Elkurud had, perhaps, bitten off a little more than he could chew.

In his defense, he was absolutely new to actively engaging with the Chaos entities that existed her eon Earth. Chaos soldiers. What have you. The strange not-Knights with their deadly weapons and awful dark auras, like the woman currently chasing him. He'd interrupted her draining energy, but she'd drawn a sword, and Elkurud could certainly throw a punch and was glad to scrap, but tangling with someone with a deadly weapon seemed like an unwise decision.

So he'd started running, and she'd followed after him, in a heart-pounding rooftop chase from the park where he'd confronted her. Honestly, Elkurud was desperately hoping that he might find some backup--scrappy as he was, and with as much knowledge of fighting as he had, backup was always better, especially when his opponent had both a size advantage (so tall!) and the advantage of a sword that could probably take off his head.

He could feel another Senshi aura nearby. Maybe he could stall long enoguh, if he tried--and that was when an idea hit him.

Elkurud stopped running, and doubled over like he needed to catch his breath.

If he could lure her in, get off one good hit--that might give him the opportunity he needed, to stall long enough for someone else to come and investigate.

Akaganeite was having what could best be described as A Night. Not good, no, but not per see terrible either, just....A Night. A Night that now included chasing a feathery-eared Senshi across rooftops and hoping for an opportunity.

Things had started out fine. She'd managed to collect a decent amount of energy, but "decent" was just "decent," and after all the work that had been put into whatever Laurelite did to attack the Calamitous Hollow, it felt to her as if the Negaverse needed better than just decent work from its officers.

And, she had fallen in that battle. Frightened Ako. Perhaps caused more stress for Jet and Aquamarine, in an already high-stress situation. So, although no one had told her to, she felt as if she needed to do more. To prove herself. To show that she was as dedicated as she had ever been.

So much the better, really, that the alien Senshi had shown up to interrupt her. He'd thrown some insults, but when she'd drawn her sword, he'd taken off running--and now she was chasing him down, fully prepared to do whatever she needed to do.

Her hope, truly, was to capture him--to bring him back to the Negaverse and discover what he knew.

And he was tiring. Akaganeite felt a burst of energy, and when he stopped moving, she teleported to close the last bit of the gap between them.

"Do not resist," she said, "and this will be a painless experience."

She reached for his starseed from behind. Pull it, render him unconscious, and carry him back with her--a simple, brilliant plan.

She was not prepared for him to jerk up and smash his head into her chin, making her stagger backwards.

"You--!" She reached up, checking her face--no broken nose, no bleeding, so hopefully just bruised. Ugh. What a clever little b*****d.

Elkurud grinned, broadly, as he spun to face the--Negaverse officer, wasn't it? That was hat Demeter had said?--who had been chasing him.

"Play stupid games," he said, repeating a phrase he'd heard a time or two while spending time on the Destiny City University campus as Emer, just to soak in the local culture, "win stupid prizes. Today, your stupid prize is bruises. Now, back off, or I'll give you a few more."

Sure, it probably wasn't a huge threat, but...it was what he had.

Demeter still wasn't sure what they were going to do. Catching Lete seemed to be impossible, as of late. They really needed to have a talk with bun before making a decision. Patrolling was a good way to take their mind off it, for now. Sort of. Maybe? Beating up Agents who were all gung-ho about murder sounded pretty nice, at least.

...They hadn't used to be a violent person. What had happened? Had they really changed so much?

Sighing, they stiffened as they caught the aura of an Agent—and—was that Elkurud? Possibly? It felt familiar... They leaped and sprinted for the auras, heart pounding.

Starseed stealer. Murderer. Scowling, they went to body slam the Agent as silently as they could. The less they announced their presence immediately, the better.

"Demeter!" Elkurud didn't bother to hide his delight at their arrival, watching them slam into the agent and send her off balance. With the distraction applied, he darted in, grabbing for the wrist that held the sword and digging his nails in like claws.

If he could make her drop it, that would neutralize the threat, or at least he hoped so. The quicker they brought her down together, the better off they'd be.

Or at least, they could make it clear that fighting them wasn't worth it, and that would hopefully be enough to chase her off on its own.

s**t. The second Senshi slammed into her, and Akaganeite stumbled; not quite taken off her feet, but definitely put off balance. Which meant that when the little feathery b*****d darted over to dig his nails into her wrist, she was already on the back foot for trying to struggle away.

"Let go," she hissed between her teeth, but there were certain reflexes that were difficult to repress, and his nails dug just right to make her lose her grip.

Her sword clattered to the ground, and she tried to yank herself away to get to it, but his grip was stronger than he looked.

"Let go," she demanded, a second time, "and I will consider letting both of you leave with your lives."

Demeter grinned and gave Elkurud a cheery little salute before grasping the upper half of Akaganeite's other arm. They didn't know what had suddenly possessed them, but with the agent's sword on the ground and Elkurud beside them...

They lifted their free hand to Akaganeite's face and grasped her chin harshly, squishing her cheeks.

"Funny, you're the one caught in our arms, sweetie," they said with a little giggle. "Who's leaving alive, exactly? Because given that you were so ready to kill my friend, it just might not~ be~ you~"

They ended their sentence in a little singsong, grin turning dark. Oh, that was such a rush! They totally understood why people talked like that. It sounded like something Lete might say threateningly. Murikabushi would be so proud!

"Maybe if you apologize to my friend for trying to kill him, we'll let you walk away. El?" They tilted their head at him without taking their eyes off the agent.

There was something a little alarming about the way Demeter was acting. It was out of character, at least by Elkurud's measure--but then, he'd never seen them in a fight before. Maybe they got fired up like this, making threats and posturing.

And, anyway, they were right. The two of them had the advantage, at the moment. Elkurud kicked the sword away, looking more than a little amused.

"You ought to listen to my friend," he said. "I have a whole dead planet we could leave you on, if you want to make problems."

A little posturing never hurt, anyway. Sell the idea that despite the fact that they were smaller and physically weaker, they could still stand up to her.

The thing was, both of these Senshi were incredibly cocky, but Akaganeite knew something neither of them did.

She was not strictly single-hand dominant.

Not fully ambidextrous, no, but she could do some things with her left hand. And so it was to her left hand that she recalled her sword, and while she didn't move to fully stab the Senshi that had so cockily grabbed her chin, she rapped the flat of her sword against her side.

"I will not be apologizing for doing my duty, and I never intended to kill your little bird. Now let go of me. Or I will run you through."

Demeter hissed in pain with the sword's strike, digging their nails more into the agent's chin before they let go of her face. Well, so much for that. They'd felt so sexy and cool, too! Standing up to the agent of Chaos with a friend they really liked who was also definitely being kinda sexy and cool! Bleh! This ruined their entire good mood.

"If you didn't intend to kill him, you shouldn't have tried to put your hand in his back," they retorted, backing up and crossing their arms over their chest. "So, screw you. Go jump in a youma's mouth or whatever it is you guys do with your free time and leave people alone."

Elkurud let go of the Captain's wrist when she resummoned her sword, stepping back to give the blade more of a wide berth. That was...not great. He hadn't known they could summon those back to them if they were disarmed.

"Go," Elkurud said, flatly, "but I'll remember your face."

One day, he would be stronger again. And then, he'd be far more able to face them.

"Make your threats," Akaganeite said. "I know myself, and I am the one with the sword, here."

Two of them against one of her. The odds were fine, but perhaps annoying. She exhaled, then bowed, and vanished into the night.

Childishly, Demeter wrinkled their nose and stuck their tongue out at the spot where the agent had vanished.

"What a... a... terrible person!" they fumed, stomping their foot just a little before turning to Elkurud with concern. "You okay? Little Miss 'I have the sword' sure ran quick. Do you need any healing?"

Heck, they probably could've used it before that bruise from the sword smacking their side really had time to blossom and cause them horrible aches, but they were reluctant to just use it for themself if nobody else near them needed it. It felt like a waste.

Elkurud exhaled. The Captain was gone, and they were safe, and no one was particularly stabbed.

"A little winded, and my head hurts from whacking my skull into her chin, but I'll be alright," he said, waving a hand. "Thank you for backing me up."

They'd gotten through this one alright. Elkurud couldn't help but feel relieved.

He'd have to be careful about what fights he picked in the future, it seemed. But he was managing, so far.
