It took little time for Naraka to figure out how to trick both his mother and his father. Though if he would get caught, he would easily regret it, yet his mind seemed to push that aside as he opened one lidded eye to see both his parents asleep. Moving slowly out of his mother's hold, he stood proudly in the starlight as the cool desert breeze filtered into the cave to keep away the heats from the day before. It would be better, in his mind, to have some fun alone at night, where the heat wouldn't bother himself nor his brother.
Turning to the said sibling, Naraka waited a moment to make sure his brother didn't actually fall asleep, all the while keeping an eye on both parents incase they were to awaken. At that moment, he felt the thrill of breaking rules fill his being, and it make him even more excited to rush out under the stars on his own.
Ra was ever one to follow his brother, amused at the very idea of wandering off alone. He didn't much want to invoke either's wrath at his disobedience, but hey, what they didn't know, couldn't hurt them, right? Watching his brother every now and again with one carefully opened eye, he noted when it was time to move, and, getting silently to his feet, he padded out after the other, like a set of markings and nothing more against the shadows, his pelt good camoflage.
He followed out into the nighttime, his footsteps muffled. As soon as they were out of earshot of the caves where the pride slept, he let his muzzle crack into a wide grin.
"They didn't even hear us, not one of them." he flicked his tail and added haughtily "We are so going to rock at hunting when we are older." When you lived in the desert, it was easy to think that your pride was the only thing in the whole world, and therefore that you were the only thing that mattered in the whole world. For Ra, this definition stretched to cover his brother too, he didn't consider the two of them entirely seperate, as such.
He fluffed his fur against the unfamiliar chill of the night and tilted his head "Didn't know it got so cold out here at night, I mean, I'd heard...but didn't believe."
Naraka stilled his steps and turned towards his excited brother, a small smirk forming on his maw as he looked at the only other one he trusted that night. It was really only Ra who could bring a true smile to his face, for while he respected his mother, she seemed to not connect as well as his brother did. And his father, though the strong protector, seemed something Naraka couldn't quite compete with. Yet, when with Ra, Naraka felt just even, and relaxed as well. It was strange, but Ra seemed to be his other half in a sense. While Naraka could think, Ra could stand up and fight in his place.
"I am surprised Mother was still asleep..." He murmered softly, though his eyes still held the wild thrill that his brother expressed, "...she was one I figured would wake right away...but she didn't even flinch when we left." Holding back laughter, he too ruffled his pelt, and looked around at the dark sands that greeted them.
"I heard as well...though it isn't that bad, or are you cold, Ra?" He asked in a playful challenge, smirk widening in a wise grin as he looked to see if his brother had a new weekness to be teased about. It was all in good fun, and usually they ended up wrestling as Ra easily returned his words straight back at them. They almost were like twins, their connection so feirce.
"Yeah, mum is really quick when she wants to be. Y'think maybe she was half-awake? Maybe she heard us?" he sounded ever so slightly tenative, he didn't want Nuri catching them for misbehaving. He reassured himself by thinking of Chomo's state when they left. "Well, at least I know dad was asleep, he was drooling a bit and he never does that when he's awake." he let out a quieted cackle. "He's a heavy sleeper."
Ra raised his lip in mock disgust, bringing a paw up to his chest in mock-horror "Me? Cold, in the desert? Nah, dad says we all but /are/ the desert." he flicked his tail like a whip from one side to the other before adding "So unless the sand says it's cold, I'm not cold!" as if to prove a point, he swept a paw at the sand below his feet. Ra wasn't good with words, or thoughts for that matter, he was all hyper action and merciless cruelty, he was the sort of lion that would tear all of the legs off a scorpion bar two and watch it try to flee. Of course, Naraka was outside that malicious streak, you didn't harm your own.
The rest of the lions in the pride were fair game though and Ra was sometimes a little too quick to toss a cheeky word in at an innapropriate moment. He wasn't as quick witted as Naraka and often started fights neither of them could handle if left to his own devices.
Raising a dark brow at his brother's responce, Naraka let out a soft chuckle of his own at the comment about their father. Both Chomo and Nuri seemed so content with eachother, and Naraka could easily tell when they went in public that it was a private relationship. Yet, being his mother's daughter, he also could tell what she showed no one else, her disdain with the pride around her. Gaining that trait himself, he too supported his brother's actions, but easily talked the adults out of it. If they were to get in trouble, Naraka knew just the right words to get them out of it in a flash.
Jumping out of his thoughts, he just blinked as Ra put the sands up in the air, and closed his eyes as the winds picked it up towards his form. Let his own paw swipe the air to get it out of the way, he found himself accidently hitting his brother's cheek, forgetting how close the darker one was.
"Oops..." He chuckled lightly to himself, taking a step back as his ears fell. Usually, when Naraka made such mistakes, it would cause both to go into a night little spar of sorts. And instead of waiting this time, Naraka decided he would get the upper hand and use it for as far as he could. Leaning back, he pushed all of his weight to slam into his brother in a pounce, trying to pin the stronger one down as soon as he could.
Ra also, despite his naturally less observationally inclined personality had picked up the dissatisfaction in his mother's manners, and to a more concealed degree, his father's too. He saw the older male cringe ever so slightly once at the sight of a prince gambolling like a child and understood. Cubs were a clean slate yet to be written by the world, well, Ra had been written upon and that word was disdain. No one outside his family circle was worth his trust or respect, hunter or no, he would learn to carry himself like a prince of the blood. Surely if those of that line were able to run around like cubs, a cub should be able to do the reverse?
Of course, all these thoughts ran through Ra's slightly tangled mess of a mind at different times but they came to their conclusion just after he hit the desert.
He was about to speak again when Naraka misjudged his defense against the sand, he was just about to rebuke the other the only way he knew how, with physicality when he was pre-empted. His red eyes widened in amused shock as for a change, he was knocked over. However, Ra was not one to take a challenge like that lying down, and with a playful rowl made every effort to roll Nar over and counter his move.
What Ra lacked in brains - quite a surprising amount- he made up for in brawn and enthusiasm.

As if mirroring his brother's thoughts, Naraka found himself feeling the same way. There was something about the world he was born into, and he was there to change it back to normal. Finding himself rolled over, Naraka unleashed his not-so-sharp fangs and got a hold of Ra's ear, his own high growl filling the night as the two fought for control. Like always, Naraka would try to get advantage with his brains, usually working until he ran out of the strength and his brother continued.
Finding himself soon unable to gain the above control, he let out a light laugh before his paws pushed Ra's off.
"I give." He said soon enough, the warm brotherly grin flashing at the only one who would ever see it. Sometimes, when Naraka was alone with Ra, he found all defenses falling and was left just feeling like a young cub again.

Ra hopped clear off his brother and stood, tail waving happily behind him, he didn't gloat his physical victory, such things were petty and he doubted he could ever best his brother in a battle of wits. Gloating was something he did to other people, lions whom he didn't respect.
Sitting himself down in the sand, Ra wrinkled his nose slightly "Wish we could sneak into the dens and gnaw some sleeping lion's ears off. I could think of a few lions in the pride that would look better without ears."
Ra's other trait was his bizzare thought tangents, you got used to them after a while.

"What is the fun in that?" Naraka asked him a moment later, the only sign of hearing the comment was the quick shift of gaze from where he was watching the distance, "The will wake up, and than they will probably attack us..." his voice faded away as an angry snarl crossed his features, clearly not having gotten the trait of hiding emotions from his mother.
"Why must we be so young? If only we were bigger, than this pride would learn to respect us, not coo us like some...some..." His voice sputtered out the first word on the top of his mind, "...some Mistweaver." Settling down on his haunches, he just started to grumble to himself. It was a clear sign that he could not figure out the next move, his mood darkening as he would brood for hours and thoes would wish not to cross his path.

Ra shrugged "Yeah. It'll be nice to be able to make it so that some lions won't ever wake up when we chew on them." Ra too was frustrated by his age, a very physical lion, he longed for the day when he'd be able to take an adult on in claw to claw combat, bravely standing up to even the largest opponents.
He frowned slightly, people usually stopped cooing over you if you bit them square on the paw with your sharp little teeth. Still, he wasn't sure how to placate his brother's anger.
"Well, we won't be small for ever, bro, we'll be able to kick butt eventually."

Naraka glanced towards Ra and sent him a fleeting grin, to show he appreciated the comment but just as soon as it came, it was gone again.
"Mother always says how we are the ones who must change the pride, that they must bend or break when they follow us soon. We are the leaders Ra...yet no one seems to listen." In his mind, he could picture the day when all of the new cubs would follow them, willingly or no, but they would let no one lead except for them. Even the great heir would follow their rules until he was crowned king, and maybe not even than. Standing, he just sniffed the air lightly before looking towards Ra.
"Should we go out farther?"

Baku had been keeping an eye on the Firekin for a few days now more to watch how his little toy was doing but with each passing day he began to notice something quite interesting. The youngest of the pride, two male cubs, would venture out to enjoy their freedom of the adults. This, had caught the Godlings attention and perked a growing plan within his mind. Maybe he could play with this and create even more havoc within the Firekin's pride. So, it was this night, that the young God chose to appear before the young Firekin but to their eyes he was nothing more but a mere mortal. Wings were disguised so all that was left that marked his heritage was his jewelry but then again, not many would pin point such glitters as that of the Gods since many mortals had begun to don such things.
Appearing a short distance behind the two Firkein Baku apprached them. "Oh, young cubs like you shouldn't wander far from home." A smooth, silk voice said from behind the two young ones. His frame was slightly larger than their own but none-the less it was quite obvious he was a cub but he carried himself in such a manner that said he was of someone of importance.
"What would your poor parents think if you should get into trouble? You certainly wouldn't appear to be good future leaders of the pride." The gems on his golden collar caught the sparse moonlight and flickered and sparkled when in the right position. Green eyes surveyed the two males, all the while tBaku couldn't help but wonder how naive these cubs would be. Would they become his new pawns to play with, to guide?

Ra spun round almost immediately on hearing the god's voice, his tail swishing angrily to mask his surprise. He narrowed his eyes at the "intruder" lacking the necissary braincells to be intimidated by his posture, to Ra, this other lion was unknown and therefore deserved nothing but his contempt. Gone was the playful stance he had taken with his brother, now he stood stiffly and warily, his tail swishing at his feet.
"Future leaders of the pride wouldn't NEED their parents." was his only statement before sitting down not far from Naraka, his brother was the wordsmith, he'd just be ready to attack if this odd lion tried to harm them in any way.

Naraka also spun around in surprise, though his eyes narrowed darkly in moments to hide any sign. Taking a moment to look the god up and down, he merely scoffed and turned his face to the side, showing that Baku was not worth his time and was lower than any Firekin. Letting Ra say the first words, he just calculated things from the once-over he had done, ticking building with each passing moment. After a moment, however, he slowly opened his eyes as his ears perked. Turning his head back upon Baku, a lone brow rose just like his mother would do whenever something entertained him.
"Our parents would congratulate us on the success of gaining a new slave in the form of a tresspasser who has no idea of his status on these sands." His head lowered as he kept his stance strong, just like he saw his parents do. The god was a tresspasser on the pridal lands, for they were the only cubs born as of yet, and one way to get good marks from the adults was to prove their worth. To capture a lion as a cub would be a feat only acheivable by a ture Firekin.

Baku did not mutter a thing concerning their reactions towards him. In fact the young God lowered onto his haunches allowing himself to relax on the cool sand before pushing a stray piece of mane away from his eyes with the back of a paw. Carelessly he looked upon the two with an almost bored expression. "You Firekin are all the same. Oh well, I should have figured as much when I approached you." He shrugged befoe continuing. "I would think you would be thanking me for delivering a slave into your clutches, oh, but then agian you were not quite born yet when she came around. Pity. She was quite the naive one to lure here, almost too easy actually. Oh well."
"Now, why are two cubs out and about and why do these specific two venture out every night? Surely their parents have noticed their dissaperance..." He muttered. "Well it would be easy enough to wake them. All they'd need is a little prompting and their dreams or nightmares should I say would abruptly wake them up."
Baku studied the two cubs who were tense expecting a fight. Oh, what fun! Maybe these two would be more of a challenge than his little Kiburi. She was far too easy to manipulate. Would the Firekin proove themselves to have some brain along with their brawn?

Ra maintained his indifferent stance, seated just behind Naraka. He wasn't sure what he thought of the other cub, getting a distinct impression that there was more to him than first met the eye. He unsettled the black cub slightly, though why, he couldn't be sure.
However, as Naraka spoke, the black cub nodded, he was right, this lion was nothing more than a slave, a slave which had no right to speak to them as he had. He narrowed his red eyes and picked up the swishing of his tail, letting the anger rise as the "fool" began to speak ill of the Firekin. He could speak ill of the others but not of his family.
"Wake them up if you want, they'd just tear you to pieces." he didn't even notice the other's mention of manipulating their dreams. "And I'd enjoy watching."

Though Ra did not pick up on the give away, Naraka did, and all of his anger and annoyance seemed to disappear. Looking to the side, he just blinked a moment before assumptions filled his thoughts. There was no way to understand how the other lion could manipulate dreams, except that he had abilities only spoken of in hushed tones. A scowl crossing his maw, he looked back towards Baku.
"Who sent you." He demanded all at once, stepping foward, "You must be a spy, be it for another pride, or for the gods themselves." Something prompted him to say the last part, for even afterwards, he found his eyes widening and his mouth coming dry. Turning towards his brother, he wondered just how it came out, before shaking it off.
"Ra, he is clearly a threat towards the pride, sneaking here at night. We know what we are to do with threats..."

Baku laughed. "Well it appears there are som ebrains with the brawn." He smirked. "You were much closer with the later reference, but I am not a spy sent from the God." And, I am not going to deny that I am a threat to the pride, but they don't need to know that.
Stretching out his fron half Baku yawned lazily. "Well now that we're past the first hurdle we might as well continue with our discussion." He looked to Ranaka. "You seem to be the brains of the two of you. Care to explain to me what you have been taught about the Gods so far? Whom created you and who else helps maintain your living here within the desert?" Baku was curious to see what the Firekin were teaching their youngsters. True, he heard rumors about this pride religion but he wanted to hear it first hand from the maws of two who were beginning their lessons.

Ra nodded to Naraka's words, not sure what to add to his accusations. When he was addressed, he nodded and smirked darkly, on ground he finally understood.
"Threats get skinned and fed to the vultures!"
As Baku dismissed him in favour of Naraka however, he let out a low grumble, narrowing his eyes.

Naraka eyed his brother before letting out a slow hiss, eyeing the god in front of him after the short answer. Stretching himself, he unsheithed his meager claws before rolling his eyes once.
"It is Finar-si who created us...her flesh and blood, and who left us here to dwindle up until this point." The other had asked, and he had supplied, "She is the goddess who blesses all the lands, there is no other that can match her powers. From her blood, the fire was built, bringing life until the plague struck." Licking his paw as if it was nothing, he finished the short summary.
"Shall I tell more, or are you done proving that you are no Firekin and thus have no right walking these sacred lands."
