:Snowbunnies (1) : Winter seems to bring out the cutest of all rodents; this isn’t the first time that small, white rabbits have infested Destiny City. They’re small, rarely larger than a guinea pig, and have large eyes and wiggling noses. They are always pure white and seem to show up whenever there’s snow. They aren't menacing or evil, they're just everywhere. They seem strangely domesticated; they are sweet, curious, and friendly creatures that will eat anything you give them. They always seem cold to the touch, and when they shake, little snowflakes sprinkle off of them.

While they seem to be social creatures who seem to appreciate anything warm and will cuddle up to steal body heat, they are too skittish and fast to be kept for pets. They can show up just about anywhere, either alone or--often--in pairs. They tend to wander off on their own without any trouble, but if you surprise them or try to catch or hurt them, they may bite. Their little teeth are enough to break skin, but after one bite they run away. The bite itself isn’t bad, but the effects are a bit unpleasant: for roughly two days after the bite, the injury is cold and the victim will feel random, cold, shooting pains. Their core body temperature will drop and they will often be sent into random fits of shivering. No medicine seems to help, and no amount of blankets or hot baths can soothe the chill. You're just going to have to deal with it and hope it gets better…

Most experiences with the bunnies are perfectly pleasant, you just have to worry about them burrowing. There are holes peppering Destiny City, and with the fresh fallen snow it can be impossible to tell where they are hiding. The holes range from small holes to several feet deep, so can be a minor inconvenience to a potential hazard. On the bright side, sometimes you wind up covered in bunnies looking for warmth from their sudden guest. On the other hand, there are a rising number of trips to the hospital for twists and sprains. The bunnies always leave with the snow, so best to enjoy them--or avoid them--for as long as you can.

Cherish knew her dad was leaving her little half bropthers with her for the weekend as she slid into her front yard. TYhey'd gotten a babysitter for the last hour of her work shifty so she might earn her check and after dismissing the woman, Cherish looked around her home quizzically. Eric sat watching holiday cartoons with hot cocoa, but Cyrus and Eos were misasing, and she slowly looked for the twins warily. She didn't find them in their room, the play room, or even inside their usual spaces. Finally, Cherish entered the back yard and blinked.

Cyrus knelt beside his twin brother, the fluffier twin hugging Eops tightlky as Eos sat perfectly still, staring down at something in his arms. Small dollops of white rest as loaves p[ressed about Eos and Cyrus seeking heat and comfort, and Cyrus held his twin in silence before Cherish noticed the red riumming Eos' eyes and the distress ion his posture. In his arms was a small white rabbit - and there were a few holes in the back yard. It told Cherish enough as she approached, kneeling besides Eos gently, petting her little half brother's hair.

"Hey kid." Cherish grinned. "You miss Elektra huh?"

It was meant to be comforting, and easy as Cherish sat, a few bunnies moving to climb all over her desperately seeking her body heat., Eos nodded, ice cold tears on his face. Cherish sighed, and reached, pulling Eos into her lkap with Cyrus.

"I miss my Mom too." Cherish admitted. Both twins' heads snapped up to stare at her with intelligent, quizazical eyes, and Chewrish faltered, realizing they didn't know a thing.

"Why? Isn't your Mommy alive?" Eos asked. Cyrus nodded, brows furrowing, and Cherish sighed.

"My Mom isn't... Nice to me anymore. She wasn't a good mommy in the end. She tried, but she did something really bad." Cherish sighed. "My tgwin too."

"You're a twin?>! Twins shouldn't hurt twins!" Cyrus gasped. Eos looked up with a silent ire, eyes narrowing as he spoke upo.

"Twins are supposed to love3 and protect one another!" Eos snapped. Th4e snow bunny in gis arms snuggled closer to him, and Eos stroked it as Cherish nodded.

"You'd think. Reynard is... Diffuicult." Cherish sighed. Cyrus motiuoned.

"Buyt Cherry! What did they do?! 'Specially if your own twin was so BAD?!" Cyrus demanded. Cherish winced. She was silent a moment, and sighedm, eyes shutting. She thoyught she'd tell her little brothers older. Less innocent. She was struggling to find words as she reached, gathering a snow rqbbit into her arms, and held it to her chest in a silent show of despair. She still remembered that fight. And it hurt. It had hiurt to learn she had a father whom remarried, but more to learn she never had a chance to know him sopopner because her mother decided to hide.

Cherish and Reynard had been from a fling. An innocent one nighter. Instead of confronting Lawrence when she found herself pregnant though, their mother ran to her father and brother. Their mother had them as a single mother and never tiold anyone until Reynard was a teenager. They'd kept it from her.

Cherish supposed they wanted to protect her,. They saw her as soft and delicate and gentle. She'd been exzceedingly soft and timid originally too. Even as Limosa... She was afraid. At least, originally. She hadn't fouind fdooting...

Until she found out. Found out her father was alive and met him. Seeing those innocent faces, Cherish sighed.

"Well, yopu see, I didn't know Dad sooner because Mom and her family decided not to tell him he had Reynaqrd and I. I used to be very timid and shy so nobody wanted to tell me. When I found out Dad was alive and tracked him down to meet, they got mad at me. Mom said he probably resented knowing he had adult twiuns. Rey... My twin told me if Dad loved us... He'd have saught us out, not married and had replacements. But he just didn't know. Grandpa Louis told me to try. But Mom and Rey told me to leave. So I left, that's how you three met me." Cherish hugged her rabbit tightly. The bunny nuzzled and relaxed in her arms, a soothing motion, before Eos spoke, quietly, as Cyrus angrily kicked snow.,

"Your Mom was bad too. I'm glad you picked Dad." Eos said quietly. It surprised Cherish as she looked at Eos. Cyrus faltered.

"He's right. Mom hurt Eric trying to make him listen the day she died. I wish Dad saw the superhero who saved us! Mom was a BAD villian!" Cyhrus huffed. Eos nodded, hiurting a bit less.

"He's a nice super hero. I wish police weren't mean toi them, that's dumb as noodles. And I like noodles. Mama acted scary. Desperate. She screamed. I miss when Mom had been nice."

It was perspective Cherish never expected and fiuled away to inform Lawrence later.

"Did... You tell your Daddy what she did? And the police?" Cherish asked. Cyrus faltered.

"I was hugging Eric." Cyrus adm, itted. Eos had less discre3tion.

"I told them everything. Mommy got mean and scary. She screamed at us and tried takling us from home. She tried telling us Daddy didn't want us anymore. I told them she hurt us because she did. I told them I tried protecting Cyurus and Eric and then someone made it stop so we hid." Eos looked down, kissing the snow rabbit between the ears shyly. Eos was ever the sensitive one. Delicate. Soft. At the same time Cherish suspected Eois wqas also capable of being the most protective. Eos continued.

"At least your mommy's just dumb and mean. Not scary and suddenly different and bad. Can we meet Grandpa Louis sometime Cherry?" Eos looked upo, and Cyrus looked at her with him. Cherish blinked, saurprised.

"Grandpa Louis? Sure -- sometime, if your okay with boring old men with too many books and a frenemy next door." Cherish blinked. Cyrus wrinkled his nose.

"Books are gross and boring." Cyrus declared. Eos seemed more thoughtful, eyes closing a moment.

"Letters." Eos noted,. Cheriush nodded.

"Those he'd like I think. Grandpa Louis was and is a nice man." Cherish huygged her own raqbbit, and Cyrus watched as most rose, leaping for theiur holes, the one in Eos' arms remaining a moment longer before escampering. Cherish allowed her own to flee as Eos hugged his sisater tightly, eyes closing.

"
I'm glad you picked Dad Cherry." eos said quietly. Finally, he looked up.

"Can we have Spaghetti for dinner? Or Macaroni and Cheese?" Eos asked, and Cherish smiled.

"Absolutely." She assured, and moved to lead them inside. "And I'll make more hot chocolate, too!"
