Quote:
The Leaves (4) : With the changing seasons, there are piles of leaves all around Destiny City. It’s a difficult job to try and keep up with them all, and sometimes the allure of these leaf piles is impossible to ignore. Who doesn’t want to relive the childish joys of their youth? And no one’s around to see, right? So why not jump into a pile of leaves? Oh–because, when you do, you jump through one pile and come out of another somewhere else across the city. The leaves all seem ordinary, but there’s a few odd seconds between when you jump into the leaves and when you jump out; it feels like falling, tumbling, somersaulting through the air. It’s not scary, just odd. You see walls of leaves–brown and orange and yellow and red–and they crunch magnificently. Overall, it doesn’t seem menacing, just a bit of trickster fun. If you try to jump in a pile of leaves again, you might wind up somewhere else entirely–or right back where you started.

Things were changing. Not just the season, but Celadonite’s life. He had been sleeping for so long…and now that he was back…something was different. Something was wrong. He couldn’t put his finger on what it was but…

He was out of the house for the first time in what felt like forever, and though the air was getting a bit chilly, it felt nice. He had a spot of sunlight that he was basking in, back against a tree and beautiful orange and yellow leaves were everywhere. The aesthetic of them slowly falling was…fantastic. It was such a beautiful day…and he supposed that part of that was due to the fact that he was awake, alert and enjoying himself…and a little bit warm.

The sun was just. Fantastic.

Giving a soft sigh, he yawned and closed his eyes, fully preparing to nap in this sunbeam. The strange rustling of the leaves nearby didn’t bother him. He was a General and was more than capable of dealing with any kind of threats.

Necro was beginning to hate the changing of the seasons. More specifically, he was beginning to hate the approach of colder seasons. It wasn't the changing of the colors, the seasonal flowers, the falling leaves or anything like that. He just... hated the cold.

Just the cold.

The cold meant he was out of time and he'd have to wait a few more months before he could even begin...

Necro sighed. Now was not the time to get caught up in his head like this.

The Squire ran a hand through his hair... It was rather nice out, all things considered. There was even a pile of leaves near by. Some kids must have been in the area earlier and were playing in them...

Oh what the heck.. Might as well. He'd done dumber things... He had the scars to prove it. Plus who was going to stop him this time?

Crossing the distance, Necro spun on his heel, falling backwards into the leaves, only for his stomach to drop as he went...

Tumbling?

Necro stumbled from the leaves, confused. What just happened? Was that what teleporting felt like? Ew. He was glad he never had to do that.

When he felt the aura, Celadonite held back a sigh and squeezed his eyes shut with more force. Hopefully, maybe whoever it was would just…go away. They were weaker than he was, so they should know that this wouldn’t be any kind of a fair fight but then.

The voice. Clearly he had been spotted or felt and his hope for a nice warm nap was shattered.

Bearing his fangs, Celadonite teleported right behind the aura, claws at the Squire’s throat. “What the ******** yourself? You dare to interrupt my…”

His eyes opened and he paused. “...My…nap….”

He knew this Squire, and for a moment he wasn’t sure if he wanted to simply let go or rip out the throat in front of him. …Both seemed like adequate responses. He had absolutely gotten cold feet and had avoided things with this man. With the other Saturn Knight who had subtly threatened him…he had avoided the whole play of purification and just…vanished. But.

It was complicated.

Aw ******** course this cities bullshit would dump him in front of an officer. Of course. He really should have seen that coming.

He froze, not from the claws at his throat, but from the voice. Oh. Well, this made things... interesting.

"If... memory serves, I did have a habit of doing that." Necro said quietly. "That or your usually saving my a** from something stupid that I've done." Getting his throat ripped out by a tired half youma definitely qualified as something stupid. Reaching up, the Squire gently touched the claws at his throat. "Hey, I'm going to turn around... Okay?" It was the General's only warning.

He did so slowly, careful of the other's claws. Not cause they were around his throat, but because he didn't want to put the other on edge more then he probably already was at this point.

Celadonite lowered his hand and took a step backwards, hesitating. “It’s good to see that you’re still all in one piece, I suppose. I know you’re going to be disappointed in me, or if not, you should be.”

He had vanished. He was good at vanishing. Honestly…if he were being honest with himself, there was no real need to ever wake up anymore. Sleeping was easier. Sleeping was kinder on himself and others and maybe.

“I can just go. I was enjoying the sun but. I can go.” Maybe he should just…do it instead of just talking about it. Why was he so weak when it came to this?

"I am... alive, I suppose." Necro snorted. "Should be, maybe your right. But I'm not." They could call it even stevens for all the times Cela was disappointed in him. There were definitely feelings involved, but disappointed wasn't one of them.

The Squire closed the distance, taking a step forward and hugging the other as tight as he dared. "I've missed you." He said softly. "You don't have to go. Please? I'm not gonna chase you off." Necro couldn't entirely blame him. He'd hidden before too. Sometimes he still thought about hiding. Just walking off and never coming back. "Are... Are you okay? How have you been?"

“Alive is better off than dead.” Celadonite murmured, stiffening at the hug but not pulling away. He didn’t return it right away, but he didn’t pull away either…and finally, finally his own arms wrapped loosely around the Squire’s shoulders. “...I let you down though. I was supposed…to leave and then I didn’t. I know I’ve missed my chance. That other one…he told me I had the one chance and that was all…I…understand that I can’t…”

Swallowing he sighed, arms moving lower slightly, pulling the Squire a bit closer, enjoying his warmth as he had the sun. “...I can’t leave. I don’t know. What I want anymore. I don’t think I want anything anymore, if I’m honest…”

"Alive doesn't mean that I've been functioning okay though." He pointed out.

"It's okay. I can't be mad at you for that. Thinking about... all that is some terrifying stuff, even more so when you set out to do it. I went and hid too. I was beyond terrified when I did it. Just cause that time didn't work, doesn't mean you're out of options. We don't have to try now if you're not up to it."

He sighed quietly, hugging Celadonite back. "It's okay." He promised. They'd figure something out. "I'm sorry I didn't find you sooner." Sorry, that he didn't try harder. "I can't imagine you actually want to go back to the cold of the Rift."

Gently, Necro rested his head against the others. "... I want to take you home..." He murmured. "We could be done with all of this. You wouldn't have to hide away and practically freeze..."

Necro hated how pointlessly complicated this was.

"I... I have something, some place, I want to show you.. if you're up for it? All you have to do is trust me. But we don't have to go if you don't want to."

Celadonite hesitated, and then gave a small shrug, pulling away slightly, “I suppose it would depend on where you wish to take me…and how long it would be for? I’m. I wasn’t.”

He wasn’t mentally prepared for this. This had been a simple nap in the warmth, just a few seconds of time alone but now? Now…

The General closed his eyes for a moment and shook his head slightly. “Where do you want to take me. And why?” Ideally, he didn’t distrust, Necro but…

It had been a long while. And things could change. Far too easily.

Necro made a face, though whether that was because Cela pulled away, or from the question, was anyone's guess. "I don't suppose just saying it's 'somewhere I haven't taken anyone else' will instantly win you over... Will it?"

No. Probably not.

"I told you... I wanted to show you something. Think of it like a surprise?" He offered weakly. "This isn't like... a trap or anything you know. I'm not going to force you into anything you don't wanna do. You know I wouldn't do that to you." Even with all his whining.

"As for... Where.. You have to promise to be normal about it. Because... I meant it. You would be the first person I've taken there, at all." And he still wasn't entirely use to going there himself. "It's probably gonna be a bit... doom and gloom, but I can't really help that, considering where it is.. But it's better on the inside?" At least he hoped it would be. He'd spent a fair bit of time trying to make it better.

"It's um...I wanted to take you to... my wonder." He mumbled quietly. "There is something there for you. Actually I set something up... for you there. Please? We don't have to stay there long if you don't want to. Just let me show you."

Celadonite hesitated, and really…you couldn't blame him, and he was trying very hard to not blame himself but the idea…was almost frightening. It had been so long since he had seen the Squire, since he had seen anyone from this group and…

Truly, it felt like a trap. “...Could…we postpone? I’m not. I mean. I just…”

He took another half step backwards and was trying very hard to not break into a panic, to not lash out in his panic. But.

“Perhaps…we could set up another meeting? And do this…on purpose? If that goes well we can figure out…me going to your…Wonder.”

A place that he couldn't escape from on his own. Where Necro would have him completely at his mercy…and anyone else that he chose to bring up there as well. It.

Didn’t feel like a good decision by any stretch of the imagination.

"That's fine. I wasn't-" Necro let go as Cela stepped back, giving him the space he needed. But he still offered his hands, palms facing up, if Cela wanted them.

"Baby, look it me." He said, trying to regain the General's attention. "I wasn't expecting it to be right now, let alone today. I'm sorry if I made it seem that way. We do this how you want it, okay? There's just something there that I wanted to show you. It can be an in and out thing if you want it to be, when we do it." He hoped it wouldn't be, but only time would tell.

"It would be just me and you. No one else. I promise, Love. I'm not... I wouldn't... I wouldn't just... You know I wouldn't do that to you, right?" Did Cela think it was a trap cause of everything that had happened? "Where and when did you want to meet up?" He asked, trying to distract. "Do you want me to bring you something warm? I can grab you one of my hoodies if you want? They might be a bit... baggie. I tend to get them larger then I actually need them to be. I can... tell you about what I wanted to show you, next time, if that makes you feel better. Though it's gonna ruin the surprise."

Baby. Celadonite did look up at the word but was frowning slightly, looking, if anything, more uncomfortable. “...You don’t know me any longer, Necro. I don’t…know you...”

But he supposed…that could be helped. Fixed. Remedied.

He let out a slow breath and shook his head, and then nodded, and then shook his head. “A week. Come back here in a week. I’m not ready to go anywhere with you right now, but. Give me time to think about it. You can tell me about…your Wonder then. This…was a fluke, and honestly, I’m not sure that I believe in flukes so…it very well might be a trap, a setup. So. In a week, come here again and we’ll see what happens.”

Celadonite didn’t like the idea of any kind of surprises, but he wasn’t going to say it now. All he could do now was take another step backwards and hesitated. “A week. Here.”

And before anything else could be said, he vanished, teleporting away. Away from the sunbeam. Away from the Squire.

Away from any kind of danger.
