[The Pridelands Presents: A Royal Reveal!]

User Image The past season has been very busy in the pridelands, as it is the peak of summer and the animals are all abuzz with activity. The lions themselves have welcomed new members into their pride, and litters of cubs have followed in their wake. Priderock is alive with the sound of scampering paws and games of tag, and everyone is busy with cub rearing, hunting, and patrolling of the borders.

As time passed, some of those cubs have grown into adolescents, and once again the teachers of the pride are busied with teaching their students how to be a pridelander and uphold the circle of life. Thoughts of the outlands and the trouble beyond their borders are far from most pridelanders minds, as there's much too much to do around the pride to ready for the dry season.

Amongst all that is going on, the pridelands' royal family have been busy as well! King Kubwa, a joyous and charismatic leader, has rarely been seen outside his den these past few days, which has the whole pride curious about what might be going on! Rumors have begun to circulate, with the gossip ranging from the king being sick or injured, to training prince Moyo some particularly heavy lessons, and perhaps the juiciest rumor of them all, that Queen Laini has finally given birth! The whole pride has known of her pregnancy for some time now, and many have been keeping an eye out for signs that the queen was ready to give birth.

Lady Wema, the king's only sister, has been keeping up with his royal duties the past couple of days while he has disappeared into his den with queen Laini. Though lady Wema is well loved for her soft-spoken and friendly nature, she has had her paws full while trying to coordinate the hunting parties and patrol groups, and things have not gone as smoothly as she would have liked! She's trying her best, but there's been a few mix-ups that have caused some trouble with hunting parties being sent in the wrong direction and parts of the border going unchecked at times.

Her only help has come from prince Moyo, the heir to priderock, as he's attempted to help guide his aunt in the right direction; but, as a student he can't skip out on any lessons from the pride's teachers and thus has left her on her own for hours at a time!

With the pridelands in social chaos, everyone is eagerly awaiting the return of the king and queen.

    Quote:
It's mid-morning in the pridelands, but the chaos of the day has already begun. Lady Wema has already issued orders to both the hunters and the guards earlier that morning, but it was soon discovered that she's mixed up their routes again. Not only has the better part of the day been wasted trying to correct this mistake, but the sun is rising too high in the sky for anyone to comfortably be out hunting or patrolling. With tempers flaring and the heat of the day quickly growing hotter, many are unable to hold their tongues as seek to demand an audience with the king and queen. Lady Wema has her paws full trying to keep everyone calm, but it's clear that she's fighting a losing battle. Will you join the unhappy masses, or will you attempt to help calm the situation? Or perhaps you're just here to watch everything unfold and spread some rumors of your own. Only one thing is certain, the pridelands is missing its king and queen.

User ImageDaaruk, being one of the prides teachers and an advocate of order rose earlier this morning, trying to round up his students. The chaos began with poor Wema's orders and he could offer no assistance to help her. His heart went out to her, he saw how hard she was trying but his mind too was filled with the question.. Where are their King and Queen?
Teaching combat to young lions could be tricky sometimes even on a normal day, but the mix-up with the patrols and the hunting made it a bit harder to keep them focused. As the sun grew higher and the African heat began to sear at the land, he called his lessons short for the day. He kept a careful eye tho on his students, making sure they weren't joining the unhappy demands, as they needed to be patient.
As the adults began to snip and call out for their King and Queen or at least answers, his heart sunk in his wide chest. Poor and beautiful Wema was doing her best and as tempers grew higher he stood in the shadow of the great Pride Rock, not far from where everything began to unfold, A troubled expression on his pale face.
User ImageIt wasnt long before Ikarta, one of his students of the past, came to the side of her former mentor and stood there with him, she too was troubled by all the commotion. She was concerned about how the scouting schedule was all a mess, and how the hunting parties were suffering and that it wouldn't be long before their food supplies began to show that suffrage. The pride was big and with so many mouths to feed, this was not a good thing that had started to unfold. Her sky blue eyes looked to her old mentor and searched his own amber orbs for some form of either guidance or thoughts. He looked down at her, him being a very large lion and somewhat towering over the scout. That look on her face reminded him of when she was his student and it brought a strange sense of comfort to Daaruk, and yet another powerful sense of responsibility.
He tried to keep his calm demeanor as he spoke to her, his deep voice was somewhat quiet. "It is alright Ikarta, we need to be patient. I know things are starting to look rough, but we must support Wema and try to stay calm."
Ikarta's pale blue ears folded to her head and she looked a bit more worried as she spoke, her voice was not as quiet, and yet still had a slight care in it " But there are so many mix-ups. soon the food supply is going to suffer, and the rest are right to ask where they are, whats going on. Teacher, are you sure everything will be okay if this keeps up?"
He gave her a small smile and leaned to nudge her shoulder with his wide head, his sandy colored mane folding over her shoulder blades a moment, Though she was a graduated full blown scout now, he will always see her as his determined little student. Her body shifted some with the weight of his gesture and he spoke in that familiar soothing deep tone " Yes, I am sure of it. You know you could offer your help to Wema, as one of the far traveling scouts, you could offer to pick up some patrols in between your ventures, sense you are already out there more than here."
Her eyes lit up a bit with that idea, if she was so concerned, perhaps she could do more to help. Her old mentor always knew what to say, always was wise and knew what a good course of action would be. She smiled up at him, being a sleek and smaller lioness compared to several of the others but it helped her with her fleet footed travels as a scout.
"You know that is a great idea!!! I will go now and offer to help. I mean the worst she might say is "no" right?" He nodded to her and confirmed her question "Right"
He hoped this was a good time to offer her help, but at the same time, with all of the chaos there was no time like the present. He would offer more help but teaching was his major priority. If things get worse though he would offer his help to the few guards they have to patrol.
Ikarta padded away from the huge teacher and she made her way up Pride Rock, determined to find Wema and offer her assistance. She began to recite what she would say in her head. How she would approach it and what she was going to say was important and she didn't want to stress Wema further. She will take her old mentor's advice too, and not land Wema with any questions about what was happening nor point out her concerns about the dwindling food supply.

Kiburi was in a foul mood. He was sent off for a hunt only be given the wrong route and it caused major issues. He preferred to hunt alone but he was told in no uncertain terms he must have 1 Lioness with him. No one was to be out alone; there was to much at stake. He was quite shocked to be told this and quite frankly he didn't want to deal with a female while hunting. Yes, he knows they are just as adept at hunting as males, but in his experience most females just can't shut up. The last female he was forced to hunt with almost became prey to a large group of hyenas. She was to focused on showing off she didn't see the danger until it was almost too late, since then he flat out refused to hunt with any females.

Now as he made his way back, he was even more frustrated due to the lack of prey, the heat, and the fact he was given the wrong information as an order from the acting Queen. He wanted back the Royal Pair, King Kubwa and Queen Laini. In his opinion the sister of the King was going to cause to many issues, and it will have drastic repercussions.

User Image

Muttering to herself, Kijani was extremely agitated. Each step her claws dug into the hard dirt. Trying to ease her temper was a lost cause. The King's Sister was now in charge and everything is wrong. Giving wrong orders, no one is doing the correct job, the pride is disorganized, and the true King and Queen have retreated to privacy. She understood the need for privacy as the Queen was heavily pregnant with another heir, and she must be protected at any and all costs. The fallout from this is the fact the sister of the King is now in charge and is quite frankly unfit for the job!

Her head was pounding as her thoughts kept coming. She knew the other hunters were probably just as angry and frustrated as she and her partner, Kiburi were. They spent a whole day hunting in the wrong area; no prey came across them at all. It was as if they knew the Lions/Lionesses were there. It was eerie and gave her an uneasy feeling that something was coming, something unseen.

She stopped and sniffed the air. The smell was one she didn't like at all. Turning she kept pace behind Kiburi but not to close as she can see the tension in the way he was walking. He was exuding agitation, and she was not going to be the one he took it out on. Knowing the silence was needed she felt the need to speak but was cautious. There was still some distance to go before reaching their home so in time maybe Kiburi would be more approachable.

Alexei pranced towards the gathering pride in curiousity, the male's reats flicking about curiously as he watched others father in order to discuss matters, watching some wish to complkain.

And honestly he almost expecyted to see Nikita. The other male had absolutely been in the mix-ups hunting, but his brother was also terrible at it, and Alexei worried Nikita would complain just to complain. Instead he spied his brother watching the unfolkding chaos with the grace of any small feline, tail curled about his paws as Alexei stood beside him, sighing.

"Noisy." Nikita complained. Alexeiu nodded.

"I just hope this doesn't get problematic. The lady noble is doing her best. Managing organization is so hard and I know she's doing her best." Alexei admitted. Nikitya grunted.

"Still noisy. Haven't had to... Get dirty though-- ow!" Nikita yelped as Alexei swat his brother, claws velveted to avoid harm.

"Do be sensible! The pride needs to eat you maron!" Alexei sighed. "Now behave,. Maybe we can calm others. Make it... You know... LESS noisy?" Alexei snorted, and moved, Nikitsa following sulkily.

"I guess. I guess the pride is being crabby."

User Image Estelle wasn't really sure what was going on she was worried that the king and queen were missing and the hunts were going really badly. It seemed everyone was upset not that she could blame the others since a bunch of hungry lions were not a happy group. She heard someone complaining about the noise and she couldn't really disagree. She was taking in the situation trying to figure out if there was a good way to calm things down. She looked around at the faces in the crowd trying to listen to the major complaints. She thought it odd that both the royals were missing she thought they would keep the pride more stable. She sighed out deeply as she thought about things.

User Image Koue joined the gathering, having a guess at what was going on and gave a soft sigh. Lady Wema tried her best, he was sure of it, but things now seemed to be quite the commotion. He eyed two of his students as they dashed in, laughing. "Mwanga, Chokka! Settle down and pay attention now." he gruffed, but otherwise simply shook his head.

User Image Mwanga was laughing, rearing up to pounce Chokka again before she settled down, ears back and a frown on her face. "Yess Koueeeeee." she sighed, drawing out the teachers name.

User Image Chokka simply flopped over onto her side before sticking her tongue out at her teacher and blowing him a raspberry before rolling onto her back then back up onto her paws. She shook some of the soft dirt off her vibrant green fur. "Kill joy." she said as she glanced around. "Nothing much seems to be happening right now anyway." she grumped as she swiped a paw at her friend.

The other adol laughed, batting back, sending the two into a literal paw slapping cat fight, causing Koue to let out a brief roar at the two, moving to stand between them to keep them in line. "Cubs, please."

Zuri was a born huntress. She prided herself on her attack skills and stalking abilities. She had proven to be a reliable and sufficient source of food for the pride, bringing in her fair share of kills. When the hunting parties seemed to be hurting because of poor guidance, at first she was annoyed, but then she saw an opportunity for herself to step up and help. She went to Wema to offer her assistance in leading a hunting group.

User ImageTiziri with her moon-touched pelt came from the the shade of Pride rock to see what all the commotion was, She played the part as Nanny while those with cubs were out fulfilling their duties and so her silvery blue eyes immediately were caught by the two Adolescents being rowdy. Koue's Voice brought her attention to him and even with the ruckus starting, she seemed Calm enough at a distance. His disapproval of the young ones activities made a soft smile come to her silvery muzzle, it was cute watching him in a way. She was a timid thing and not the biggest lioness either, but these lions, even the unhappy ones were all a part of her Pride, so in ways many were family to her. The cubs and the Adolescent lions seemed to be only ones she had some amount of backbone with but she was always gentle, often finding that sugar draws more flies than salt.

She moved one smaller dark paw after another as she came padding into the light, her coat sparkled in the sunlight, giving the moon drop colors more shimmer. She moved around a few lions until she came to stop closer to Koue and his group. Without words she gave that soft and hushing murr in her sleek chest to the rowdy teenagers and her silver dashed eyes had a rather serious and slightly afraid expression. The surrounding situation needed their attention as tension was thick in the air and this could only spell trouble, her legs had a faint tremble from it. Often when these two aren't in lessons and thier guardians are busy they are with her, she hopes her urgency would bring about their attention. Tiziri was so sensitive to the movement of emotions around her that she could feel this coming sense yesterday.

Her head lifted as she turned her gaze to Koue with the same worry in her expression, her scent was soft like honey milk but carried some amount of fear under the tones of cubs and the young of the pride. Tiziri was concerned and strangely knew less about the goings on in a factual way than many, spending most of her time with the prides babies. She knew Wema was doing her best but the prides agitation was growing and in ways it just made her want to hide... But hiding would not solve anything and she needed to know what was going on, plus Koue's strong presence helped her to feel more brave about everything.
All she said was his name, as if a question lay within it, soft and tenderly "Koue?"

Kicheko was a hunter - or she tried to be one, what with Wema the Woeful Wonder trying to assign her false hunting missions.
You have to wonder, She thought to herself as she gazed around her at her fellow pridemates. If this is actual incompetence, or if she's doing it on purpose. No one can be this dumb, right? She has to have the teachers helping to guide her, or... or someone! But messing up this many times consistently, there's got to be some bigger reason there! Kicheko frowned, looking over to the den that hid the queen and king, apparently.

"Maybe they're dead." She said to anyone who was within earshot. "Maybe an Outlander snuck in and murdered them, no... no because then we'd hear about it for sure." Okay, that was out. But they could still be dead, because why wouldn't at least King Kubwa have shown his face by now? "Okay, maybe it's a sickness that offed them." She struck up again. "It's a sickness and it's spread by whatever the bodies touch, so they're keeping them holed away so it doesn't spread to the rest of the pride!" Oooh that was a good one! But that meant that she probably wouldn't want to go investigate, or that anyone else she directly told her theories to wouldn't want to investigate either.

"Or...." She hummed, trying to catch another idea. "Or maybe Queen Laini has merely had her cubs and they're spending a ridiculously long time in there, because this is the first time ever that a lioness has had twenty cubs in one sitting and it's just taking her a while to recover." She shrugged her shoulders. Or she ate her cubs. Really, mothers have been known to do the strangest things.

She picked herself up and onto her paws, her brainstorm over.
"What I really don't get is if Lady Wema is doing such a bad job, why do we continue to listen to her?" She asked, wishing her brother was around to talk to. Surely he'd appear soon enough. In the meantime, she'd try to pick up on a sympathetic ear. She scanned the lions around her and saw some lions talking amongst themselves and others who sat their quietly. No one easy to talk to... how frustrating. "You'd think there would be a bigger uproar... but maybe some lions need to actually go hungry for the concern to hit. Haha, uproar, I'm hilarious." She saw a few lions approaching Wema - I shouldn't have to address her by her title if she doesn't do her job and organize a proper patrol. I'll address her properly when she stops acting like a fool. - and she looked at the Den where the Queen and King were meant to be.

Maybe I'll just go take a quick peek... to make sure they're inside and well. She thought, her curiosity growing. Since no one else seems like they can be swayed to action. She considered and began to walk, nonchalantly, in that direction. Don't mind me, She thought, masking with a air of confidence. I'm not going to snoop, I'm just going for a walk.

Kiburi was walking with a deadly precision that he was apt to do when focused and agitated. His mind was going over what had transpired today while hunting. No fault to him or his "partner" for the lack of a better word. Even he had to admit Kijani was skilled in hunting. He was more agitated about the fact they were forced to pair up and sent along the wrong route, which he knew near the beginning but thought it was due to trying to locate a new food resource. But no, it was a blatant mistake by the Queen by happenstance as he called her. He knew his anger was frightful and he needed to cool off before they reached the pridelands. No matter how hard he tried, his face twisted into a growl so much his jaw ached. His paws hit the ground with a thud, causing little shocks to travel up his legs and he ignored it. He welcomed that sting, he needed to focus on something other than his anger.

He turned slightly to check on Kijani, she was a smart one. She kept enough distance in case of an attack from outsiders or him. He tilted his head and studied her; he preferred to be alone on hunts. Being forced to have a partner was bad enough but when he was told he was being paired with a female he about lost it.

He turned his head back around and kept on walking, he did ease up the pace and tried to relax his body as his mind now was focused on Kijani. He had several problems, and he needed to figure out a way to deal with them all before they consumed him. He wanted to be alone, needed to be alone. Yet he had his duties to the pride.

First, he needed to get the answers as to why he was forcibly paired with a female, then why they were sent on the wrong route. After that he intended to find out why the King and Queen still have not been seen. Then he would deal with his "partnership" with Kijani!

A smell caught his attention, which made him almost fully relax. Their lands were within sight now, he would finally get the answers he wanted. Soon, I shall know! the thought relished in his mind.

Kijani was walking along; her eyes fixed on the Lion in front of her. Watching his movements, looking for any sign of attack she pushed onwards. Her paws were now hitting the hard packed dirt with a lot more force. The more she walked the angrier she became.

This hunt was a disaster! I am paired with a Lion who obviously hates being around others especially females, no food to be brought back and went off in the wrong direction but no fault of ours for that! her mind was going in circles so much, so it gave her a headache. She shook her head in severe agitation but kept on walking.

Lowering her head for a little bit she tried to pacify herself into calmness. Her movements became more focused, her senses pricking up. She wasn't going on alert, but she felt like she needed to be on guard. Something wasn't right but she had no idea as to what.

Looking towards the ground she noticed Kiburi turn slightly and study her for a few moments before turning back and kept walking. His pace did slow a bit, but she was smart enough to match it. She had no intention of giving this Lion any opportunity to attack for any reason. She was already in a foul mood and kicking this Lion's rear was becoming too irresistible to ignore.

Before long she caught the same smell Kiburi did and knew home was very near. She relaxed some for that meant she could separate from Kiburi soon and go her way. She did have to report in but that could be done separate from him.

User Image Wema was, for lack of a better word, overwhelmed and riddled with anxious energy. No doubt her nervousness shown through easily to anyone who laid eyes on her, but inwardly she knew all of this chaos was her fault. There was a reason her big brother was chosen for king, and not her for queen, as she simply didn't have the organizational or social skills to lead. Kubwa had told her it would only be for a day, but so far he and Laini have been gone for the better part of 4 days with no word as to why! Wema glanced away from the growing crowd of displeased lions before her and back at her brother den, and she briefly remembered what he had told her in full, 'It's very important we're not disturbed. Sister, you can do this, we won't be gone for long." But the king was wrong. She couldn't do this!

She swallowed the lump of anxiety that had formed in her throat and returned to attention to the growing crowd of unhappy and concerned pridelanders. "I-I'm so sorry-" she started to address one lion, before her focus was caught be another. "No, it wasn't my intention-" then another, "Please, just listen to-" and another, "F-Forgive me... I'm not-" until pretty soon she couldn't keep up with any one individual lion or lionesses. All the voices, the questions, the accusations melded into one and digging her claws into the dirt was the only thing keeping her from turning and running away from it all.

"Great kings above, I cannot do this!" Wema shouted in anguish and frustration, her composure finally cracked. She turned to flee, nearly bowling over Zuri and Ikarta as they approached her, but instead she simply sat down in defeat. This was, to put it plainly, too much for her to handle.

User Image Prince Moyo was in a hurry, he'd rushed away from his lessons as soon as he could, and he was now snaking his way through the crowd as quickly and quietly as possible. He'd spotted a few of his teachers and fellow students along the way, but he had no time to offer them any words of greeting or comfort. He had to get to his aunt, as it was plain to see that the morning had not gone well and she needed his help!

By the time he'd managed to get himself close enough to his aunt Wema, his eyes drifted to the den of his parents, the king and queen. What were they doing? Not even he, the prince of these lands, had been bold enough to disturb them, when they had specifically asked for privacy.

Imagine Moyo's surprise when he spied a lioness edging her way closer and closer to the king and queen's den! "Kicheko!" the adolescent hissed between his teeth as he rushed to stop her. Granted, he was much smaller than her, and his mane hadn't quite grown in yet, but the young prince certainly held an air of authority around himself as he trotted up to intercept the huntress' path towards his parent's den.

He leveled his gaze with hers, and though he adopted a non-threatening posture, he still held himself with pride. "The king and queen do not wish to be disturbed." He gave her a final look, expecting her to behave, before turning his attention back towards Wema and hopefully sorting through this giant mess. "I'll get to the bottom of this," he muttered quietly, before attempting to push his way back through the crowd to get to Wema.

Alexei's ears pricked as he looked about, his ears flicked cabout. The pride seemed just in chaos and while yes, it was stressful, it wasn't fair to be so cross! Lady Wema cxouldn't help it, this simply was a difficult position! Alexei's ears flattened iun irritation at his pridemates, eyes narrowing.

Instantly, Nikita knew that look. The pale lion pinned his ears unhappily himself.

"Brother. Brother no. You can not. Brother don't play hero." Nikita warned. Alexei, for his poart, snorted.

"It's not FAIR!" Alexei snarled. "Lady Wemu's doing her best. She's just not used to it! And she probably needs helkp and--" Alexei afforded his brother a fussy, worried growl. Nikita rolled his eyes.

"Yes, I know hunting is hard., But---"

"Use the 'She's a noble' excuse and I WILL swat." Alexei warned. Nikita groabned, as Alexei squared up, beginning to walk for Wema to see if the lady was alright. He couldn't help it - the male fussed!

The familiar landscape made him ease up a little, some of the tension was beginning to melt. He felt more comfortable with each step taken towards his home. Although he didn't like the way the acting Queen was handling things. It is possible she was in over her head, or she deliberately was messing up under the guise of not knowing what to do. If that was the case she is very shrewd and must be watched. Someone with that type of mindset is dangerous!

His paws were now hitting the ground with a soft thud instead of the hard slaps that caused jolts to go up his legs. He even noticed how the air felt different and his breathing became normal at least to him. He always felt at ease near his home.

Risking a glance behind him he noticed that Kijani still had her head down but she looked anything but defeated. She looked like she was plotting something, her eyes were lowered but he had the strange sensation that she was watching his every move. Her steps became slower, measured and she veered slightly off behind him and that made him very uncomfortable. She seemed to be stalking him in a way and that didn't sit well with him at all.

Turning back he sighed. What did he expect? He made it clear he didn't want to have a partner while hunting nor did he want a female. He got both and it really made him angry.

He saw that the others of the pride had gathered around and was all chatting amongst themselves as the acting Queen was speaking, at least that is what she appeared to be doing when sudddenly she went down. The suddenly he saw the heir prince Moyo come out of nowhere and the word "Kicheko" came out of his mouth in a shout. He turned towards whatever the prince was looking at and saw a young female attempting to sneak into the den. He took off at a dead run straight for her.

Kijani just wanted to be home, and this hunt to be over. If they pair her up again with him she will just separate from him and return home without him. She refuses to be anywhere near this pain in the rear. He had the audacity to act like she was a bug to be squashed underneath his paw, she knew she was more than capable at hunting. She provided for the pride and her family. No one has ever complained about her skills or lack of. This male just seemed to irritate her and it was driving her crazy to have to look at his rear as he walked ahead of her like he was the King. She really wanted to pounce on him and tear off his rear to teach him a lesson. Even his walk made her mad. He walked like he had a arrogance about him, quite frankly she felt bad for any female that would end up his mate. She shuddered at that thought.

So lost in thought she didn't notice when he turned to look at her but suddenly he took off running at full speed towards the crowd where the acting Queen was trying to speak. She knew something was terribly wrong when she heard the heir prince yell "Kicheko" so she to took off running at full speed.

She caught up to him easily and they both ran in and she stood in front of the acting Queen who had collapsed on the ground. Gaining her composure she bowed and then asked in a polite voice "Acting Queen Wema do you require assistance?" with that she waited an answer.

Turning her head slightly she saw Kiburi and he was giving her the most evil eye and scowl she ever seen on a male. She lowered her head and snickered ever so softly.
