Personal Raincloud (11) : It’s a beautiful, sunny day in Destiny City–for everyone but you. There’s not a cloud in the sky–except for yours. No matter where you go, a dark cloud seems to hover, casting shadows wherever you go. It’s been raining since you woke up today, and it’s like bad luck and bad weather just follows you. It’s a constant downpour, always exactly where you are. The raincloud is usually big enough to easily cover a full building, so if you stick around for too long, your misfortune will turn into someone else’s too. The raincloud might follow you for a few hours or for the whole day before slowly fading; there’s no escaping it, or the strange, sombre mood that seems to follow you.

Sade had been hoping to host a rave during star fest. She'd rented out one of the smaller parks amphitheaters and planned on having the show that night everything was going great expect - there was a rain cloud no matter when or where she went.

She needed to set up and do a sound check but the venue was all open air. She'd had her electrical guy set everything else up. The lights were ready, the props of giant looking star candy pieces, there were lights all around, fog machines.

The whole thing was going to be great. Until this rain cloud. Sade huffed as she got to the venue she was drowned and it seemed like there was no end to this rain. Luckily none of the equipment was powered up. The guys all stopped what they were doing and looked at her. It hadn't been raining until she showed up.

Sade was visibly upset as she looked up at the rain cloud. It was just large enough to keep the party from happening. She totally couldn't do the sound check and everything was ruined!!

"UGHHH I hate my life." She said pulling her fingers down her face as the guys came over to check on her.

"So... it just started raining. Like everything's good to go except the sound check... but I don't know how to fix it so we can do it with the rain." Her lead sound check guy said looking up at the cloud.

There was a pause as he pondered, "Has that thing been following you? I've heard of a few unlucky people having the same issue."

Sade looked defeated when the sound guy said he'd heard about other people with the same issue. "Yeah."

She crossed her arms and looked up at the cloud. "I guess we plan to do this without a sound check? I really hope this goes away before the show tonight." She was trying to figure out what to do if the cloud didn't go away they'd need someone to fill in that didn't have a cloud over their head she guessed.

"Ugh why does it have to be today!?"

The second sound guy looked around, "Hey -- uh ... Sade can you ... like move away from the set? It's kind of hard to work with the rain. It's going to cause us to flood or one of us to get shocked."

The woman gave a pout as she sighed, "Fine, I'll move. I guess we need a back up in case this doesn't go away."

She was thinking who else she knew who could DJ and fill in for the night if the worse case happened and the storm didn't go away. She moved far enough away she could still see the stage but the rain was no longer interfering with the sound guys.

There was an idea and she grabbed her phone from her jacket pocket. She'd at least thought to bring a rain coat though it didn't help the feeling of being soaked to the bone. "Hey, I got a favor to ask of you."

She said waiting for the person on the other end to answer, "There's a chance I can't host the rave tonight that I wanted. . . . Huh, oh it's a long story. Look, I need you to come be back up in case I can't perform."

There was a pause as she waited for an answer, "Yeah, yeah you can have my cut." There was a grimace. It wasn't like the door fee was going to be much but it was enough to cover the night and now she wasn't going to get paid. At least she could cover the cost of the rental fees though.

"Ugh this is such an inconvenience." She looked at the rain cloud as it continued to rain, and noticed that the water was starting to go towards the amphitheater. There was a heavy sigh as she moved on. She couldn't do anything but wait out the storm and it wasn't good to do it here. She didn't want to flood the venue. The problem was -- she didn't know where she could hide out until the rain stopped. Maybe the lake? At least it'd catch the water. Sade nodded and headed to sit by the lake opposing the amphitheater so hopefully she could wait out the storm and hope she could perform tonight. If she couldn't -- well that just sucked and she'd have to figure out a new plan.

Maybe next time it'd work out better?

Sade spent the rest of the night waiting out the cloud, which didn't stop pouring until after the rave ended. However, she gave up waiting at the lake and headed home, just letting the cloud follow her as she sauntered through the town back to her apartment.

She couldn't express how disappointed she was that this decided to ruin her whole day. Normally she enjoyed rainy days but not when they were just over her head.

She was reading texts from her sound guys about how well everything went and that the fill in DJ was awesome. They appreciated her making sure the show could go on.

Sade sighed heavily as she sat on her couch reading the texts and messaged her manager to make sure they had the amount to cover the venue rental and that the fill in DJ was getting paid.

From there she was just stuck watching television and hoping she could maybe get another gig together soon. She was looking at her calendar thinking about what was next that she could throw together a party for.

"Maybe I could run and event on the first day of fall?" She tapped a pen to her lips as she looked thinking about what was needed and how she could work the angle. There were some privately scheduled events and a few local bands that had asked for her to be an opening act but it wasn't anything major. She also had a couple of small school gigs. Which was fine after all what was DJing for a middle school dance?

Yeah she nodded, first day of fall sounded like it might be a good time. She messaged her manager and then decided to retire for the night. She was exhausted after trying to dodge the rain cloud all day and night.

After she grabbed a warm bath and got herself a coke and pop corn she crashed on her bed to watch a movie until she fell asleep. She looked at her catalog and decided to watch the Pagemaster that would make her feel better.
