The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn't be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it's incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it's just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there's something undeniably magical about it.

Despite the fights they’d had about it, Marni had finally relented and stopped arguing about Jadyn getting a new bike. And for his first long (ish) trip, he took a ride down to an empty field on the night of the meteor shower. Something about it tickled at his memory, but he shook it off. Tonight was not about old memories, it was about taking a night to relax and re-center himself. Maybe take some time to reflect on the last few months. Once he got to the field, he rode down to a little hill and parked his bike at the top of it before laying in the cool grass and making himself comfortable.

He had recently leveled up as a senshi, his uniform changing and gaining a supercharged version of his original attack. He even felt stronger, though that might be the effects of working out both with and without Dmitry and Damien. He grinned when he thought about his newest friends, pleased with what they had shown him so far and excited to learn what else they could teach him. It had been a while since he had friends he could hang out with, and even though so far they only hung out at the gym, Jadyn wondered if the brothers would want to hang out elsewhere. Do they like video games? They both had kids, though. Maybe they could organize a day trip to the Reservoir with the kids and Jadyn could tag along. Definitely something to ask about next time he saw them.

He didn't believe in the rumors that some kind of creature lurked in the lake, no matter what kind of stories people came up with about being pulled under. It was probably just something to scare the kids, and it was just their parents tugging them under as a joke. He smiled, though it was a little sad, remembering when his dad did the same thing to him and Marni when they were younger.

Of course, he and Marni had always had to be careful in the sun so Mom usually called them back to the beach every thirty minutes or so for a break and more sun screen. The memories he had of his parents were precious, and he hoped like hell he hadn't lost any of them after his accident.

As he breathed the night air in deeply, the first meteor lit up the sky. He knew, scientifically, what meteors were, but he remembered his mom telling him they were wishes that other people made on shooting stars coming true. He grinned at that, and the kid in him wondered whose wishes were being granted tonight.

Most of the meteors were white, or yellow, but he thought he got a glimpse of a blue or purple in one. Like there were mini rainbows streaking behind the space dust. It was beautiful, and he almost regretted not bringing his camera but he had wanted space from everything. Besides, there was something about this shower that just felt...fantastical. Magical. It was something that wouldn't quite translate into photographs. So he relaxed every muscle in his body and watched the magic wishes as they cut across the starry sky.
