The days on the lands of the soquilis has been so hot and unbearable. The temperatures had been gone up so high to where most of the soquilis would have to keep to the cooler areas like the valleys by the mountains or the mountains itself. This has gone for many weeks of the summer. Little foals could be seen in the rivers or sandy beaches to try to keep cool. One day.. A Monsoon like storm finally bring the cooling rains to the area....
A kirin that has a nightsky base and golden scales could be seen coming out of the shaded to stand under the rain. "... Finally." She then shook her whole body to get all of the rain under her scales and feathers to feel the cool temps even more. One of the herds yelled for her. "Miyako!" The kirin turned her head towards the herds only to give them the masked smile. She was still hurting and grieving for the disappearance of her first soulmate. "Hi." She called out. They had invited her to enjoy the days of the cool weather. One of them noticed the sadness. "Miyako.. Why don't you try to find someone again?" They asked. Miyako flattened her ears slightly as she looked towards the horizon. "I don't know.. I don't know if I am ready for.. " She glanced towards the herd once again. "You never know, Miyako.. You'll never know if you don't try."
Miyako couldn't help but nod at their words. "I'll think about it. For now.. Let us enjoy the monsoon and the cool weather." She smiled slightly, bending her head down to graze on the wet grass.
For the next few days, she did just that.. slowly enjoying the cool weather. Deep down, she wanted the winter to come. She wanted to feel the pain of the ice.
One morning, she stepped out of her cave where she had made her home. Her face came in contact with the heat. "....!!!!!" She widened her eyes. "No.. No.. Not this heat." She stomps nervously on the ground. Sometime during the night, one of the familiars from the herd came to braid her tail and mane to keep it out of her eyes and off of the ground. She was grateful for that alone...
Something told her to go out and just explore by the river. She finds the hidden path in the woods that would lead her to the river. She stops every now and then to eat some clovers which are her favorite things to eat. She soon got to the edge of the woods, glancing down at the river which had several soquilis there. She had recognized most of them all except for one. "Hmm?"
It was a silverish blue pawed mare that was a bit nervous at the river. She was very new to the herd. Miyako thought that Snowlily must have invited her into the herd. She walked down the beaten down path to the river, smiling slightly at those who had recognized her. She murmured hellos to various soqs. She then stopped down to drink some of the cool water.
The silverish blue mare was watching most of the soquilis that were around her. She trots to stand by the lead mare, Snowlily. She was the only one that could be trusted at this moment. Snowlily chuckled softly. ".. Kannika.. It is okay. No one will hurt you here. The shifters here are very loyal to the herd. There are some that are mean but they will leave you alone." She looked towards the herd. "Each one of them were new at one point or another." Kannika nodded softly as her familiar, Hoshi stood close to her. ".. You sure, Ms. Snowlily?'
Snowlily couldn't help but laugh. "My dear, the day someone hurts you.. is the day that they'll see my wrath. There has only been one that has seen it. Since then, everyone had learned not to mess with me." She winked softly. "Now.. go.." She noticed Miyako who had arrived at the river. She smiled at her, knowing the pain within her that fights daily. "...Kannika?" She glanced towards her. "There is someone that you should meet." She nudges her towards Miyako. "Go... Her name is Miyako."
Kannika listened and hung to every word that the herd leader was saying. She had started daydreaming during that moment, wondering what happened that got Ms. Snowlily's wrath to come out. She jumped slightly when she felt the nudge. "Huh.. what?" She blinks quickly to get back to the present. That is when she noticed Miyako. She glanced towards Snowlily then at Miyako. "Kannika.. She needs a friend. I won't say why but.. I think you two can help each other."
Kannika nodded slightly and slowly walks into the water to get to Miyako. Hoshi follows behind her, keeping an eye out for anything. "Hoshi.. let me know if we gotta move or something." Hoshi grins. "Sure. But I do agree with Ms. Snowlily." Kannika groaned as she wondered why Miyako was the one she needed to meet.
Miyako's ears pricked up at the sounds of the water sloshing and she stops drinking. She glanced towards the river, realizing that the silverish blue mare was heading her way. Her deep pink blush appeared on her face. "... w.. Why am I blushing like a young foa.. foal?" She muttered to herself. She steps back a bit and smiled at her. ".. um.. Hi.."
Kannika perks up shyly, and smiled. "H.. Hi.. " She glanced around in the herd then felt the heat. "..My name is Kannika. This is Hoshi. Would you like to get out of the heat?" Miyako sputtered slightly and nods. ".. y.. YES!" She blushed even deeper. "I mean.. Yes." She giggled slightly. "Come with me to the woods."
They both slowly turned to walk up the beaten path that lead to the woods. Kannika stopped for a moment to look at Snowlily who smiled while giving her a nod. Kannika smiled and followed Miyako into the woods
Several minutes later, they reached inside the woods where it is much cooler. Miyako slowly stopped and turns to look at Kannika. ".. I am Miyako. These are the woods near my den. The.. They are often better to be in when it is hot like this." She glanced towards the woods. "At night, it is much safer. The fireflies comes out." Kannika glanced where Miyako was looking then stared at the female kirin. She tilts her head. "... You're in pain. Aren't you?"
Miyako gasped when she heard the words then glanced towards her. Her ears flats down slowly as tears fall. "Yes." Kannika walks up to her. ".. Emotional pain?" Miyako just stared at her, letting her silence answer for her. The silver mare frowned softly. "I know the heat is unbearable. I also know that the pain is as well. But.. um.." She glanced towards the woods. "If it is okay with you, I would like to be with you and guide you through the pain, Miyako." Miyako couldn't believe what she just heard. She glanced towards the familiar besides Kannika who smiled.
Hoshi shook her head softly. "Oh, Kanni.." She walked up towards Miyako. "Ms. Miyako. Kanni here is an empath. She is very sensitive to emotions. It is why she says what she says. It is okay to trust her." The kirin pawed the ground nervously as she glanced to the woods once more. "I thought I would have to spend the rest of the year alone.. My mate.. first ever soulmate di.. disappeared." More of the kirin's tears fell. Soft sobs could be heard. "Pl.. Please.. I would love for you t.. two to stay with me." Kanni frowns softly and gets closer to her. "Miyako.. You are not alone. You won't ever be alone ever again." She gave her a nuzzle.
Hoshi then speaks up. "Ms Miyako.. Why don't you take us to your home? We can spend the rest of the fall to help you heal... " Miyako's sobs got louder for a bit as she nodded. She turned to walk towards the cave den. It took her everything not to run towards it. Kanni walked right by her, allowing her to be the one that offer touch. She didn't dare to push the mare into doing something she wasn't comfortable with.
From that moment on, the two mares would spend the rest of the hot days, just talking and exploring down memory lane. They took the time to learn about one another. Slowly.. the pieces of her heart would be mended without Miyako even realizing...
