On the evening of Friday, February 21st, Destiny City was hit with a strange storm. Dark clouds hung over the city all day but it wasn’t until later in the evening that the storm erupted. The lightning was near constant and erratic, sometimes silent and sometimes loud and booming. The skies turned an odd shade of purple during the storms. The city had been expecting storms but this was something beyond their imagination. The air was dense, thick with a strange energy. Energy gathering characters might have noticed that they had increased gains, as if it were possible to gather energy from the air itself in addition to their intended target.

Lightning struck almost constantly, and Destiny City reported a number of minor damages. The storm lasted for only about half an hour before it seemed to burn itself out. Scientists have attributed the strange colorations to light pollution and a chemical reaction. Reports say there’s nothing to worry about.

Maybe you know better.

“Three? No… best make it five rooms,” He muttered to himself, absently chewing on the end of his pen before sketching out rough floor plans. The process was going to move quickly and he needed to really get these rough plans to the architecture firm he was hiring to create the official plans for the building. He would have done them himself but while he had the degree he did not have the time or the job backing it. So he would leave it in ‘profesional’ hands to do so. He was also leaving the other floors to them as well, it was just his own apartment that he was personally designing.

The building they were closing on was a four story old warehouse, plenty of space and located in a great spot for what he was planning. There weren't any issues with zoning, nor should there be issues with permits, but that was a hurdle that was yet to come. First and foremost was the building. Once that piece was put into place the ball really would start rolling and there wouldn’t be an easy way to change it once it started so Quinn needed to make sure everything was as good as possible. No hanging questions, no unknown answers. Everything squared away. There might be some things he would have to compromise on but he was going to try to avoid that if possible. It was going to take longer than he really wished but there was only so much that could be sped up with money and the longer he took with the rough designs the longer things will take.

Quinn bent back over his drafting table, ruler and pen in hand. He was so absorbed in what he was doing that when a monumental clap of lightning flashed, followed closely by the thunder, he physically jumped, pen sliding across the page. At first he glanced down at the marred drawing before looking out the wide expanse of glass that was the view from his apartment. The swamp of heavy clouds were lit from within by lightning, the rumble of thunder a backdrop. Quinn had known that the storm was brewing but this seemed excessive… and magically laden. The clouds were purple. He knew ‘green’ clouds were natural but this… this was nowhere near natural.

The man stood at the window for a little while longer, watching the light show, before turning away, already pulling out his cellphone. No matter if this storm was normal or not he had loved ones to protect. People to call. He glanced at the clock before placing several calls. The lightning was still arching across the sky by the time he made his last call.

“Darling I know you're still working but what time are you thinking of calling it a night today?” Anna was still at work so he watched the clock as he got an answer. “Ok, well I’ll come pick you up and we can go eat dinner. I want to show you what I was working on today. You know, get your opinion and everything.” It was an excuse really, he did not want her to go out in this storm alone. She might have been perfectly capable of taking care of herself, and their unborn child, but Quinn was not about to risk them.

“I’ll be there by the time you close up, I promise.”
