”I seriously can’t wait for spring break,” Siobhan sighed heavily as she hoisted her bag onto her shoulder, carefully straightening out her uniform before glancing over at her Brooklyn. They had spent a decent amount of time studying for their upcoming exams, but it was getting late and she was getting hungry, so the plan now was to pack it in, grab some food, and then head back to the dorms. She had a feeling she'd pass out super quick after food, with the way the recent amount of studying on top of school work was completely sapping her of any excess energy she could possibly have after a school day.
Which already wasn't a lot, so exam months were particularly tough on her. But it helped to have friends around so they could study together and support each other and all that good stuff.
“Oh! Speaking of,” and immediately her expression brightened some, as though a bit of life had been injected into her, because she’d been meaning to ask but it kept slipping her mind for whatever reason. “Have you made any plans yet?”

It was so nice. Fitting in. Having friends…a friend. Who was just that. A friend. There was no need to think about the war, no need to worry about what could happen if things went wrong. There was only school, Wobbles and the worry that they might be poisoned by the cafeteria. (Not that Brooklyn ever thought she was going to be poisoned from the cafeteria, the food here was wonderful.)
“I haven’t made any plans, no. Might spend some time with outside of school friends? Maybe my friend Julian will want to do something.” She shrugged. And gave a little smile. “What are you, planning? Anything fun?”
Maybe Siobhan would want her to hang out a little. She wouldn’t mind that, not one little bit. She adored hanging out with her.
“If you have room for me, I’d love to tag along, just saying~”

The term “fun” was relative. Siobhan did have fun things planned…but probably not what most teens would consider fun. She had long since started planning and designing the new setup for her room, and was looking forward to spending the week-long break executing it. Of course, she had planned time off to spend with family and friends. Knowing her group of friends, there would be at least one trip to the mall. Probably more, actually, which she didn’t mind! But she was really hoping to get her room done before heading back to school.
Siobhan shrugged her free shoulder, smile steady as she linked arms with her before they started heading out.
“Fun for me, yeah,” was her reply, and she flashed her friend her pearly whites before she went on. “Redoing my room at home. But I made sure to keep time open to hang out. I was wondering if maybe you wanted to squeeze me into your plans, if ever.”
They were just leaving the main area, apparently among the last to leave, when she spotted it. Some kind of glass…something…on the table they were about to pass. And it caught her eye because it was just so out of place. In a music room, maybe not–a few steps closer and she could tell that it was a flute–but here?
Siobhan reached for it without really thinking, wanting to bring it to a staff member so whoever lost it could easily find it. “Sorry, hang on,” she started to say, holding the flute up for Brooklyn to see. “Weird place to leave a flute, but–”
It took a second for the warmth radiating from the flute to register, but when it did…the next thing she knew, she wasn’t carrying her schoolbag anymore. Nor was she in her uniform. She was still holding the flute, though, and in the very back of her mind she could swear she heard the soft lilt of a calming melody. It somehow eased her into the shock and utter confusion at whatever the heck outfit she was wearing now.
It was cute though, so she didn’t mind all that much once everything settled.

Of the things that were on Brooklyn’s bingo card, her best friend at school powering up in the middle of the library was…nowhere to be seen. And in fact, she felt a little…not unhappy but…well. Yeah. Unhappy. Not that Siobhan was a new Lysithea Page, that was amazing, and it made her happy, and there was no way she was going to diminish the excitement that Siobhan would most likely have when she figured out what was going on, but…
Now the normal part of her life. The schoolbit that she had enjoyed so much…it. It wasn’t over but…
“Wow, hi okay! This. It’s totally normal. For what it is. Luckily you’re with me and I’m absolutely an expert…okay so first. Quietly, we’re going to keep our voices really quiet, like beyond library quiet but…close your eyes and try to figure out what your name is like this…it’s going to be something of Lysithea, which. Is amazing, and I’ll tell you why when you’ve told me…I know I sound absolutely crazy, but I promise you, I’m not. I’m really not…so…so what’s your name?”

“This is normal?”
It didn’t seem normal, at least not in her life up until now. She’d never once had the experience of changing her clothes without…actively…changing her clothes. So that alone definitely wasn’t normal, but Brooklyn didn’t seem surprised. At least, not the freaked out kind of surprised.
A few questions did come to her, but she nodded slowly at Brooklyn’s instructions for now. If she wasn’t freaked-out-surprised then that (hopefully) meant that she had a better idea of what was going on. So she closed her eyes and focused for a second. The melody she could swear she heard a few seconds earlier came back. It was clearer now that she was trying to focus on whatever just happened, a pleasant, quiet little sound. It seemed like a melody that paired with a children’s story, she found herself thinking, and she couldn’t help but smile as she listened for a while longer.
Her name came to her well before the song to its natural end.
“Weser,” she said nearly under her breath at first, and when she opened her eyes again she settled them on her friend and said it again. “Weser of…Lysithea.”

“Well, it’s normal for what it is, which…is kind of like. Magic so…yeah. It’s normal for magical things.” Brooklyn was nodding, eager and reassuring, and when Siobh–no, when Weser gave her name, she nodded again. “Good, good…okay, now I want you to think of you. Of my…of Siobhan. What you were wearing, what you look like, what it feels like to be you! It’s going to have you go back to being you. And then we can get out of here and go somewhere with less people and you and I can really talk about what’s going on…”
She would take her friend up to Stirling. That would be the best thing to do. They would get out of here and go somewhere private and Brooklyn would be able to tell her everything. “I have everything planned out so…let’s…just go ahead and do what I said, okay? It’ll be easier to get away if you’re not like…”
Brooklyn made a face. “If people can’t feel you.” Okay so that sounded horribly cryptic but…it was fine. All of this was fine.

Weser looked at Brooklyn, confusion as plain in her eyes as the trust she naturally had in her friend. And the trust won out in the end, though it took a few seconds for her to get there, only because the instructions were so…
Different? Interesting? She’d never really had to think about what it felt like to be her--she just…was herself, after all.
Never mind the people feeling her part. She would definitely have to ask about that later.
So she did her best to follow her friend’s instructions, and sure enough when she next opened her eyes she was in her school uniform again, the full weight of her bag back on her shoulders, and the cute dress and flute now nowhere to be seen.
Naturally, her eyes went wide and she turned to take Brooklyn’s hand into her own.
“Please tell me your plan includes explaining what just happened?” she asked, a look of hopeful excitement on her face. She was doing her best to subdue it, but she had questions--starting with how exactly Brooklyn knew exactly what to do.

“Absolutely it involves answers. I wouldn’t just lead you on like that.” Brooklyn was nodding, and squeezed Siobhan’s hand tightly in her own for a moment before tugging her. They had to get away from the library. Out of reach of any prying eyes…and then…
Leaning close, she whispered into her friend's ear. “My plan also includes a trip up to space, if you can believe that. To a castle in space, which sounds absolutely impossible but…I promise you it’s true!” She stopped talking after that, leading Siobhan out of the library. “Okay…before we go, do you wanna stop at your room and get anything? I don’t think we’ll be there long but still…if you need food or something to drink, there’s really not all that much up there…”
She hesitated and grimaced slightly. “There was...but now that I’m not living up there I haven’t needed to stockpile anymore…”

Siobhan followed close behind her friend, though when she leaned in to whisper in her ear she couldn't help but pull back slightly and giggle–she was ticklish, okay?! Not that it was enough of a distraction to take her mind off of all this…magical? Stuff happening. And now she even mentioned space!
Eventually they made it outside, and once they were far enough from the library and into a weirdly empty park (maybe it was the time?) she tugged back.
"M'kay, I think we're far enough," she said, her tone not quite demanding but certainly not the usual gentle one she had. It was the tone she used when she talked about her designs, or a new wooble or five that she just got or finished. Siobhan was the picture of excitement, her expression brighter than usual.

Brooklyn gave a soft laugh and nodded when Siobhan decided that they were far enough, and honestly…they were, most likely. She…felt strangely nervous but drew in a breath. “Yeah, you’re right. Okay. So, this really…isn’t super rare, especially in this city, I feel like…most of the people I know are magical and I…”
She gave a sad sort of smile but shook her head right after. “I had been so happy to have someone in my life that wasn’t, but at least now I don’t have to keep secrets from you or lie if I ever get hurt, so…”
Taking a moment to steady herself, she allowed the warmth of Stirling to wrap around her, extending her hands so that Siobhan could take it all in. “So, yeah! I’m Stirling, Knight of Lysithea…it’s why I knew what kind of Knight you were right away…we’re like…together in this, which is super cool! Anyway…to become Weser again…it’s just like when you got rid of it. You just…think about it, and let the power cover you. Easy peasy. “Go ahead and try–I don’t feel anyone nearby so it’s safe.

It was so…interesting...from the explanation to the display of what powering up actually looked like. And Stirling's outfit was so cute, too! Siobhan was beaming, her eyes practically sparkling as she took it all in but fought down the very, very strong urge to squeal because the seemed like it would call attention to them and they were meant to be hiding.
Bobbling at the prospect of becoming…Weser…again, Siobhan closed her eyes, trying to think of what she could reach for in order to call her magic to her.
The melody came to mind, and then the flute…and then a curiously familiar warmth wrapped itself around her.
When she next opened her eyes, her uniform and bag were gone again, replaced by the outfit from earlier, and in her hand was the glass flute. She brought it close, expression softening for just a moment, as though it wasn't only the second time she had it in her possession, before she looked to Stirling.
"And you're saying there's a lot of people like this?"

“A ton, honestly. Most of the people I know are Knights…or Senshi…that’s…another type of magical person, ah…come on, let me take us up to Stirling so we can talk freely and you can really let go, I feel like you’re holding back in order to keep things quiet, which…is very smart and I’m proud of you, but.”
Stirling reached forward and took hold of Weser’s hand, closing her eyes and inwardly reciting the words that would take them up to Space. Up to Lysithea. Up to her Wonder.
