Oberon frowned at the colored rock, then glanced around as if to try and figure out if there was anyone ready to jump out at him. When he didn’t see anyone, his gaze turned downhill. In all the trees and hills and large rocks and changes in the natural landscape, it wasn’t surprising that there was a cave close by. But unless you knew to look for it, Oberon doubted anyone could find it.
At least that was his hope.
Carefully, so as not to alarm Caedus by his approach, Oberon made his way down the hill, carefully lowering himself down some steep drops, doing his best not to slip on any moss or leaves.
They’d agreed on a code, but not how to alert each other when they were close. They hadn’t had any reason before.
Oberon pursed his lips together and whistled. It almost sounded like a bird, but someone who was living in the woods, surrounded by birds all the time, would hopefully recognize that it was not a bird call that was heard around that area.
