Exam Notes: Finn has always been a serious student, whose best subjects were Charms, Transfigurations and Music. However, it was by taking the Alchemy class that he was able to bring up the grades in the associated classes as well (particularly Potions). In his Music OWL, he was able to produce a well-written essay about Seventeenth Century Irish bards, displaying his deep knowledge of both the period and of Irish folk music in general. His interest in history in general held him in good stead on his Art and History of Magic exams. The Study of Ancient Runes course was practically a study of a language he was well familiar with, having grown up in an area where examples of runic writing could be found in many places, carved into megalithic standing stones and other similar archeological sites scattered about the Emerald Isle, and Waterford County in particular, and his grandmother taught him to read these runes when he was a small child. His grandmother is also a renowned Herbologist, and she helped him study over the summer and gain additional practical experience in handling magical plants. Finally, it should be noted, Finn has always proven to be adept at defensive magic, likely because he and Rey narrowly avoided being murdered at a very young age. As an aside, Astronomy has always interested Finn, especially since the field of Archeoastronomy has gained prominence and importance in recent decades, and so he intends to continue it through NEWTs, along with Wizard law as it pertains to his interests.
