MoogerMint led her harpy son through the trees of the park, a rolled up blanket under her arm while the hand tightly wound its way around a picnic basket. Her other hand held onto Hajari's hand loosely as she led them out of the crowding trees and into a wide field of grass. The kitsune stopped as they stepped out into the sun, inhaling deeply the crisp spring air and grinning ear to ear.

Hajari looked up at her quizzically, an index finger hooked on his bottom teeth. Taking his hand from his mouth, he asked, "Why didn't we bring any of the others? Why didn't Mika come? Why did we fix so much lunch?"

MoogerMint smiled down at the child as she led him along slowly through the grass. "You're going to meet your aunt and cousin today, and we're going to have a picnic with them. Sound like fun?" she chimed, stopping at what she dubbed as the 'perfect spot' and whipping out the checkered blanket.

Hajari watched as his mother did so, but unfocused. His stomach seemed to go cold at the thought and he swallowed, trying to stave off his usual shyness. "I have a cousin?" he squeaked. It wasn't so much of being afraid of family as it was meeting a stranger. He figured he would be able to relate to family until he realized that he wasn't exactly related to them. What if they didn't like him? What if they were mean?

As MoogerMint finished she couldn't help but smile at the kid. She could feel his nervousness emanating from him, being able to relate and recognize this sort of feeling as she had been very shy as a child herself. "Don't worry. I've heard she is a very sweet child. I'm sure you two will get along fine. Now sit down; they should be here at any time," she tried to soothe, but could still see the fear in his eyes. She snickered and patted the boy on the back, reassuring, "If anything goes wrong, don't worry. I'll be here, and my sister will be here, to even things out."

Hajari nodded in return, able to force a slight smile out onto his face. "Okay," he said, starting to relax as she said this.
