The Usher Family

The Usher magical family is a rather new family, started by a Muggle-born wizard by the name of Edgar Usher (1995-2052) when he married his childhood Muggle sweetheart, Emily Usher (1995-2052). Known for their bad luck in magic, but good luck in business, Edgar Usher would found the music label, Siren's Songs, in honor of his wife's incredible voice. However, his son, Edward Usher (2015-Present), would sell the record label to his estranged baby-mama, mother of twins, Eve and East (2054-Present), instead opening a dance hall in Hogsmead for students and teachers alike. A loving father who is too devoted to his kids. His eyes get misty any time his kids do something adorable or remotely cute. His eyes light up when someone brings him a gift, and he will melt for homemade baked goods.
A compulsive gambler. His eyes light up at the mention of a bet. He will raise the stakes just because he can. His hands shake in excitement when the pot starts to get high, and he knows he might just lose it all.
He is only calculated and shrewd when it comes to business. When it comes to finding new suppliers for drinks or deciding the menu for a special event, he knows a deal/talent when he sees it. While he is willing to pay for it, he isn't willing to be taken advantage of.
Resilent. In business and in life, he has learned that most people will underestimate him and try to bring him down when he proves them wrong. It has come with a rebound that allows him to move on quickly.
My background story is.
He was born to a Muggleborn wizard and a Muggle mom. It was great watching the amount that his parents didn't let the magic run their lives. They loved each other so much that even when his mom started to lose her memory, his father was there by her side. Fresh flowers were always on the table, and the smell of his mom's cooking was in the air. The love they had was truly beautiful to watch and grow up with.
So, when he got accepted to Salem Institute, that is exactly what he thought would happen to him. He tried to find a lasting love, but what he really fell in love with was the thrill of a fresh relationship. Within a few months, he got bored and wanted to start the next chase. This happened throughout his entire school career.
He never tried truly hard in school, knowing he was the sole heir to his parents' music label, another sign of love between his parents. He was going to take it over, and life was going to be easy, so he didn't really stress much. That was until one of his many flings ended up pregnant.
The twins were his wake-up call. Their mom signed a contract to leave them alone in exchange for his father's record label. That was the best thing he had ever done in business. Eve and East have been his world since the first time he heard them cry. The happiness he chased was found when he heard their laughs. It was beautiful, and now he runs the studio in the hope that he can fulfill their dreams, just as they have fulfilled his.
I enjoy
-Watching my kids thrive in their lives and pursue their dreams.
-Listening to people's problems (never take the advice, though. It's probably bad)
-Dancing (is awful and has no rhythm)
-Gardening (almost all of it is just beautiful flowers in planter beds out front of the store)

-Resilience. I bounce back from hurt feelings and harsh words with laughter.
-I always remember the drink someone ordered the last time they were at the bar.
My flaws are
-I try to keep on a brave, happy face for my kids, but it's exhausting keeping it up. There are times when I feel like I might explode from the pressure and sadness, and it is hard for me to get out of bed.
-My children are better cooks than I am, and they are ten. We would be living on takeout, nuggies, and ramen if I were in charge of meals.

I'm 10 years old, and five minutes older than my sister, Evelyn.
My birthday is May 4, 2054
My life goal is to play Beater on the Appleby Arrows.
My blood status is Pure-blood
The school I will be going to is Hogwarts.
The house I'm in is I'm not sure, but I want to be in the same house as my sister so we can both be beaters on the Quidditch team!
I'm interested in anyone breathing, consenting, and age -appropriate.

People can describe me as
Kind. Will always lend a helping hand to those in need. Is the first to share toys, snacks, or even just be a hand to hold. Apologetic. Very sweet and always asking for permission to do things, and is the responsible twin. While he is more reserved than his sister, he does stick up for others in the face of injustice.
My background story is. East was raised to be the best big brother to Evelyn that he could be. His mother raised him to be the ultimate man, when really it was his sister who liked to wrestle and get rough. He was grateful when his father took custody of them, even though he never fully understood what his mother gained and the House Usher lost, he was still grateful to be in a home where crying was acceptable.
He was always the softer of the two. Learning how to play chess from the books that were his grandfather's and from his grandmother's cookbooks, he and Eve learned to cook, as Edward never could. Overall, he's happy to be with his small family and content to grow up and be the ultimate protector of his friends, a beater for his family Quidditch team.

My life goal is playing beater beside Easton, on whichever team they both get one, then taking over the family Hopping Harpy.

I'm interested in Romantically? Almost anyone. Sexually? Almost nobody.

People can describe me as Outgoing. Eve is the definition of no fear. She will try anything at least once and has her father's competitive and compulsive gambling. No matter how weird or creative her new idea for a drink/recipe is, she is going to figure out how to make it happen. In that sense, she is a perfectionist and is always striving to be the best.
My background story is Growing up in America with my mom and brother was harder than most people would realize. She was always the second twin, the one her mother would choose to forget about if she could. While her father doted on her, her mother was obsessed with molding her brother into the perfect man and Quidditch player, everything Eve wanted to be. Eve was always meant to be a perfect little doll with perfect hair and a smile, when she was meant to be covered in bruises from falling out of trees. It was Eve who always stood up for Easton, one time even punching a bully when he knocked over his chessboard.
Now that her father has custody of them, she is happy to see her brother slowly coming out of his shell. They play chess, even though Eve finds it boring, and hit the practice Bludger back and forth, getting more competitive as only twins can. But where she really thrives is behind the bar. No matter how much her father yells at her to get out from behind it, those sweet puppy-dog eyes will always get patrons to try whatever new drink she wants to make. (Just say no. Her last monstrosity was a garlic non-alcoholic ginger beer with a curry spice cream on top.)
Overall, there is nothing this ten-year-old won't try at least once. She
I enjoy
-Making potions/drinks/infusions
-Cooking and trying new things (lemon oil infusion and garlic drinks, to name a few recent ones)
-Being around people (extrovert to the max)
-Watching the people in the studio dance or sing
-Training her crow to do tricks (easier than it seems)
I despise
-Edward won't let her infuse alcohol yet
-When adults talk down to her
-Going to bed/waking up early (is a night owl)
-being bored (with someone who is as hyperactive as Eve, its constantly)
-People who lie about the ingredients that are in things (she just about has a perfect palate and is hard to trick)

-Disappointing my brother.
-Small, dark spaces (a dare gone wrong, and she got stuck at the bottom of a well for hours before help finally arrived. She has to leave the door to the basement open)
My strengths are
-Potions. (She infuses drinks for fun; potions aren't that different.)
-Strong sense of justice. (has and will finish fights, but *almost* never starts them)
My flaws are
-Ego, she knows she is great and sometimes her confidence turns cocky and even egotistical.
-Perfectionism. She will (and has) stay up all night figuring out the exact ratios of making the new drink she is working on perfect

She also collects all of the shiny objects he brings her in a jar. When it is full, she will sort the objects into different categories. She specifically collects Muggle money and lost objects (keys and jewelry).

I work in Hopping Harpies as a bartender and singer
My life goal is I want to follow in Grandma's footsteps and become a singer.

I was in the class of 2063.
I'm interested in girls, guys, you name it. Unlike my uncle, I won't fall for anyone. I'm in it for brains, not beauty.
I'm currently with nobody.
People can describe me as
-As a hopeless romantic who wouldn't know what romance is if it slapped me in the face. It's the ultimate curse of the House Usher.
-Confidently belting out the bridge of the song on the radio while serving drinks and dancing along with the song. Has gotten on the bar and danced like she's a Coyote Ugly bartender.
-Reserved in the way that her bar personality is not the same girl you would meet on the street. Addy, behind the bar, is bubbly and happy to see everyone. While in reality, she is happiest outside and watching her cousins play with the dog.
-Mom friend who will gently parent friends, the twins, her uncle, and even patrons. She will randomly start handing people water to drink and to remind them to share. Granted, she also lets Evelyn use the liquor to make infusions, so not all of the decisions are winners.
My background story is The Usher family is a family of twins. So, while her Uncle Edward got the magic genes, her dad did not. She grew up knowing that her family used magic, and instead of hating his brother, her father was always very kind to his brother. They would spend holidays together in Salem, Massachusetts, where the Muggle Usher family kept their residence.
While the Magical Usher family had found their fortune in the music industry, the Muggle Usher family took over the secondary business, a sprawling tree farm that provides wand wood for many makers. Addy grew up in a 6-bedroom farmhouse that could have been classified as a manor house, complete with servant quarters and a dorm for the farmers.
It was on this land that she met her boyfriend, Ty, and her best friend, Mar. They were the thickest of thieves through their childhood, but when they got their letters to go to the Salem Institute and she didn't, it broke her heart. She stayed in Muggle school while they went off to learn magic. Granted, she did have her twin sister with her, a brainiac who was at an Ivy League for pre-med and business. She fell in love with Ty slowly, like one does with their childhood best friend. Letters were exchanged between the three of them, the way most kids in her school were texting. Every summer, they would go camping in the forest that was about to be cut for wood and give the trees the glorious send-off.
During the fall break of her senior year, she went on a campus tour of the Ivy League, which her sister had been accepted into. It was when she came back home that she found Ty and Mar in her bed with a poster welcoming her home, still needing to be hung. They had been together behind her back for the entire junior year and couldn't even keep their hands to themselves for the hour it would take to hang the banner.
So, all of her plans came crashing down, and so did her life. She rejected every school that accepted her and instead decided to pursue her love of music. However, House Usher had lost their record label, so instead she begged her Uncle to let her come help him at the bar. He agreed, but only if she promised to help watch the twins until they went to school for the next year.
So, she packed up her life and moved to Scotland. There isn't a plan; all she knew was that she needed a change and to run from her old life. So, that's what she did.
I enjoy:

-When people don't firm up plans. Without a time/place, that's not a real plan.
I'm afraid of
-One day, she will be overpowered by a witch/wizard and not have anyone to save her. (She keeps a pocket knife on her for this very reason. not that it will help much)
-Never making it as a singer. While she appears confident, she has a fragile ego when it comes to her singing voice.
My strengths are
-Creating the perfect playlist for any event.
-Knowing how to listen and be there for someone. Ultimate bartender-therapst
My flaws are
-Fragile ego. She is certain that everyone is lying to her and nobody could ever love her again.
-Does not understand wizard laws. No idea what the legal drinking age is, nor does she know that children under 17 shouldn't use their magic outside of class.
I look like
I also have a bunch of tattoos
-a snake wrapping around a bouquet of wild flowers, with Act I Scene V in cursive underneath. This is along her spine.
-a wand sticking out of a carnation on her sternum. She got this in memory of her grandparents when they died.

My pets are
-A long-haired calico cat named Baby. She hates everyone, and is mainly a maincoon, so she packs a mean punch with her paw. Her favorite pastimes are swatting East's toad and letting Eve's crow bring her stuff to play with. She tolerates the dog, meaning that it is her best friend and will smack anyone who is mean to it.
-A dumb germanshepard named Bud. He was her ex-boyfriend, and she got, stole, him when they broke up because he was practically her dog anyway. He likes when the kids play with an unspelled bludger because he gets to play fetch. Will do tricks for treats, and will do anything, follow you around for life, if you have whipped cream.
