It's a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It's a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it's been in the news for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they've spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It's hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Or it's just a hoax to get people out to the Reservoir! But…Sometimes, people feel like something is grabbing their ankle, even if they are just wading in the shallow end. In the deeper parts of the water, it gets a little more intense: something has been said to grab onto ankles and pull. People have been warned about dangerous pranks, but so far no one has been caught. In the shallow end, anyone unfortunate enough to be targeted may feel themselves being knocked off their feet and tugged into the water; anyone in deep water may feel a firm grip on their ankle, tugging them lower and lower. Somehow, anyone it targets is freed--either by wriggling and fighting, or because someone intervenes and pulls the would-be victim up. No one has drowned in the lake. Yet. It's impossible to see who, or what, is doing this, but it usually gives up after one failed attempt. Usually. While you may find yourself harassed by the supposed cryptid, or see something visibly odd in the distance, you cannot take any pictures of the creature. Who knows if you're even being attacked by the cryptid–or just another youma? Pippa had heard the rumors, especially when she was sitting down in the common areas in the music department at DCU, playing guitar. Some sort of Loch Ness monster thing was in the city. At first, she was confused how something could get from all the way over there to all the way over here, but then again, she'd seen all sorts of weird magical stuff, so maybe that's how. Getting to check things out wasn't as easy, though. The reservoir was pretty far from where she and her brother lived, so it meant a lot of walking. The whole time she wandered, ideas of what the thing might be floated on her mind. Imagination running wild, she found herself excited to see whatever creature this was. Maybe it was just one of those aliens like Tianyi and she could ask it about their planet? With her lantern hanging and the stiff and way too proper outfit that Saturn had given her, she finally made it to the sands and stood looking at the dark water. With a puff of her cheeks, she pouted that it looked boring. There were little blips of feeling nearby, none of them nasty like that wanker she'd tackled before though. "HelloOOOOooo innit time to show nessie?" Calling out towards the still water, she squinted and tried looking for something or some sort of motion.

Back at the reservoir once more, Sailor Tempesti had come to believe that the cryptid or whoever else was in the water had lost whatever interest it might have had in her before. Even if it hadn’t, she had her needs just as it presumably had its own, and if it didn’t interfere with her swimming, she wouldn’t interfere with…whatever business a cryptid might have in an artificially constructed body of water. The sensation of an allied energy signature caught her attention drawing her to the edge of the water to seek its source. After a few moments of scanning the beach she spotted a knight bearing the symbol of Saturn on her uniform. Of course, if she’d failed to see the other young woman she’d have heard her moments later, calling the cryptid to see if it answered, she wondered if it would. Bare feet sinking into the sand, she gave the knight a wave as she walked over. “Trying to make friends?” A slight smile crossed her face as she spoke. The wisp that bobbed around her face definitely seemed keen on the idea.

At first, nothing looked to have changed, so after shaking off her shoes and rolling her pants up, Chillingham dared venture a bit closer. Keeping her lantern on hand to both help with seeing if there was anything beneath the dark surface of the water, and so she would have something to defend herself with if anything decided to take a bite of her. Hearing a voice, she found herself jumping out of her skin in surprise. "Oi!" Spinning slightly in place, she looked back to see a senshi that she was sure she'd seen before, maybe. Or at least almost sure, something was different, but there had been a lot of people when she'd been trying to help fight the weird robot things, something she very much had not told her brother about because he wouldn't have let her back out at night after all that. "Well if the bloke made 'is way all the way over from Loch Ness, I thought I might try and see what he was doing." Or if it was one of those youma things, then it was her job to use her super cool lantern and send it away before it decided to hurt someone who couldn't fight back.

She was aware that the knight’s lantern was a weapon, but that didn’t stop her from finding the form it took adorable. It was impossible to know if the knight would find the sentiment amusing or offensive, so she stifled the urge to comment. Grimacing slightly at the realization that she’d startled her new acquaintance, she hastily apologized. “Sorry about that! How’s your night going?” Hopefully it was uneventful. Nessie would be a fun addition to Destiny City’s already colorful population, though Tempesti remained skeptical of the creature’s existence given the failure of every team of monster seekers to find her. It. She wasn’t sure when she started thinking of the Loch Ness Monster as a girl, but the notion had apparently implanted itself in her head at some point. Squinting at the water, she wasn’t certain whether or not she saw anything out of the ordinary.

Nodding at the apology, Chillingham smiled. "Aside from them being a no-show, it's been rather nice." The weather was still something to get used to compared to back home, but it could be exponentially worse. Though the worst came from her outfit more than anything else, it was so stiff and proper that she always felt like she needed to shed layers to move around how she wanted to. With her back turned to the water and the conversation being her focus, Chillingham hadn't noticed the ripples in the water that were moving closer to where she stood in it. It was hard enough to tell even if she wasn't distracted but she kept going on with her conversation with this senshi. "I feel like we've seen each other before. Innit from the robot planet? With asm... Asmodeus?" Stumbling with the name as she tried to remember, there had been a lot of new names and faces she had met from that time that she was still trying to sort between meeting new people and making new friends, both magical and mundane.

Tempesti turned her attention back to the knight, now that she was closer she recognized her. She’d definitely been on Asmodeus the day they’d fought their way to the Eternal Engine. “Yes, I remember seeing you there. That place was…fascinating.” Seeing Asmodeus revive her planet’s power confirmed what she’d already begun to suspect: that tending to one’s homeworld could help it heal. Spurred her on more than a little in her own efforts. She might not be able to match something that could power a whole planet, but from what she’d seen she could help it in her own small ways. “I’m glad those constructs didn’t leave you any worse for wear. It’s nice to see you again.”

Fascinating sounded like the way her brother might describe it, but it still felt good enough for her. It really had been magical in a steampunk sort of way, and she wished she could have seen more of it without the big one deciding to cause a scene. "Yeah I was pretty chuffed about how it all went, didn't have to try and come up with an excuse for my brother about anything too serio-" cut of mid sentence, something wrapped around her ankle and yanked her from the edge of the water and into it. From her experience getting thrown into the lake unexpectedly back during holiday, she hadn't inhaled water in surprise but she was bothered by the fact she didn't have her lantern in hand to try and get the thing off her with force.

A sharp alarm pierced the senshi’s chest as the younger woman’s legs flew out from under her. Without thinking she snatched up the dropped lantern and sprinted toward the water, bare feet sinking into the wet sand as she ran. The cryptid or whatever it was in the water didn’t feel like a youma, but it was unfriendly all the same. Or too friendly and unaware of how to safely play with humans, she really couldn’t be certain how something like that thought. In either case, Chillingham was in danger. Holding out the knight’s weapon, she hoped its rightful wielder would be able to reach it. Just in case, however, “Harrowing Storm!”. She couldn’t see her target but she hoped fervently that her ability would be enough to loosen its grip.

It hadn't pulled her far, at least not far enough that once that senshi was close enough, she flailed and reached for her lantern like a monster coming out of the black lagoon. "Cripes!" Kicking with one foot as their magic did something to help, she stomped as best she could while holding to her weapon to keep from getting pulled back into the water. The thing was gross, making her have half a mind never to try going out for sushi or anything like that in the city. But more than that, this was not in fact the Nessie she knew so she felt valid in her attempts to kick the thing until her other boot came off and she climbed her way up. "Runrunrunrun!" Pulling the other along as she stumbled with one heeled shoe and half waterlogged. She wanted to be well out of the reach of that thing if she could manage.

Tempesti offered no resistance as the knight pulled her along, relieved that the other young woman had slipped the thing’s grip without too much difficulty. Luckily whatever was in the reservoir didn’t seem terribly persistent, they might have had more trouble if it was hungry. Though, really it might well be a territorial herbivore offended that they were disturbing its salad. As they made their way safely onto the squeaky sand lining the reservoir, the senshi turned toward her companion. “Are you alright?” She didn’t see any blood and the knight didn’t seem to have any difficulty running, but she was well aware of the numbing effects of adrenaline and her worried eyes scanned for any sign of injury. Sara Draconia I think we can wrap in the next post or two?
