[Some time between the end of the World Champion Cup and the incident in Almia.]
It was another day, if this place even had days, in the mystical realm of eternal light known as the Fairy Realm, the domain of the Tree of Life, Xerneas itself. A certain young Fairy Channeler has chosen to remain here for the time being to recover from previous fights and to learn how to master her abilities to be a better successor to her master, Succellus, as the next Herald of Life, the hand of Xerneas. While young Ulla holds tremendous potential, as Sub once claimed possibly the most latent power he has ever seen, she still has a lot way to go to realize the true depth of that power. Furthermore she had another goal, one given to her by the aforementioned man, and that was to purify the Soul Heart of Magearna, tainted by the Shadow energies. A lot of responsibility was forced upon the girl, perhaps too much, but Ulla was strong and no doubt with enough time she could accomplish her goals. And here there is nothing but time...
"Iggly!" Chimed the baby Pokemon as it bounced up and down on Ulla's bed, occasionally bouncing off of her sleeping form and back onto the bed, just being a little tyke and having fun while it tried to wake her up. That was one thing Ulla was having to get used to here, do to the lack of night here and how strange time was here it was difficult to get any type of sleeping pattern. The young girl still needed sleep though, her body required it. Sure, Succellus once explained to her that he no longer requires sleep thanks in part to how in-tuned he is with the realm but Ulla was no where near that level and thus required sleep. However because her master didn't need it he really had no accommodations for her to sleep and thus a makeshift room carved out of a giant mushroom was made for her sleeping quarters and a mattress made from Whimsicott cotton was provided. While it was certainly an incredibly comfy bed it was difficult to keep some of the more rambunctious fairies out, like the one currently bouncing on her stomach.
Looks like it was time to get up before this Igglybuff attempted to sing, the baby's song practice not the most pleasant to be audience to.

When Ulla first arrived to the Fairy Realm, she was basically lifeless as her body was fighting so much Fairy Energy within her. After sometime, her body grew up. Instead of being in a 10 year old body. She was now in about a 13 or 14 year old body. She slept in the Tree of Life along with all her Fairy Pokemon next to her. As time passed, her Fairy Energy started to leak out until she suddenly woke up. She shot up as she looked around to see where she was, but before she could. The young Fairy Child realized her Fairy Channeling swirling around her out of control. A bit in a panic, she tried to stand up but her legs gave in as she realized she looked different. She then heard her Pokemon crying out to her, she turned around and were a bit nervous by the massive influx of their master's own abilities. "Guys! Hold on I'm okay!" She said as she breathed in and tried to calm her mind as she was now controlling her channeling to not cause such a ruckus. "Hehe. I see our young guest is finally awake. And with a new look and spunk." Succellus said walking over. "Suppress your channeling. That way you won't stick out like a sore thumb. Only make it as big as a small flame." He said as Ulla focused her channeling. It started to grow small within her as much as she could. "It's kind of difficult...how long do I need to do this for?" "For the rest of your life. Soon it'll come second nature like breathing. Now that you are here young one. We have much to discuss and do. Don't we?"

Ulla was fast asleep in a bundle of Whimsicott cotton. Ever since she arrived to the Fairy Realm. Most of her time has been basically rehabilitation after waking up in an older body and having to suppress her channeling normally. Other than that, she was also in charge of purifying the Soul Heart of Magearna. Yes. It's a ton. But, nobody else could do it. And she was up for the task.
"Iggly!"
Ulla groaned as she felt the small Igglybuff bouncing on her stomach. She shot up as she started scratching her eyes. "I-I'm awake..." She said half asleep as she got out of the bundle of fluff and started doing some stretches. "Good morning little one" She said as she grabbed her bag and started fixing her hair. She ran out of her makeshift home as it looked like she was heading somewhere. After passing groups of different Fairy Pokemon, she found herself in a flower field. She walked deeper in the meadow as she stopped to look at the ground to to see a 'sleeping' Magearna. "Morning Maggy. Did you sleep well?" She said as she sat next to the robotic Pokemon. "Today is another day of training and purifying your heart. I can't wait to see you up and moving. There's going to be so many places I want to show you. And people that I know you'll get along with." She said as she picked some flowers and started to make a flower crown. "I'm not sure how long I've been here...but I miss my friends and family...I miss my brother. I also miss my adopted parents. I'm sure I scared the hell out of them. I mean. I died in front of them. Anyone would've panicked...but I can't join them yet. Not right now." She said as she finished the flower crown. She looked at the robotic pokemon's head and took off a somewhat wilted flower crown and replaced it with the one she just made.

"I see you're awake, young one." A familiar male voice called out to Ulla. Turning to face the voice she would see her teacher, the Grand Fairy Master and current Herald of Life, Succellus, approaching her through the field of flowers with a notable lack of urgency as if he was taking the time to feel each and every petal of every flower brush up against his feet. For one as old as he, living in a place that defies the normal flow of time, 'haste' was not exactly in his lexicon. "Did you rest well? Toss and turn? Nothing sore? Any dreams?" Her teacher inquired about her sleep. It was one thing Ulla would pick up quickly on, Succellus' interest in her sleep. Not because he was worried for her, not that he didn't care about her, but because it had been so long since he actually slept that he had almost forgot what it was like. His idea of sleep at this point was almost childlike, often referring to it in something similar to death, a death that you always revive from.
Once he got his answer he would give her a small smile and look down at the lifeless automaton she had set a crown of flowers on. Seeing the decoration he smile brighter and looked back to his student. "Magearna will awake too one day, I can see you will see to that. I'm sure when it does it too will be well rested." He said, implying it was just sleeping even though they both knew it was something much more grim. That was another thing she learned about her master, he didn't particularly like to focus on negative things, in fact it was almost to an insulting degree how far he would go to ignore all things negative. After all, it wasn't until the threat of the shadow plague did Succellus open the realm once more.
"Remind me, little one, what drives you? Why do you struggle so? Why not stay here in the Fairy Realm where peace and safety are in abundance? The mortal world has nothing but pain and suffering waiting for you." He asked her as he turned away to look at the horizon behind him, admiring the field of flowers. It was an inquiry he had made of her many times by now, constantly questioning her resolve or perhaps making sure her resolve was firm and never faltering.

"I slept really well. I felt like I was in a pretty deep sleep, I dreamed about...well. Easier times. When I was with my brother back in Alola. When it was just the two of us. Now...our world has expanded." She said as she looked at Magearna then back at Succellus. She stood up and brushed off any petals that got stuck onto her dress. The Fairy Child listened to her master's words of positivity. It was like Succellus was speaking to a five year old.
She walked over to her master and admired the horizon as well. Ulla listened to his question. Something that he's asked several times before. She merely smiled and held onto her staff artifact. "Yeah...my world has nothing but pain and suffering. But, there's also happiness, joy, and beautiful scenes just like this Master. And I hope to share some of that with my world with the Fairy Pokemon that leave here to be there." The little fairy said. "I know becoming the next Herald requires me to keep the balance of the Fairy Realm. And protect the Tree of Life. If I can prevent another mishap before it ever happens. Then, another...small girl, won't have to suffer the loss of their parents. Going into an eternal sleep. Never to come home again." She said as she squeezed her staff tightly. "Master...I'm ready. I'm ready to take on the weight of being Herald."

Succellus would look down at Ulla and give her a weak smile as he eyed her up and down, the man then turning away from her to look back at the horizon in silence for a few seconds longer before speaking once again. "You think so, do you? I wonder about that..." He said, again going silent for a couple of seconds before letting out a deep sigh and tapping his staff on the ground just once as he turned around to face the fairy child. "Very well young one, then it's time we test your resolve to protect this realm and the source of all life. Gather your Fairy Pokemon, especially your most faithful partner, and meet me at the Pool of Joy. This shall be your first test to prove your worthiness as the next Herald of Life." The Grand Master said as he began to walk away.
"You must inquire with the local fae for the whereabouts of the pool." He said without turning around, knowing good and well what Ulla was thinking or what she might even ask. He had never shown Ulla such a place since she has been here nor said a word of it. She knew nothing about the pool. "I'm sure you know how the fae of this realm are, any that know of something you do not shall not give it up willingly. Perhaps you might ask one of the Boss Fairies for guidance. I think I saw Boss Granbull sleeping in a nearby meadow...good luck, little one." And with that Succellus would tap his staff on the ground once more and with a stiff breeze he would blow away into a swirl of pink energy.
Guess it was time to get to work? What kind of unguided challenge was this? Her master was often cryptic but this was more than normal.
