as gorgeous... We just can't wait to get our hands on the game, as oppose to the demo. But, it seems we have to, as the game has not yet been released in even Japan. X-Play will grace us with their full review in Spring of 2006.
