The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn't the first time they've appeared in Destiny City, but no one's been able to tell where they came from or where they're going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
The plan to have Waru meet Idri for the first time would be at a place of her choosing, and she chose the park. It just so happens that fireflies were out and about this time of year, and while she didn't plan on it, it caused the park to look magical. She looked up at her boyfriend, smiling, “Idri look! Is it me or are the fireflies changing colors? Like this one looks purple…” She was tempted to touch it or at least take a picture…Maybe she could when Waru gets here?

Idri was a tiny bit nervous to meet her best friend, but he was also glad to be meeting more people in her life. Everything in their relationship felt like it had happened so fast, but he wouldn’t have it any other way, truly. Since Noa had moved in, his favorite part of every day was waking up with her in his arms. Her voice brought him back to the present, where the fireflies had just begun to light up.
“Are they?” he asked curiously, taking a closer look at the flying bugs. Sure enough, one lit up blue right in front of him. “I’ve never seen fireflies do that before.” Something was weird about them, though. Other than their color-changing butts.

The million times Waru had seen fireflies before, and never would he tire of them. Especially not the way they seemed to show up only in DC, all the places he’d been where the little critters existed? And never had he seen them like this! All manner of hue — all strange — nigh ********’ magical in a thousand different ways.
It made for a hell of a nice ambiance to meet Noa’s beau for the first time. Open landscape, things to talk about. Time to kill. An easy out if anyone needed it, but as he parked, and then made his way out towards the field, he doubted that. He knew Noa had good taste—
Had liked him once, had chosen a life of stability and solace as they’d moved on and apart to bigger, better things amicably and all their own.
It helped more that she was easy to spot— standing next to…
“Knew she liked tall hunks of chocolate…her kids gonna be huge…” Waru snorted quietly to himself before waving as he approached the pair, grin on his face, gently illuminated by the continued buzz of soft lighting swarms.
“Hey, Noa!”

“Right? I wish I had a jar. We could take one home and show Ains.” Hopefully Alexis wouldn't try to eat one but then again he was an alien, not an actual mammal. With her curiosity getting the best of her, Noa reached out with a finger, about to touch one that flew right in front of her face when she heard a familiar voice. “WARU!” Her smile turned bright as she turned to face her best friend, grabbing Idri’s hand and dragging him along with her as she waddled towards him. Once they were close enough, she instantly enveloped him in a tight hug [well, as tight as she could given the giant belly she had now]. “How are you? How are the husbands? Did you start an OnlyFans yet?”
Her hands were on her hips while she spoke, head tilted to the side for a moment before she looked up, green meeting orange. “Waru, this is Idirian~” She reached up to poke the giant man under his chin [she had to get on her tippy toes but what else was new?], “Idri, this is Waru, one of my best friends. Also godfather to Haji~” She gave him a cheeky grin, practically buzzing with excitement and happiness. FINALLY! After so much time, Idri would meet one of her two precious best friends. Bets was next of course…Whenever she wasn't so busy.

Idri chuckled a little. Ainsley would enjoy the little critters, but something told him they shouldn’t try to capture the colorful ones. When Noa reached out to touch one, he reached up to stop her when she was distracted by the arrival of her best friend. And then he was being dragged along by his five foot something girlfriend to where Waru was until she let go to hug him. Idri smiled softly, happy to see her happy and peppering him with questions.
Finally she paused long enough to introduce them, poking his chin while on her tip toes. Poor short thing, he thought to himself. Not that he was complaining. He loved her just the way she was. “It’s nice to finally put a face to the name,” he said and held out a hand for Waru to shake. It was definitely more than time to meet the godfather of his son. Haji’s godmother would be next, but Noa had said Bets was busy right now.

”Heya, beautiful!” All ‘********’ coo’ in tone as he wrapped her into a side-hug, careful of the precious onboard cargo that looked even bigger since he’d seen her last! Had it only been a few months? And she was already how far along – and how much further to go – and – ohgod, how were the husbands? He could really only speak for Ren who he’d seen most recently, swallowed his frown over all the ways Eion was still in hospice or missing. But he wouldn’t let that particular stone in his shoe ruin his good time, not tonight! “Ren’s wonderful as always – Ei’s laid up for a bit – OH! I actually got my friend Jayce into it, if you can believe that? He’s uh…he’s really hot, actually. S’kinda insane how quick he was t’make a business of it! I’m still working through the technical difficulties, but yannnoooo..” He shrugged in a very ‘win-some-lose-some’ way, smiled like he was trying. Because he was, he promised he was and–
‘I’m surviving—’ Was the best way he could think of it as he finally, after what felt like an age, locked eyes with the mysterious Idri!
“Ooh, same!” Happily taking Idri’s hand in turn, sizing the guy briefly, with an oh-so-pleased grin. The mysterious man he’d heard so much about? Finally, he got to see in the flesh! “Knew it had t’be someone special t’have snagged her like this, baby n’all. The way she talked you up – and lookit’chu? Y’definitely live up to all her hype.”
He wouldn’t say it outloud, not as he had to look up at the guy, but in his head he was preening over how Noa clearly had a type! A good one~
