Totoro was starting to wonder how he'd ended up in his predicament. Thinking back all he was doing was making a grocery store run and suddenly he found himself staring at a negaverse lieutenant who was well -- they had a poster for a weapon.

The super chibi couldn't say they were totally threatening but he also couldn't say he didn't want out of this situation. The problem was that he felt another energy signature nearby, another Chaos dipped aura.

This was very bad. He was looking for a route to escape to but between the two auras he wasn't sure he was going to locate a good exit.

Labradorite couldn't believe her luck, a lone little chibi had decided to wander into her patrol area and even better, he was alone. It didn't matter the little one out ranked her. That was a minor inconvenience.

There was a laugh as her lips curled, "What are we going to do now child? I've got you cornered~"

The lieutenant said in a sing song voice. She paused, feeling another aura nearby of someone that was on her side. Oh good she'd have some help if this one tried to do anything funny and get away.

"Perhaps you should've stayed home where it was safe. Children like you have no business being out here pretending to be senshi." She chided making a face, the nerve of these senshi recruiting kids to help do their dirty work. She felt bad for the kid but here they were, he was a senshi and he was fair game to steal energy from - perhaps his starseed tooo.

When she’d first felt the dual energy signatures, Ilmare had come very close to simply turning around and walking in the other direction. She’d wanted no part in someone else’s fight. Nor was she keen to run into anyone else from the Dark kingdom who might’ve seen her fighting side with the White Moon against the Hallow. Logically, there should have been no problem with her doing so. They’d all been working together to save the Earth. But she knew many of the people on her side wouldn’t see it that way.

It was better to keep to herself and avoid.

But something about this felt… wrong to her. Off. Her gut insisted that she needed to follow the auras and quickly. And as she’d slowly jogged towards it, she realized why her instincts were screaming at her. The Order aura felt exactly like Saiph’s. This was the aura of a chibi senshi. A kid…

What if it was Saiph?

That sickening thought was more than enough to convince her to hurry and get to wherever as quickly as possible. Frankly, the only upside here was the Chaotic aura was weaker than her own. She might be able to leverage that and pull rank. Maybe. But none of it would matter if she wasn’t quick enough. If it turned out that only a simple conversation was taking place, she’d feel very silly later. But on the chance that it wasn’t… She knew how some of her colleagues felt about all senshi, any senshi. No, she had to get there.

And when she did, she spared a moment to feel grateful to her gut. This was no innocent chat. This was an officer cornering a chibi. And, as the wind carried voices towards her, she felt her lips press together in anger. This was an officer threatening a child. It didn’t matter that said child was, very technically speaking, an enemy. He. Was. A. Child. Pausing only long enough to get her bearings, Ilmare raced again, this time waiting until she was close to throw herself into the Lieutenant, intent on knocking the other woman to the ground. Colleague or not, senshi or not, she would not allow a child to be hurt.

“What is wrong with you,” she hissed furiously, scrambling to put herself between officer and senshi. “We are not child murderers!”

The other energy signature was coming closer, what happened when it arrived though wasn't what Labradorite expected at all. She got body checked by her own teammate. The Lieutenant was trying to process what had just happened looking between the child and the Corrupt senshi.

"I wasn't going to murder him." She said indignantly. Eyes narrowing at the corrupt, "What do you think you're doing anyways? He's still a senshi."

She looked back at the raccoon clad chibi. "That makes them fair game for at least draining energy." As she stood up her arms crossed. The fact the corrupt senshi out ranked her, kept her from just straight up swinging.

Totoro was sweating and wishing he could get a hold of realta or someone, maybe he could hit the panic button on his phone? The second chaos aura had really gotten him squirming that was until the other body checked the lady that had him cornered and was scolding her.

Totoro was debating and then quietly he called his attack, "Dousing touch"

He decided to use the super attack since, he wasn't sure if it was actually going to land on the right target or just backfire completely on him. After he called the attack, while the Lieutenant was distracted he decided to move and kick her in the back of the leg. He really hoped the attack worked as intended.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Dousing Touch

When Sailor Totoro calls this attack he can choose two targets. This target becomes sensitive to being touched. This attack causes them to be 50% as sensitive. So if they're given a normal punch, that might would cause them to say 'ow' this would hurt 50% as much than it normally would. This attack increases the sensitivity to magic that touches the target's skin - however, it doesn't increase the damage. There's also a small chance this attack could backfire on Tortoro and not work, or hit someone other than his intended target (including teammates).

Totoro can use this attack 2 times and the effect lasts for 25 seconds.

”No,” Ilmare said, voice soft, but forbidding. “I don’t care. He’s a child and you are an absolute idiot!”

Oh, what had she gotten herself into with this? She didn’t want to fight or cause herself to stand out. But here she was anyway and there wasn’t a lot she could do except to… fudge her beliefs a little bit for the benefit of the lieutenant. Sparing a glance over her shoulder at the chibi, she offered a quick smile and mouthed the words ‘Stay behind me’. Then, she turned back to the lieutenant and arched an eyebrow.

“Have you no brain or nuance? Or do you just react? Children aren’t engrained in their ways and would be more likely to listen and let us explain. They’re statistically more likely to be sympathetic if we don’t act like monsters off the bat!”

Not that she really thought that. Saiph had been extremely leery of her in the Village. And again when they’d run into each other that night the girl’s magic had torn chunks from a tree. No, friendliness hadn’t made Saiph more open to seeing Chaos’ side. But, the argument itself was good and sounded plausible. If… when this incident made it back to the generals, she’d at least have deniability on her side. The Dark Kingdom hadn’t eradicated arguments for peaceful overtures yet.

She heard the boy whisper something and cringed on the inside. If he’d only stayed quiet, she might have been able to talk the lieutenant down fully. Instead, the idiot child, brave as he must be, had opted to use his magic and rush out to kick at her colleague.

“Goddammit, kid,” she muttered. Now she’d have to worry about defending him without seeming like she was teaming up with the chibi.

Labradorite sighed heavily at the corrupted senshi, Ilmare was annonying her, but she figured there would probably be most of the negaverse on her side. When the kid called his attack her eyes narrowed at him and then he had the audacity to kick her.

"Why you little brat!" She growled but he ran behind the corrupted senshi and she didn't feel like fighting the corrupted senshi so she crossed her arms looking at the kid debating on how to get to him at this point. Her sneer was clear. "Of course I have a brain! What's the point of trying to barter with the kid? If we wanted them to join us we could just corrupt them." She replied to Ilmare's little soapbox. "Or do you think you could get him to join willingly?"

She summoned her poster and debated before chucking it at the chibi hiding behind Ilmare.

Totoro after having kicked Labradorite scurried behind Ilmare though he was cautious about standing too close to the corrupted senshi as he looked for a way out.

They were talking about corruption and being sympathetic if they didn't act like monsters off the bat. The chibi cast a glance as both of them and when the Lieutenant threw her -- poster?? He couldn't help but giggle at the fact the weapon was so useless.

He beamed a bit when he heard Ilmare mutter, sure he was causing trouble but that other lady started it, even though both of them were drowning in icky chaos feels. He was edging away looking at the piece of paper, "I think . . . you need a better weapon lady. This one isn't going to do much damage."

He peered over towards Labradorite who he just irritated more. He actually decided maybe he should possibly follow Ilmare's lead she seemed to want to help out -- and he hoped he didn't regret it. "Yeah, she's right! She's been talking to me about joining why would you ruin that lady? Maybe I don't want to join anymore because you're mean."

He crossed his arms and looked towards Labradoritre before sticking out his tongue.

Torn between annoyance and admiration for the chibi’s courage, Ilmare offered the boy a tiny smile before turning her full attention back to the lieutenant. The way she spoke made Ilmare think that she wasn’t quite as knowledgeable about chibi senshi. This could prove to be an advantage if she played things smart…

Hearing the chibi mouthing off, she did her best to hold in a laugh and turned just enough to place a hand on his shoulder, giving it a gratefully reassuring, but also cautionary squeeze. They had to be careful now.

“You don’t know as much as you think you do,” she said calmly, mentally blessing her experiences with Saiph. “Or you wouldn’t talk so stupidly about just corrupting them. Chibi senshi, like my young friend, are incorruptible until they grow up. Hence, why they should be treated gently. There is no bartering involved, merely explaining our stance in a way they might understand.”

She didn’t like the belligerence in the officer’s stance. The wrong word or action could provoke her into an attack. Right now, the only thing keeping them safe-ish was Ilmare’s rank. And presumed expertise in chibi senshi. Remaining outwardly serene, she allowed an icy edge into her voice.

“And yes, had you not chosen to attack and torment a child, I do believe that with time, I could have convinced him of our righteousness, so that when he did grow up, he would have come to us willingly.”

She was grateful for the chibi piping up to corroborate her story. Smart and sassy. Her favorite type of kid. And, in a way, his bravery was helping her to feel braver too. Would it be so bad if the lieutenant attacked and they fought? Would it really be such a bad thing to defy the orders of the Queen in this way?

Well. Yes. Duh. But Ilmare was reasonably certain that if questioned by a General, she could spin it as she was working to increase their numbers. To be the quiet voice that coaxed and convinced the White Moon to abandon their ideology and jump ship. She knew there were knights and senshi who’d pulled similar tricks to convince officers to purify. So, she at least had plausibility on her side if things got bad. Even if it didn’t help her at this moment.

Giving the chibi’s shoulder another careful squeeze, she hoped that he would pay heed. Holding up her free hand, she silently summoned her magic and held the little liquid filled cup in her hand. A silent threat should the lieutenant move against her.

“You need to stand down and back the ******** off, Lieutenant. Before you completely undo all of my hard work.”

Then, turning her head to look down at the boy, she smiled. “Sorry about the swears, buddy. And that she wasted our meeting time being a jerk. We can talk again another time, okay? But right now, I think it’s getting pretty late. Don’t you have school in the morning?”

Take the hint, she thought at him. Take the hint and run. Ilmare didn’t trust the officer one bit. It would be better if the boy wasn’t in the line of fire.

I will fill in her magic later, but she’s not attacking with it this post.

Totoro was watching carefully as Ilmare spoke to the lieutenant that had been harassing him. When she squeezed his shoulder there was a soft nod, he was just waiting. There was a cheeky grin though when Ilmare said they were uncorruptable until they were older.

He gave a sideways glance when she summoned up her magic and told the lieutenant to stand down. There was a shrug when she apologized for the swears, "Sometimes those are warranted." He replied before looking at his phone, "Ahhh yeah, hopefully we can meet up again this weekend~!"

He said to Ilmare before nodding, he hated to leave her but she clearly was giving him an out, "Goodnight~! It'll take some convincing though now that coming over to your side is a good idea."

He might as well play it out until he left. As he walked backwards for his escape he decided to try a quite summon of his attack aimed for Labradorite. Since Ilmare had accomplished it maybe he could too?

Labradorite was looking between the two, she didn't like it. She didn't like it at all and yet, there wasn't a ton she could do but she still stood her ground her eyes narrowed at the super senshi talking to her about how children couldn't just be outright corrupted.

"And you're the expert on these children how?" She asked still keeping her eyes narrowed at the woman as she spoke. The chibi pipping up irritated her more when he indeed confirmed that supposedly Ilmare was trying to recruit him. She didn't relax but she just watched, then the senshi summoned something into her hand.

There was an irritated and indignant huff. Labradorite wasn't sure she wanted to fight someone who had magic - the kid was fine, there was only so much a kid could do. As the kid made an exit and disappeared she lashed out and aimed a punch at the building, which could've been mistaken for her lunging at Ilmare. "Fine whatever, you have your chit chats with kids."

The pain from hitting the building made her wince. "I think something stinks about this whole thing though."

Totoro's hoping that casting quite works

”Sure, this weekend will be fine. You know I’m more than happy to talk. Have a good night, buddy. Hope you ace that test you mentioned last time.”

The ease with which she was lying didn’t sit entirely right with her gut, but it was little things like this that would help her cover her a** later if need be. Keeping a close watch on the chibi until he was out of sight, and then, thankfully, out of sensing range, Ilmare sighed and arched an eyebrow at the fuming lieutenant.

“Well, I’m clearly more of an expert than you because I make myself pleasant and easy to talk to and confide in. Attacking a kid is hardly anything to brag about, but talking to them and learning little secrets? That can be useful.”

She tensed as the lieutenant swung and very nearly threw her own magic before she realized that the other woman was taking out her angst on the building. Relaxing minutely, she banished her magic before crossing her arms and adopting a not-quite-smug smile.

“Oh, I will. I wouldn’t recommend you try, though. If that boy’s smart, he’ll spread your description far and wide so other chibis won’t come near you. And you can think whatever you like, lieutenant. Doesn’t worry me a bit.”

Deciding that she’d pushed just enough, Ilmare casually headed off in a different direction to the one the boy had taken. She could only hope that the officer would take her non-chalance as proof of her story. Because, surely, someone acting so confidently wouldn’t possibly be lying through their teeth, right? That was the takeaway she hoped the lieutenant would have.

Labradorite watched as Ilmare talked to her and said she was more of an expert because she made herself available and approachable.

She continued to glare when Ilmare said she suggested Labradorite not push it because that boy probably would go tell others, but she stayed quite until the other left.

"Yeah you have a good night." She growled as the corrupt senshi walked off, "I'll keep my eye on you."

She muttered before sighing and turning to head for the nearest bar, "I need a drink."
