Quote: The Leaves (4) : With the changing seasons, there are piles of leaves all around Destiny City. It’s a difficult job to try and keep up with them all, and sometimes the allure of these leaf piles is impossible to ignore. Who doesn’t want to relive the childish joys of their youth? And no one’s around to see, right? So why not jump into a pile of leaves? Oh–because, when you do, you jump through one pile and come out of another somewhere else across the city. The leaves all seem ordinary, but there’s a few odd seconds between when you jump into the leaves and when you jump out; it feels like falling, tumbling, somersaulting through the air. It’s not scary, just odd. You see walls of leaves–brown and orange and yellow and red–and they crunch magnificently. Overall, it doesn’t seem menacing, just a bit of trickster fun. If you try to jump in a pile of leaves again, you might wind up somewhere else entirely–or right back where you started. If a regular civilian passed Bernard right now in one of the parks, they would only see a cat staring at a pile of leaves, most likely in an attempt to follow a squirrel or chipmunk or some other creature that cats would be fascinated with. But Bernard wasn't just any cat. And this wasn't just any pile of leaves. Or so he believed. It was around this time of year last year that he had jumped into a pile and had been teleported elsewhere in the city. And now when they gathered up Bernard was wary of them, wondering if this was yet another strange magical pile. After all, if the city was the one cleaning up these leaves, wouldn't they take them all before the day ended? Or perhaps it was some Negaverse plot? His tail waved back and forth in slight irritation at the non-answers he was getting looking at the pile, and he was so distracted that he didn't feel any auras that were in the area.

Aurora walked out of her new bookshop and shortly after transformed into Lacaille senshi of books to go patrolling. She didn't think anything of jumping into the pile of leaves near her book shop. She had recently opened it had been a lot of work and it was partly a used book shop and had some new things in it as well. She jumped, and when she looked up she realized she was no longer anywhere near her bookshop. She blinked as she looked around, unsure what had happened or why. She hadn't had the chance to sense any auras as she was still trying to shake off the feeling of falling.

Bernard would have jumped higher in the air except for the amount of girth that he had, which only made him jump 3 feet instead. His fur was standing on edge and he attempted to figure out the situation. There was a Senshi... was that all that had happened? He moved his head side to side quickly before letting out a sigh. "My lady you surprised me! I knew this was no ordinary leaf pile..." He muttered the last bit before looking at the Senshi again. "Are you all right?"

Lacaille blinked as she saw the guardian cat jumping from her unexpected arrival. She had no idea what part of the city she had ended up in as she looked around she knew she certainly wasn't where she had started. She looked at the guardian and said "I'm alright I think. Are you alright?" She asked. After all it was clear that she had startled him terribly. She looked around again trying to figure out where she was compared to her shop or her home. She sighed spooky season at it again it seemed.

"Y-yes, yes I am young lady." He said with a nod, his tail smoothing out a bit. "The same thing happened to me last year and so I was inspecting this pile as it seemed a bit suspicious. I'm glad you are unhurt." He said as he walked towards her before looking at the pile again. "You're in one of the parks within the city, closer to where I live." He hadn't wanted to travel very far. "I don't believe we have met. I am Bernard." He said with a slight bow.

Lacaille sighed out she was really glad she hadn't accidentally harmed the guardian cat. That was the last thing she wanted to do after all. She listened to him and then said "No I don't believe we have met before." She agreed "I am Lacaille, senshi of books." She said by way of introduction. She was familiar with guardian cats, considering she had Coco living with her. She was glad she was still in the city, she knew that there were some strange magics that could take people to strange places indeed. She had heard that one Halloween, factions had been removed from this world and put into a creepy village.

"It is very good to meet you Miss Lacaille." He said with a head nod. "Let us get away from this leaf pile lest we accidentally fall in and land somewhere neither of us know. "Though I have had experience with them before, I did not go and test to see if they would take one to the same place that they came from. I would rather not have to experience it again." He said, sighing, taking a few steps away from the pile. "I know a good cafe around here that we can stay at until you can find your way home, or perhaps there may be some familiar sights around here that will help you know the way. At any rate, I shall accompany you until you are safe."

Lacaille nodded as she moved away from the pile of leaves. She sighed and then said "I can't help but agree, I think I'd rather walk or get a ride share back to my home rather than jump into any more leaf piles this season, which is sad since leaf piles are fun to jump in." She looked at them again "I also worry child will jump into them and get separated from their families." She smiled and then said "That sounds lovely, let's go there."

"Great!" He said, his fur-stache curling a bit more. "It's not too far from here, and we can get to know each other a bit better on the way." He said as he started to move in the direction of the cafe. "How long have you been a Senshi my dear? What do you like to do the most?" He got quiet for a moment as he saw someone in the distance coming their way, before they took a turn in another direction. "I apologize if this is too much. As long as I have been at all of this, I still don't know very many Senshi. I have awakened a few and also helped a few to get to their next stage, but I think I know more Mauvians than I do Senshi." He said with a chuckle, finally making it to the street that the cafe was on, though it still required some walking.

Lacaille smiled at the guardian cat as they started walking. "I have been a senshi for a few years now." She laughed as if that wasn't easy to guess. "I like reading and writing, fate was correct that I am the senshi of books, or perhaps I always was. Is that how it works with senshis?" She asked. She considered that and then said "I suppose that makes some sense.." She said softly. She wasn't bothered by Bernard not talking in front of civilians, it made sense. "So this cafe is it special or will you have to pretend to be a normal cat there?"

If Bernard could shrug while he was walking on four paws he would have. "Who knows my dear. I have met at least a few Senshi who seemed to have no connection to their Sphere, but I think it's even more special when it's a sphere that you already fit in with well." He continued to walk but was quiet for a moment. "But, I believe every Senshi grows into what their Sphere is and the connection at the end of the road becomes strong for all of them. But, I can't say if you are wrong or right. I believe a study would need to be done and I'm not sure if I'm up for all of that... work." As willing as he was to go out and help Senshi, anything after that usually fell into his "I'd rather be napping" time. He chuckled a bit at her next question. "Yes unfortunately I'll have to be a normal cat. But they seem quite amused with me and I usually get something out of it." He said, giving her a wink. "Whether it's pets or treats. This cafe at least is pet-friendly."

Lacaille smiled and said "Well, I am glad then if that is the case." She laughed, "Well, perhaps someone will do that someday then." She nodded and then said "Well, then let's go and see what treats we can get you and then I will find my way home." She already noted well enough where she was and figured it wouldn't be too hard to get home from here. She just knew she would be avoiding leaf piles nows.

"Yes! I'm sure you'll find something you like in there. They have very delicious ham and cheese croisants that I like to get. Though if you are a vegetarian there are many other options to choose from. They even have a space for gluten-free foods..." Bernard kept describing the cafe until they came to it's doors, a nice little cafe on a corner of the street. He let Lacaille go first and followed after her, sending a friendly meow towards the staff to let them know he was now here and could they please treat him? He was just so hungry and totally starving!

Lacaille smiled as she listened to Bernard she ordered the ham and cheese croisant, so she could share some with him, in case the staff didn't give him things he liked. After all they would think he was a cat, she figured she could sneak treats to him and they could have a pleasant afternoon together. (Fin?)

Bernard was grateful for the offering, though the staff had chuckled at the interaction. Luckily they were both able to eat before going home and hopefully neither of them would fall victim to leaf-pile teleportation again. MiddyGlow end post from me, thank you for the rp!
