Staurolite blinked into the distance, at the Negaverse aura that seemed to be coming from that general direction. All his years in the service and he still wasn't the greatest when it came to auras, but he could tell the difference between Chaos and Order. It was tempting to teleport over to them, but the Captain opted instead to walk. Or…jog. It was faster, and saved on his energy.

"Yo," he greeted when he spotted them, a bright-haired lieutenant he'd never seen before. That was nothing new–it wasn't like he kept up with the recruits or anything like that. So he put on a friendly enough smile and, when he was within reach, extended a hand.

"Captain Staurolite. You are?"

Carmeltazite had plonked herself down on a handy newspaper dispenser, in lieu of a bench, and settled in with the intent to practice summoning Bonk Daddy from her little pocket of subspace. Really, the more she practiced, the easier it was to do. Just like most things. Of course, she wasn’t entirely sure about some of those things or how proficient she might be. Like drawing energy or stealing a starseed.

God, even the thinking the words made her giggle a little uncontrollably. It was all just so very anime even down to the whole half youma officers (which she hadn’t yet met and was quite put out about) and the stories she’d already heard about actual aliens that looked alien. Which she also had not yet encountered and felt even more put out by. What was the dam point of being granted a sort of magical furby and fancy, sparkly uniform if none of the people she’d been promised to exist were around for her to seduce? It was all very unfair.

She’d been startled from her thoughts by a friendly enough sounding ‘Yo’ and had turned, half hopeful that she might finally meet a monster and/or alien that she could… befriend. Instead, it was just another boring human. Not bothering to hide the disappointment in her eyes, Carmeltazite waved before taking the proffered hand and shaking.

“Hi! I’m Carmeltazite. You’re pretty snazzy looking for just a guy. Don’t suppose it’s all a fancy disguise and you’re actually a monster under there?”

Look, a girl could dream.

That was new.

Staurolite chuckled as he shook his head. "Sorry to disappoint," he replied, soon pinching and pulling at his cheeks as a playful display of him just being a regular guy. "Guessing you're wanting to run into the more…unique…folks in the city?"

And by that of course he meant half-youma, youma, and Vanguard. Maybe to some extent, the Mauvians as well.

"They tell you about the talking cats, too?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 03, 2025 4:24 pm

“Oh please,” she sighed. “Everyone and their mother writes fics about talking, sentient animals. Catgirls and boys are passé, my dude.”

Still, she was highly amused by the Captain’s face-tugging antics and chuckled in appreciation. About time she met someone who wasn’t a boring, stick in the mud. Hopping off of her perch, Carmeltazite moved closer, taking in the Captain’s uniform and aesthetic. As she circled, she reached out to finger a bit of his uniform. Much like her own, his felt like good quality fabric, though nothing in the realm of luxury. Maybe you got access to the fancier stuff later?

“Love the fit, very utilitarian,” she said before taking a step back and bouncing the furby in her hand gently. “So, what’s your deal? And yes, I want to see some of the beings I’ve been promised. What good is this magic bullshit if the monsters all stay hidden?”

His brows went up as he considered her words about talking, sentient animals, and eventually nodded in concession. He'd never made the comparison between comics and reality before, but now that someone had shown him the proverbial light, he had a feeling he was going to start doing that moving forward. Whether that was a good or bad thing, he wasn't sure, but he had a feeling it was going to be fun.

"Thanks?" he said, glancing down at his uniform. He'd never given it too much thought, if he were being honest. As long as he wasn't going on in tattered clothes, he was happy with whatever was provided for him while he was on this job.

"I never really thought about our uniforms before, but I think you look neat, too. More, uh, colorful than most agents." He nodded toward the little toy in her hand. "I've never been a huge fan of furbies, though. I'm curious to see what it'll change into when you rank up."

He brandished his crossbow. "Mine started out as a slingshot, and now I've got this." At her question, though, he shrugged lightly. "As for my deal…I mean, it's nothing special. Meet my energy quota, mess with any Order people I run into. Sometimes I'll wander into the Rift? Which, if you're wanting to see monsters, is where I'd start. I'll go with you, if you want. Better to have company if you've never been, before."

“How can you not love Furbies,” Carlmeltazite demanded, smiling. Clearly she wasn’t that fussed that someone might not enjoy demon possessed chunks of plastic the way she did. “C’mon, let Bonk Daddy into your heart.”

She began bouncing the thing in her hands again, listening intently as Staurolite spoke. Okay, most of his routine made sense but… “Why mess with ‘em? And by mess I’m assuming you mean shenanigans and ********. I mean, if ******** is what gets your motor runnin’, I ain’t gonna kinkshame, but if not, what’s the point?”

Carmel knew, mostly, her limits. She was little and scrappy, which was great! But why would she ever want to go out and purposely antagonize someone who, in theory, could magically introduce her face to the pavement? That sort of thing might be fun in a more controlled setting, yeah, but she preferred her playtime to come with safewords. Besides, she had far more important things to think about. Like this Rift place. Bonk Daddy slowly came to rest in her open palm as Carmeltazite tilted her head to the side, considering the Captain’s offer.

“Sounds fab and I’ll take you up on that at some point. But why would I need company to go visit some monsters…?” Her voice drifted off as she thought very hard for a moment and came to a conclusion. Making a face, the lieutenant shook her head before bouncing her furby back into subspace. “Okay, umm. You do realize that I’m looking for sentient monsters, yeah? Don’t get me wrong, I have room in my heart for all sorts, but I prefer getting to know the ones who can actually consent if I wanna hug ‘em.”

Hug, smooch, bang, some delightful combo of all three… Point was, Carmeltazite knew she was a deviant. But she wasn’t that brand of pervert. Still, seeing some actual monsters in the wild would be fun and give her ideas for her fics.

“Any rules about bringing cameras or notepads into the Rift? Has anyone actually gone full Steve Irwin down there? Like, would I be able to see baby monsters?”

Even if the Rift didn’t have exactly what she was looking for, there was no reason why she couldn’t find other ways to enjoy herself.

"You even named it?" he laughed, clearly amused but not in a way that he was laughing at her. It was just new, and in a way reminded him of his sister and her plethora of plushies and other such things in her room back at the family house.

"Just to break up the routine, I guess?" the Captain replied with a little shrug, once his amusement had died down. He still kept his eyes on Bonk Daddy as she bounced him in her palm. "And it's good to have some things to report back, like names and what sorts of powers they have, threat level, and anything else you think might be worth reporting."

Staurolite shifted his attention back to Carmeltazite when she stopped bouncing Bonk Daddy, His smile turned again to one of amusement as she sorted through her thoughts on what could possibly be found in the Rift, and her level of interest seemed to shift until it settled on potentially wanting to go.

"Not sure about the Steve Irwin thing, but I know at least one that's there regularly. There are more, of course, you'll have to ask around to find out who. That's General Chalcanthite. I think he's studying something down there, not sure what though. As for the sentient youma, I don't know if they live in the Rift or somewhere in the Castle, but I personally know two."

“Hey, naming weapons is a time-honored tradition. Don’t knock it just because the weapon itself is unconventional,” she retorted, tossing her head slightly to get her hair out of her eyes. Choosing, for now, to let his reasons for ******** slide by without comment, Carmeltazite thought that she really had no room to judge. If courting a broken face was his kink, she’d wish him well. Though to her mind, it seemed like there were easier ways of getting the same information.

She did make note of the name provided, though. If she wanted to get to know more about the Rift’s youma and monsters in general, it was always best to have an expert on call. And if there were places to report on Order types, then surely there would be similar resources for all things monster-y as well? She’d have to look into that.
“Well, Cap’n, you’ve given me a lot to think about,” she said. “Not a lot that I can use for fics, but eh. We’ll workshop it. So Chalcanthite is my resource for monsters. Any other recs for learning me some s**t? Like experts on the senshi and such? Or anyone who knows a lot about aliens? Aliens are a little outside of my normal wheelhouse. I’m assuming these ones don’t go for probing though? Is that a safe bet?”

She wanted to ask more, but thought that maybe asking for Staurolite’s opinion on aliens creating hybrids with people might be a step too far. Or maybe he’d just laugh. He seemed fairly amused by her and that was never a bad thing.

"A lot of it, at least in my experience, is a pretty hands on sort of experience," Staurolite replied with a shrug. "Work on making your energy quota, meet who you meet while you do that, get information however you can from whoever you meet. I had a slingshot starting out, and I took all this kinda lightly and got a taste for pissing them off." Clearly he wasn't at all bothered by this, or if he was he kept it hidden behind his ever-amused little smile.

"Unfortunately I haven't kept track of who's got an in with the aliens," he went on, eyes up as his expression turned thoughtful. Besides the whole snake fiasco, he'd never encountered them before so he really didn't have much to say. "I can ask around, though, if you want. Honestly, I feel like they're more interested in Earth, not so much humans, so. I think we're safe from the probing."

Aha! Carmeltazite hid her grin as best she could once Staurolite admitted to developing a taste for pissing people off. Fetish detected! Though she was beginning to lose some of her hope that she’d managed to run into the one fun officer in this outfit. His repeated insistence on make quota, get intel sounded far too much like being an obedient little drone and ugh. Barf.

Still, he was technically her superior and she’d been in long enough to know that the Negaverse was verrrrrry insistent on military order and discipline. And as she was super-duper sure that punishments for insubordination did not include being tossed to the monsters for sexy fun and frolic, she managed to, somehow, wisely hold her tongue.

But, no matter how good she tried to be, she couldn’t keep the sadly disgusted, little utterance of, “Pity.” purely internal upon learning that the aliens were not there to probe. Oh well, might as well at least be polite about things.

“Nah, no need, but I ‘ppreciate the offer. I’m supposed to meet who I meet and learn s**t, right? Feels like cheating if you do it for me.”

Given her reaction to all that he was saying, he was starting to wonder if she was looking for different answers from him. He was, though slow and steady with his progress with the Negaverse, a good little soldier, so he wasn't going to go and change his answers now just to get a more favorable response from her.

He reached over and gave her a pat on the shoulder, though, and offered a slightly apologetic smile.

"That's the spirit," he said with a little nod. "And I'm here to help if I can, so don't hesitate to reach out."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 03, 2025 4:28 pm

Nodding, Carmeltazite kept her disappointed screech purely on the inside. So much for the fun officer. Still, useful-ish advice was to her benefit, so she couldn’t be too upset. Ha Ha, who was she kidding. She was going to sulk over this for days. Daaaaayyyyys!

Still, she managed to smile, just a little, as she took Bonk Daddy out of subspace. At least she knew how to keep herself entertained.

“Well, like I said, I ‘ppreciate that a lot! And I won’t. Hesitate, I mean. My ego’s not that badly in need of puffing, after all.”

Resuming her game of bouncing the furby in the air, Carmeltazite crinkled her nose in a better smile and turned to head off. She still had time to work on some fics and she could always see what this database thing was all about.
