EARLY CHILDHOOD Rowanna Chahal was born in Leicester, the youngest child of Naya and Amar Chahal. She has an older sister Jiya and a brother Deccan. Her father was an herbologist and her mother was a wandmaker. Ro grew up with a deep fascination for both subjects. And just about everything else she could get her hands on. By the time she was getting ready to start school, she had notebooks on notebooks full of everything she had learned about magic and all she wanted to learn still. When she got her Hogwarts letter she began to start counting down the days until the start of term.

SCHOOL YEARS Ro loved every bit of Hogwarts from the moment she stepped off the train, though she was admittedly anxious about it as well. Luckily, she managed to make friends pretty quickly. In fact, before they even made it to sorting. She met Nora Dashwood and the two became fast friends, especially when they were both sorted into Hufflepuff.

Throughout her time at Hogwarts Ro often found herself in the background, and quite frankly, she didn't mind a bit. Other students got involved in sports and school politics but she was happy to just sit back and watch. Most of her time was spent on classes and studying and the few clubs she picked up. It was during school that she also decided her plan after graduating was to become a professor at Hogwarts. She pushed herself so that she would have plenty to show for her time at school when she reached adulthood.

POST-GRADUATION Upon graduation, Rowan was still set on her goal of becoming a Hogwarts professor, but she'd have to wait a few years until she was old enough to qualify. In the meantime, Rowan got a job at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries as a tearoom attendant. She enjoyed it well enough. The job also led her to move in with Nora because her flat was an ideal location for both of their jobs.

One day, after Rowan had finally turned twenty-three, Nora arrived home from work with great news. She had learned that Hogwarts was in need of a new Potions professor, which was exactly Ro's dream. She immediately apply and to her astonishment and pure joy was hired.
