Getting through the mirror was just as frustratingly hard as it was last time, but she didn't push it and went slow. It still sucked, but when she came out the mirror hadn't decided to break or try swiss cheesing her. She still didn't like any of this, especially after looking over the photos on her camera's memory card. It was unsettlingly weird and she stood in the center of the hall as she button-pressed her way through them back and forth. It had her brows knitting together as she stared at them, trying to pick out if she could tell really what any of it was. There was like space debris, that she knew from school, but this magic stuff wasn't stuff people were taught of in school and she'd done her best to not deal with it when she could. Unfortunately, it was acting up right when things were getting close to their deadline in classes, so she needed to ask questions. She didn't have her tripod this time, so she couldn't threaten him with it like she'd considered the first time they'd met. And she was past the point of probably macing them. She still didn't like any of this, but once she figured things out here, she needed to check with Hybris to make sure he was okay too. It was important her gossiping friend was okay because he was a wet noodle and she would begrudgingly slide in more magic time to make sure her source of news would keep going to classes.

Remarque had been spending a lot of time in Mirrorspace, and he’d had his fair share of weird company and strange encounters. Especially in the last few days.
Now, Hela was a welcome sight, though he had to double take when he mirrorwalked into the room a few feet from her.
It hadn’t been where he was trying to go, but he’d forgiven Mirrorspace for its inconsistencies. Two wraiths followed him from the mirror, ran in frenzied circles around him, and then sped past Hela like they just realized they were late. They were small, but clearly solidified; they looked like excitable little dogs, if you ignored their eyeless faces They leapt into the same mirror and disappeared before Remarque could even comment on them.
He groaned, slightly. “I didn’t think I’d ever lose them. They’ve been running circles around my feet for the last hour. Have you had any bothering you lately?”

Pulling her foot up as one of the wraiths zoomed past her, she took a moment to regain her balance. "Oh fudge, what the heck is up with them?"
It took her another moment for what he said to play back in her mind, the wraiths having distracted her for a moment both from what he said and what she'd come to say as well. "Oh, well, not really I think? They were all like... lined up like kiddos for the bus lookin' at a mirror. They aren't like... gonna bite me or something right?" Taking a moment to look towards where they'd gone, she shook her head a bit and pulled her camera out of subspace. "Something really hanky is goin' on. Like I was trying to get home from class and instead of poppin' out in my apartment I got tossed out in the common room. It felt like some kinda sludge goin through the mirrors. Is it having a tantrum again like a few years back?" Looking down at her camera, she started shuffling through photos as she listened for a response.

Remarque grumbled again as his eyes followed where the wraiths had run off to.
“I don’t know, maybe. Seems a lot less dangerous now than it was back then, though. The wraiths,” he shrugged, “No, I don’t think they’ll bite you. They’re just excitable right now. They care more about gathering energy than us. They won’t leave me alone but none of them have tried to drain me.”
He didn’t say ‘yet’ because he didn’t want to jinx himself.
“I’ve been trying to follow them to see what’s so interesting but Mirrorspace isn’t making it easy. Most of the time, I get where I want to go. Recently, I’ve been letting Mirrorspace decide. Seems like it can’t make up its mind, either. It hasn’t taken me to the same place twice, but where it has led me doesn’t seem to be anywhere special. Strange rooms with strange mirrors with stranger sights.”
He tilted his head just slightly, obviously interested in her camera and setup. “Have you seen anything interesting lately?”

That maybe didn't sit well with her, but it was good enough for now that the wraiths were just hyper and not bitey. "Alright then, good enough for now I guess as long as I don't get nipped or sumthin." Turning the camera over for him to look through, she pointed at the weird orb of whatever eldritch abomination it was she'd seen. "Some weird sumthin' or other I saw, like I might not pay much mind to this magic and stuff, but it doesn't really give rub me the right way. I would say interestin' if it wasn't like creepy as all get out." She had no clue what it was or if it was just a bunch of who knew what's just clumped together. It wasn't like she could go look at them or anything, or wait.... maybe she could ask that funky museum guy that had given her a card. "Yanno, I wish I could like GPS or sumthin down here, leave like tags or markers to look around but stuff moves right? I think that's what Kiu.... something told me awhile back after that hullabaloo. Like the semester is still goin on and classes seem to be going right along so how much I can help might be a bit touch and go but if poking around is on the table I can do bit more of that." It seemed like it was something really weird so she should try to help out if she could, especially if mirrors were being weird.

Remarque accepted the camera like he was used to holding one and took his time to look over the pictures she’d taken. His face conveyed no great stress, only a morbid curiosity when faced with such grotesqueries.
“This place has been impossible to track so if anyone can crack the code, I’d like to know. I wish we could map any of this out, I hate not knowing what else is out there. Things we could find if we only knew what to be looking for? Thought about asking a Mauvian but I don’t know if they’d rig it so they could track things and leave us in the dark.”
Maybe he was only teasing, but so what if he anticipated the worst. He knew how bad things could get and it was hard enough for them to figure out what was going on even without worrying the Negaverse was going to get the upper hand in their own domain.
“I don’t know if it’ll bring you any relief to know that you’re not the only one to see things like this in the mirror. The ones I’ve seen haven’t looked like this. And others have seen things, too. Haven’t heard of one that looks like this. I don’t know where these are coming from or why the mirror thinks they’re important to share with us. For all the effort it puts to build these rooms and share these mirrors, you’d think it could give us an instruction manual or something.”
He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and returned to some of the previous pictures but he couldn’t glean more information from them. It came as no surprise that he didn’t recognize anything enough to even have an idea of where this was, or even if it was real.
“What I do know is that there probably aren’t mirrors out in space. So I don’t know where it’s getting these pictures, or if they’re even real. The wraiths like the mirrors that look like this, though. They always seem excited when one pops up.”

Hela listened as she shifted her weight back and forth between her feet and fiddled with the edge of the checkerboarded fabric of her outfit. It was kind of a bummer that even Remarque said her idea was impossible so far and he was like the one who knew stuff about all this. She wanted to explore though but this really wasn't the time so she'd think on it for the future, during summer break maybe. "Oh, well at least it meant's I'm not seein' stuff that's not there so ya guess that's good. It really liked being vague and weird doesn't it?" Taking a moment to look around at all the mirrors, she only nodded as they continued. "Well... that's kind of a bummer. I thought it might be cool to see space after that fancy alien guy had us all up in that museum with the roly polies." She'd keep an eye out for more though and also watched the wraiths a bit closer. "I'll keep takin' pics if I see sumthin though and let ya know if any of them n** me. Things are gonna be alright though, right?" She would have brought up her exams but in the grand scheme of things, if there was something hanky goin on school and scholarships might not be high on the list of priorities for most others.

“Things are going to be just fine,” Remarque assured, with an unshakable confidence. “We’ll keep our eye on things. But do me a favor, if you get free time, try to take the wraiths out to get a little extra energy. Don’t push yourself if you’re not comfortable with it, but Mirrorspace could probably use a boost if there’s something strange going on.”
He’d seen it crumble in the past, seen it buckle under the weight of all that it was trying to do.
He liked to think that they’d made Mirrorspace so much stronger since then. He liked to think if they poured enough into it, something would click and Mirrorspace would be able to take care of itself–and them.
Wishful thinking, but then, he’d always been preparing for the end of the world. He just thought it was going to be the Negaverse ending it.
“I’ll keep an eye on things and if I think it’s starting to get bad, I’ll let everyone know. Right now, I think it’s best if we just play it by ear. Who knows, maybe we’ll make it out better by the end of this. We might figure out a way to make it into space again. And maybe you’ll figure out some way to give us a better tracking system here. We won’t know until we try, right?”
