Meallan was pretty excited for the winter party. He'd been helping where he could, especially since he was a prefect. He listed all the fun activates to Aina, who he'd asked to go along with him. He considered her a close friend, but he also knew she didn't much like crowds. So for now, he figured they could do something a little less busy. The day of the dance, he pulled on the snowflake jumper that Nana had knitted for him. He was debating on wearing a cozy hat, but that would make it harder to hear. Of course, Aina was well skilled with BSL, but she often turned her ears off, leaving him to be the only one who could hear. So for now, he'd wear his earmuffs somewhere other than Herbology Class.

Once he was all dressed and his messy hair had been combed, Meallan headed upstairs to the main floor. He and Aina had agreed to meet in the antechamber, and when he stepped in, he realized she'd beaten him there. She was looking at the gingerbread houses and he was glad he had experience building them with Papa Milo. He walked over, gently tapping her hand to get her attention and (hopefully) not startle her. "Hi Aina! Did you want to build gingerbread houses?" He grinned over, excited to spend time with his friend.

When Aina said that she'd heard him coming, Mea nodded. He never was sure if she had her ears on or not. Then again, last year had been his year to keep his ears off whenever he could. The new ones, however, worked a lot better.... and also didn't squeal into his brain. Aina explained that she'd never built a gingerbread house, then smiled and asked if he ever had. "Yes, actually! My Nana has a gingerbread day every year before Christmas. I bet you can come this year if you want! There's always way too much candy." He laughed, then moved to sit beside Aina.

He worked on gathering a few pieces of gingerbread and one of the piping bags of frosting. While he was getting supplies, Aina pulled his sleeve so he looked over at her. When asked if they could eat the candy, Mea grinned. "That's arguably the best part! Here, we'll use the frosting as glue to hold our gingerbread together, then we can use it to stick the candies on." He set a piece of gingerbread in front of them, carefully working the icing out before pressing another piece against it. He smiled over, hoping she was as excited as he was.

As he did his best to build the foundation for the gingerbread house, Mea kept glancing over at Aina. He really hoped he could make it a fun day for her. She needed a nice fun day. He grinned when he noticed her eating a gumdrop, then laughed when she pantomimed taking notes. She also giggled, which was something he'd never heard. Man, he was glad he got his ears fixed, lest he miss that! He watched her grab the other two wall pieces and put them together. He carefully piped the other two sides, leading all four pieces to stand together. "You totally are! Now we just have to line the top edges and make the roof. After that, it's time for candy decorations!" He popped a mini marshmallow into his mouth, grinning at Aina. He was glad she was having fun with this, since it was a favored winter activity.
