Backdated to February 23rd, 2025

He reviewed the message sent out by the Queen a few times, brows furrowed faintly and pleased with exactly none of the information present. It at least explained the strange weather the few days. The only up-side.

Seraphinite walked the halls of the castle without hassle or hesitation, his gate almost casual as he navigated his way to one office in particular. Off-world situation that may impact Earth, Metallia has directly advised... and the most annoying of bits, the idea that the ******** White Moon lot had potential access to additional information they'd need.

Any annoyance on his part was at least kept well under a calm exterior, and he looked like he had exactly zero feathers ruffled as he knocked briefly at Jet's door--a courtesy born more out of professionalism than a sense of personal requirement--before opening it and lifting his tablet in vague gesture.

The door at least was shut firmly and he was a bit away from it to avoid anything leaking out any cracks before he actually spoke. "The ******** all this?"

While Seraphinite did have a tendency to speak casually as ever with Jet, he kept that more behind doors and a façade of proper professionalism publicly. He respected Jet and all he'd done for the Negaverse, was proud of him for all he'd accomplished--but Jet was still Ilian to him, and the casual way of speaking was, for Jericho, a sort of show of affection.

Jet felt like he’d been working nonstop. Probably because he had been, save for the handful of hours he actually slept per the Queen’s orders and Aquamarine’s supervision. If it had been up to him, he would have worked straight through making sure the Earth was safe from whatever horror was coming.

Aquamarine had stepped out of the office for the time being, complaining that they hadn’t had anything to eat for hours, despite the various snacks and beverages Jet kept in his office for anyone who might need a quick pick-me-up. Of course, that wasn’t the same as a meal as Aquamarine reminded him before storming out.

He was sitting behind his desk, pouring over the reports he was putting together on his monitor, but looked up when Seraphinite knocked and let himself in. Jet didn’t mind, of course. If he didn’t want to be disturbed, he would have locked the door, and would have dismissed anyone who tried teleporting in.

He gave Seraphinite a slightly exasperated look when he held up the tablet.

“Have you noticed all the storms recently? Specifically the ones last night?” he asked, pushing himself back in his chair to stand. He was so used to Aquamarine’s cursing that anything from Seraphinite didn’t even register with him.

“We’re trying to get the details together. Something big is coming, threatening Earth. Aqua and I were out in the storm, got sucked up to some strange place with some other agents, and some White Moon Senshi,” he shared, picking up his tablet and pushing it to the other end of the desk for Seraphinite to pick up and go through the photos if he wanted. He was sure Seraphinite could piece together the story from the murals on his own.

“Saw something strange, too. White ceiling with moving stars and planets. I think I was the only one that saw it, but apparently it’s connected to the White Moon. Called the Celestial Theatre on the Moon itself, if it’s what I saw. I’m going to try to talk to some people to find out what they know.”

Maybe it was a bit of an information dump, but Jet didn’t see any reason to hide the information, especially not from Seraphinite.

Seraphinite only nodded a vague of course to the questions on the weather--they'd been weird, no doubts there, but then, so many things were in this city that while he would notice them it was still... not fully surprising? If anything, he was just more surprised by whatever kept fueling the oddities continued to bring up new methods of throwing weird s**t at them.

But this was... different.

He'd guessed as much from the Queen's directive, but hearing Jet's summary put a different weight on the events in his mind. He stepped closer to the other's desk, picking up the offered tablet and setting his own down for the moment to free up his other hand to flip through the images. The murals painted quite the tale, pausing on the images of the giant serpent coiled around a world, the cage of lightning, and finally things broken.

"You two alright?" He was processing all of the information, still listening to the rest of Jet's quick account of the events as he zoomed in and flicked about the images. "Not just talking about physical," he added pointedly, aware that clearly Jet was standing there, and if Aquamarine were hurt, well.

He'd joke that the entire Castle would hear the blond's bitching about it, but Seraphinite somewhat felt there was a nugget of truth to that. Plus, he'd put money on Jet being set on giving payback to whatever had done the damage, not standing there chatting with him.

The description of this... Celestial Theatre got a slightly skeptical look though from Seraphinite, pausing in his frowning over the image of a... blank wall?

"It'd be more likely that the Queen would have contacts at NASA who could get us up to the Moon, than the White Moon actually being helpful on anything. But what, some vision then? Any idea what triggered it for you?" He trusted any from the White Moon so far as he could throw them (which... hm, fun experiments to run--) but the fact Jet saw such a vision was... interesting. "Or the source of that vision?" Knowing what was sharing the information was... also extremely important to figure out how trustworthy its presented point of view was. He wasn't about to say two sides to a story about a world-eating serpent, but fear of such a thing could easily skew a perception into more of a panic than rational planning.

For some reason, Jet wasn’t expecting Seraphinite to ask if they were okay. He paused what he was doing and looked up at the man he’d long considered his brother, the tension in his shoulders deflating a little.

Sometimes it was easy to forget that people besides Aquamarine were worried about his (and Aquamarine’s) health. Physically and otherwise. The Queen, of course, but he could only guess that was mostly for practical reasons.

He glanced down at his wrapped hand, but held it up for Seraphinite to see.

“General Chalcanthite had a handful of energy he pulled from one of the walls. I tried using it to… reactivate the darkened circle. Got some bad burns, but I’ve already had it treated,” he quickly added, not wanting Seraphinite to think they were being completely irresponsible.

Well… maybe Jet was a little. But Aquamarine and the Queen made sure he took a moment to get his hand checked out.

As for his not physical health.

“Trying to remember to breathe,” he admitted. “Earth is in danger from a legitimate threat. We don’t have everything necessary to recreate that cage in those murals. We might have to work with the White Moon to at the very least make sure Earth isn’t destroyed.”

Oh, right. He was supposed to be breathing.

Which, almost ironically, segwayed into their continued conversation.

“I’m not sure what triggered the vision. I was focusing on this weird vibration or… I’m not sure what it was. A rhythm. Every twenty seconds it shifted, like-- a tide. Or breathing. The ceiling had some weird purple fog that shifted with the rhythm and I was staring up at that when I saw--... whatever it was I saw.”

He paused to take out the charred piece that had broken off.

“This fell off from the actual ceiling right after. Spoke with Commodore Lyndin about it. He said it was in their records as Moon-Specimen 1045. It’s over thirteen hundred years old. So I’m hoping that at least one of the Senshi who were there is going to follow up with checking out the Moon. And whatever this Theatre is. Aquamarine is going to work on writing up everything we learned so far to share it. He’s out getting some food now. He's uninjured.”

He stopped scanning over the data on the tablet when Jet held up his hand, eyes sharp as he took in the bandaged state before they flicked to focus on the other's face. At least the injury was already treated, so Seraphinite kept any commentary to himself for the moment. He was quiet in general as he listened, but he... wasn't exactly thrilled by any of this information.

Energy from the walls was an interesting bit--how was that place energized? Could they re-create it?

A rhythm? The idea that something was breathing in that place wasn't very cheery...

A thirteen hundred year old rock sample from the moon was interesting--what was it composed of? His mind was whirling. He eyed the piece, noting its charred appearance--was it charred from something like too much energy running through it at once? A short-circuit perhaps? Only when Jet finished did he speak.

"Did Commodore Lyndin mention anything about the rock sample having conductive properties? The fact the General was able to pull energy out of the walls is interesting--I'm wondering if the rhythm you heard, and the energy running through the place, are connected, in terms of... well. Have you ever heard the sort of whine from some electronics when they're working? There can be a few reasons for it, from vibrations of components inside the device as the electronic fields move around them from energy conversions, or if the device is failing, it can be a sign of a loose or damaged component. It can also happen if as part of the device being damaged, its got electricity in it that's not being funneled anywhere--like a phone charger? If you leave the charger plugged in, but disconnect the phone from it, or the phone is fully charged, that sound can kick up because there's all this electricity moving around inside the charger's components, but they can't go anywhere. Also why you get the whine from transformers on powerlines.... the twenty-second shift almost sounds like a switching circuit--sort of like letting only a set amount of energy through a dam gate before closing it off, so it doesn't go past a specific volume the receiving device can get?"

Science was something Jericho had long been fascinated with--tinkering with devices, taking things apart to see how they function, and needing to put them back together correctly to make sure they still worked. Electronics weren't really his specialty, but he knew some basic concepts. Plus, he'd Googled a similar thing plenty of time when his cheap phone chargers would start whining when he'd plug them in, so he knew of the general concept he was trying to convey. But he wasn't an electrician. Though, wasn't there some half-youma around that was electrified..?

He pulled up the image of the hexagon with the dark circle, and held the tablet in a way to point at it specifically to Jet. "Just the energy talk, and how this part's broken, makes me think of when a device can't move electricity properly through it, so it starts making the weird noises because that extra energy is being converted into sound and rattling around the components. But..." He shrugged, brows furrowing a bit. "It's all pure speculation. I could be entirely off the mark with every bit of this."

More than half of what Seraphinite was talking about went right over Jet’s head, although only the exasperated look in his eyes revealed as much. And very few knew him well enough to pick up that he might be in over his head on any given topic.

But he was determined to be as helpful as he could, even if he knew very little about electricity and things of that nature. He knew it wasn’t so much unlike music, but it was still beyond what he knew.

“Not the rock,” he quickly shook his head. “But there was something else we found. Aquamarine has it with him. It was like… a garden spike or… you know those glass bulbs you put into the ground near plants to water? Kind of like that. There’s a glass orb or something at the end, and that is a good conductor, apparently. We’re going to assume there’s supposed to be six, based on the shape of that room. We all got split up so who knows what everyone else found.”

He knew there was a lot that he was probably missing, but he was doing the research he could as quickly as possible. He was honestly relieved to see Seraphinite there and offering ideas that he hadn’t even thought about before.

“You might be right about the energy. Commodore Lyndin ran tests on the-- spike or electricity conductor or whatever it is. Said they needed to run more tests,” he added with a quiet scoff, clearly not trusting what the Velencian told them.

“I don’t know if I heard a whine, but if it was failing to make a circuit, maybe whatever energy Kerberos and I put into that dark circle was enough to temporarily connect it. It let us see some ruins down the previously darkened hall, like the whole thing had been torn apart. Ah, but everything was happening so fast, I didn’t get a chance to really look.”

He paused, and then grimaced with a guilty look up at Seraphinite.

“It was fine. The Senshi there were disappointingly not aggressive.”

A... garden spike..?

The description did at least give Seraphinite a pretty good mental image, though the mixture of mental images was... somewhat confusing. Frowning, he went back through parts of the database more recently updated with information from a few of the other agents involved. "Ah. A good description for it, actually," he tsked, bringing up the attached photo of the item from General-King Faustite's report. He zoomed in and out here and there on the image, particularly the orb that Jet mentioned. That thing was a conductor?

It looked like someone's Christmas ornament. Or some fancy crystal ball he'd see at a carnival fortune teller's booth.

"Any chance we can get any of our Mauvians to also test the spike, in case the Commodore doesn't deem all information necessary to share?" He gave a half-hearted shrug, still looking at the tablet. "Given the importance of the mission, it'd be understandable if a report missed smaller bits of data if they were deemed unimportant or negligible. The Mauvians might be able to identify any such parts, perhaps, so we wouldn't need to trouble him or his for clarifications." Seraphinite was absolutely not suggesting the Commodore might just keep certain information to himself, no, not at all...

He trusted Jet, but he wasn't convinced the damn walls of this place didn't have ears and eyes of their own at times, and didn't want to risk a potential conflict. Even if suspicions of the Velencians seemed... common place.

"Damage to the facility, or whatever it was, could go along with the broken circuit hypothesis--I'm guessing with all that going on, you weren't able to test and see if you could still hear the same noise or rhythm after things sort of powered on, so to speak?" From the sounds of it, things were too hectic for that, which while a shame, was understandable. Surviving an unknown force was more important than data collection in the moment, after all.

Setting down Jet's tablet, Seraphinite rested his hands with his thumbs hooked into his belt, lifting a brow to the other man. "Too scared to do much, probably. Still, surprised you didn't just end that one--though," he sighed with a slight side to side tick of his head, rolling his eyes somewhat, "smarter to let him live, if he might be a source of additional information. Think you could utilize him to hear what's happening with the White Moon?"

“Having our Mauvians take a look wouldn’t hurt. I’m hoping there are some that were already put to the task,” he frowned. He knew the Queen was doing what she could as well. Along with the other General Sovereigns.

As for the Commodore… Jet cast a glance up at Seraphinite, as though to agree with the suggestion he made, but without saying it out loud. Just a slight raise of his eyebrows, and he hoped it would be enough to let Sera know he was following his line of thought.

“The Commodore is a smart man and knows what needs to be done to keep his Vanguard safe,” he hummed thoughtfully. Because if they didn’t want the protection of the Negaverse, then they better damn well hope that they all perished by this world devourer.

“Unfortunately, no…” he sighed, not wanting to go into explaining everything. At least not there and not at that time. It wasn’t as important as figuring out how to save the Earth, anyway. He’d tried listening, but there were too many disruptions.

“He’s only alive for as long as he’s useful,” he huffed, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood from where he’d been sitting. He needed to stretch his legs anyway. He might start dozing off if he wasn’t careful.

“I’ll find him and get what information I can. Do you think you could check out the possibility of it being a broken circuit? I don’t know how we could test it other than maybe making a replica of the room and energy circuit. If it was that easy, I’m sure someone would have suggested it.”

Seraphinite did catch the look, and merely dipped his head to the side lightly in response. Mutual agreement, and a mutual disinterest in speaking too loud currently.

He watched Jet as he got up, though, having little more to comment on the current still breathing status of a senshi that had betrayed them, or the lack of further information from the prison-room itself at this point.

"Not sure how I'd replicate something like that, if I'm not sure how the circuit even was formed--let me see if I can find any software to help with simulations, no promises but best place to start fiddling with ideas on how electrical systems could hypothetically function." It'd likely be a waste of time to figure out how the energy moved through the walls, and possibly the ceiling, but if he focused on the hexagon...

He picked up his tablet, sending it back to subspace as he asked, "Up for a walk? Movement keeps your brain sharp. When did you last eat, anyway?"

“I ate recently,” Jet huffed with mild exasperation. “Besides, Aqua should be back soon with more food. He’ll have plenty for anyone working around the clock,” he insisted but nodded to Sera’s question. Stretching his legs would be a good idea.

“If we can make something close enough to be able to break it, maybe we’ll know more about how to fix it,” he suggested, although he knew that he was definitely not an expert on anything electrical.

“Maybe you can help me chart out where I can start looking for traitors that could help us,” he frowned, but knew it was likely going to be their best option. He knew they had a lot of work to do to prepare, but any little bit helped. Especially with others just as determined to keep Earth safe.
