Quote:
The snow has finally melted from everywhere except the mountaintops. Flowers and plants make their final push through the soft ground as it finally defrosts to bloom and sprout; leaves return to bare branches. Green and warmth are returning to the Kawani lands. Warmer days have melted frozen lakes and the snowmelt coming down from the mountains seems greater than previous years (perhaps credited to the blizzard). New rivers and streams are being created from this snowmelt and lakes and rivers are widening and rushing.

How does your soquili react to the changing landscape? Do they stake claim to one of these new bodies of water? Does the creation of a new stream put their territory at risk? Do they have to relocate?

Write an RP responding to the above prompt telling us about how your soquili responds to the changing soquili lands.

After the storm, the sun warmed the land, melting away the snow-white powder that chilled to the touch.. Burds began chirping as the ocean regained its usual ebb and flow as spring arrived. The grasses from the coast were growing strong as the leaves on the trees unfurled with a sleepy demeanor. Even the birds were returning to the coast with their melodious sing-song announcement. One such creature awoke with a heavy yawn. As much as he loved water, snow was another nuisance he could do without. In routine, he munched on stored grass then stretched his short legs. Pulling himself to his feet, the young stallion known as Bahamas was ready to start the day in the ocean and sunshine. Being a nixie, he was not too fond of winter. His fins and tail would freeze if they got stuck in that marlarky. Unlike his brother Caribbean, he preferred the more laid-back approach as he drank some stred water in the grotto. His mother and brother had begun their days in the sunshine early, it seemed. He thought whimsically of Zelva, wondering where she was drifting to at the moment. She had been an interest that unequipped his filter for the more quiet life. Caribbean had Oceania Ylli in his life, swimming out into the ocean for days on end. Their mother finally found Nassau to mend her lonely heart. Bahamas... well, he didn't have anyone in particular as his eyes adjusted to the light outside.

There were still traces of snow melting into new waterways that mingled into existing streams. Some trees were uprooted as Bahamas moved toward the adjacent forest. The further he moved in, the wider the water moved as it burrowed through the moist dirt. Being a nixie, he found the water inviting as he galloped alongside these new additions. Hooves splashing, he used his tail as a large rudder to navigate in the deeper areas. This reminded him of playing in the ocean when he and Caribbean were mere foals. As he raversed the new waterway, Bahamas emptied into the larger stream that could have been a small river. All that compiled snow from the never-ending storm had created a water wonderland. He chuckled to himself as the small river emptied into the closest river. Using his tail as a propeller, Bahamas propelled himself out into the deeper water, toward the smaller islands he could rest upon. Not too far off in the distance, the swimming stallion saw some larger islands; one in particular was being occupied. As he neared the island closest to him, Bahamas pulled himself onto the patch of land, proceeding to sun himself before returning home.

Another nixie, resting upon a smaller island, sitting tall, basking in that warmth that kept their happiness at full. They had followed the waterway, starting in early morning as the sun first kissed away the frozen menace. The ending place was this cute array of islands that seemed to appear as the snow gave its long-awaited goodbye. Ears perked to the dancing water, the nixie simply sighed. She had awaited this moment since the storm made its appearance. Her tail playfully bounced in the rushing waters as the sun warmed her entire being. She attuned herself to the natural sounds around her as the current pulled downward to areas unknown. Things seemed in order, making her regret the time she'd have to return home. While other Soquili were fighting over new water sources, the female nixie just glided from water to water, unaware that she would not be alone. As her eyes were closed, she smiled to herself, at peace with everything. Then she heard some splashing from further away as it grew closer to her location. It eventually stopped as she opened one eye, head turning to see what had joined her perhaps 10 feet away. Much to her surprise, she noticed it was another Soquili, interestingly enough another nixie. Both her eyes opened now to gaze over at her new neighbor. They were much larger and had longer flowing hair and amazing unique tail. She wasn't sure if they were friendly, but Antigua was quite curious who they were.

Bahamas beamed in the warmth of the sun, but he couldn't shake the feeling that that other Soquili was watching him. So, an eye opened carefully to see something, someone who captured his attention. It was another nixie enjoying the warmth of the sun. To his curiosity, it was a mare who seemed interested in watching him. That is till he made visual contact with her, causing the little female to turn her head, closing her eys again. Bahamas chuckled to himself as the river waters picked up speed with rushing waters from more melting snow. His tail swished playfully as the pulsating waters grew higher toward him to the point of mountain water splashing on his soft skin. Eventually, he'd need to find a more stable island, so he surveyed for a better one away from the rushing water. Using his tail, he pushed himself into the rushing water as he made his way to another stable island. As the water picked up faster, he grumbled till his time was occupied with hopping from island to island. Soon, he was near the mare, who went back to sunning herself amidst the rushing, chilled waters. Bahamas pulled himself upwards, tired of relocating till he was but a few feet from the mare. What turned out from serenity was more of a game of being safe from the now turbulent river. Pretty soon, he noted she was also hopping from island to island, possibly annoyed by all this crazy water.

The mare's serenity was short-lived as the river's current picked up immensely. "So much for a day in the sun," she sighed as her nimble little hooves began carrying her from island to island till she too was a few feet from her neighbor. At first, she opted to ignore him when he was starting to get closer, but her curiosity got the better of her. Turning to face him, she spoke aloud, "Lovely day for a sun soak, right?" She couldn't help but hope he wasn't irritated by her cute little joke. The water was getting worse, making her regret soaking in the sun. It must have snowed in the mountains heavily to cause this much flooding. Feeling her island crumble, she noticed the male's island wasn't dissolving as much. So, with bated breath, she made a huge jump,p landing on the large patch of land that somehow wasn't disappearing. Being shy, she turned away from him as tree branches rushed past them. Then the island broke free as the two nixies were pushed downstream. Digging her hooves in the ground, the mare closed her eyes, afraid of what lay ahead.

Bahamas grew weary as the water seemed more active, as his islands vanished. Pretty soon, his slice of tranquility would disappear down the river. If only he could propel himself towards the water's edge in time. Suddenly, he heard her voice for the first time. A little joke about being out in this crazy river sun soaking. Bahamas chuckled as she sounded annoyed, much like he was about this situation. Then, he realized she was jumping from island to island, landing on his island. Momentarily, Bahamas had forgotten the danger they were facing to admire her close up. She quickly turned from him, perhaps she was shy, he wondered. Then, the weight of both nixes combined with the rushing water was too much for their little life raft. Once loose, Bahamas felt the rush of wind as they raced down the turbulent rapids. Immediately, his thoughts turned towards his companion. worried this out-of-control piece of salvation would evict them both, he leaped into action. Hoping she wouldn't freak out, he pulled himself against her as he dug his hooves into the ground that held them stationary. His long, eel eel-shaped tail wrapped around her securely. Knowing that their little island could dissolve at any moment, Bahamas opted to hold onto her till the threat dissipated. The river now stretched out massively as the thick snow melted into the turbulent rapids, carrying them further away. As he leaned in closer to protect her, he spoke, "I'm sorry if this seems forward, but I want to make sure you are safe".

As the island broke free, it coursed the river now raging like a vortex. The female nixie was terrified as she braced herself. These islands were purely for sun-soaking, not surfing toward a destination unknown. She shivered thinking this was her finale in the great world of wonders. The water was frigid as it splashed around her, threatening to steal away the sanctity she felt comfortable in. Swallowing heavily, she clenched her eyes shut, fearing her demise would come from a passing rock or tree branch the length of the river. Then, her heart stopped when the male leaned in close, his tail wrapping tightly around her legs. Normally, a forward stallion would have pushed her away, since she was a free spirit living in the calm instead of the excitement. She preferred laid-back days to the hectic ones other nixies partook in. As he leaned in apologizing for being forward, she relaxed a bit knowing he was protecting her. Never before had a stallion apologized for his actions, or worried about her instead of themselves. Her eyes opened slightly in relief as she leaned in for protection. As the small island slowly crumbled against the crashing waves, the female nixie felt secure close to this unique stallion. It took her a few moments to respond as they moved down the river overflowing with water from the mountains, "It's okay. I'll allow it". Honestly, she had no choice right now to judge anything, yet somehow she felt a kindred spirit within this strange stallion.

Bahamas felt her lean in closer, a feeling of relief washing over him as he continued to protect her. Even with Zelva, he hadn't felt a connection this deep in a long time. He had no inkling where they were headed as the river carried them further from where he called home.

Bahamas was content for the moment, knowing they were both still alive. As the water splashed on his side, he felt the chill of winter mingling with spring. Then his ears perked, perhaps sensing something ominous on the horizon. A tingle rushed through him like a warning something was approaching. All rivers eventually meet the sea, any water-bred Soquili breed knew this by heart. As his eyes averted toward the direction they were heading, he saw in the distance what his senses were screaming. There would only be a few moments to decide hoping she would also. As their leap of faith grew near, he leaned in wrapping closer to her form, a brace for what was nearing ominously. Whatever happened at this point, he would forever know he made the correct decision. "Do you trust me?" he spoke as calmly as he could, "Stay as close as you can... I will protect you".

The mare knew as well their fate was intertwined as she chose to stick to him like an octopus. She too had an inkling of what they were rushing toward. Being laid-back, and tranquil, the mare was terrified she could die as soon as the river swept them to the edge of their journey.

As he queried, "Do you trust me?" She wanted to close her eyes and scream, yet her response was light, soft as a feather, "Yes"

As the horizon appeared, the sun reaching upward, she tucked herself as tight as she could into him. The island was crumbling as a broken log snapped pieces of rock and dirt away. Then she saw the edge of nowhere as they would fly like birds, gravity pulling them downwards to the pool below. Clenching her eyes shut, the horizon was upon them feeling an instant of pure bliss, floating like two feathers. At that moment she spoke, "I believe in you", as the rapids carried them downwards to the pool below. still surrounded by the stallion, she opened her eyes as the island disappeared beneath their hooves. Both mare and stallion plummeted down toward the overflowing pool beneath them.

Her words were like a cloak that curled neatly within his heart as they were propelled over the edge. Still wrapped around her tightly, he felt their forms being pushed down the cascading falls welcoming them eagerly. Feeling the splash around them, Bahamas felt his tail loosen as they were starting to separate from the impact of the water. Frantically, he turned, as she released from his protective hold, propelling like a rocket he caught up to her. The pool overflowed into streams as they broke off from the waterfall pool alive with new water from the mountains. He swam to her as she fought to regain her footing, Bahamas caught up to her, and they pushed toward the newly formed streambeds. Once they gained footing, both nixies found themselves upon land once again. Bahamas hair soaked in water curled as he moved toward her. "I told you I wouldn't let you go He smiled toward her admiring a cute nixie in a new light. As the waterways broke past them, he sighed, "I have no idea where we are". Bahamas hated being in this position knowing nothing of a plan for the future. He worried she was lost as he was, not knowing where they would go. How would he return to a place he had no idea was anywhere near here?

It seemed impossible as the mare's small hooves tried pulsating, pushing against the water. It pulled her out of his protective gesture as she felt herself pulled toward the newly forming streams. She tried pulling herself around to capture a glimpse of him as the cascading water pushed her in the opposite direction. She was growing tired in this endless vortex, till she felt the stallion's tail wrap around her, leading them to safety. Feeling joy she followed him till they both were safe upon land. "Antigua" she blurted out. "My name is Antigua". It was such a sudden gesture creating a feeling better as she finally told him her name. He would tell her his name when he was ready of course. "Thank you" she smiled, cheeks blushing, "for protecting me. That was some adventure huh?" She looked past them wondering what would happen now that they were both stranded somewhere from their normal homes. She liked having him there since she was a bit overwhelmed with everything. He in her eyes was handsome, a kindred spirit that mirrored her own in so many ways. His mane moved in the breeze like the running river or ocean waves. She nibbled on the lip of her muzzle, "Would you mind terribly, staying with me?" Blushing she wondered if he had a mate waiting. Surely, as handsome as he was it had to be true. "What I mean is... well... if somehow you weren't lifemated. I'd love to be your mate" She turned blushing once more, hues of ocean mixing with the soft red of a sunset.

Standing upon solid ground was a blessing, even in a nixie's eyes. His attention lingered only on a beautiful female nixie named Antigua. He tossed his head, letting his long mane swirl past him, "I'm Bahamas. I will forever protect you... Antigua. Momentarily, he thought about Zelva, their beautiful children, he knew she was more of a free spirit This mare that he had rished his life for was the missing piece in his life. He'd spent years seeking "the one" and he found her. Smiling toward the blushing mare he chuckled, "Antigua. I doubt I would have the courage to ask you to be my mate. Instead, you have completed that idea". He stood tall then moved by her side, "I have no idea where, why we were sent here. But, you are the missing piece I have been looking for, for many years. I'd be honored to have you by my side in a lifetime of raging rivers... now and forever you are my island in the river, stream, ocean".

Antigua's heartfelt vibrant as he admitted he fell in love with her. Smiling she leaned in licking his cheek. "It's settled then... Bahamas" Antigua laughed leaning into him on her own accord this time. Things would forever be a new light that shone proudly upon new adventures for both of them. If any new obstacles arose, they'd tackle it together.
