While mirrors themselves are common in Mirrorspace, seeing more than your reflection is not. As such, the sudden recurrence of large mirrors, sometimes giant in scale, would have been notable enough even if they weren’t also depicting a clear view into distant space. These mirrors display both the beauty of space, and the horrors; characters may find views of worlds that appear alive and well, or sparkling stars or swirling galaxies, but they may also find what appear to be husks of worlds–dried out and withered. Great black holes. Debris. Maybe even the floating carcass of some strange, unidentifiable creature*. It is as if they are looking out of a spaceship window, watching the universe go by. It is impossible to walk through these mirrors; any attempt to do so may result in feeling a strange electric hum, or small to large shocks or sparks depending on how intense the attempt is. The mirrors have a great deal of energy and wraiths will often be seen gathered around them or draining energy. However, the strain is immense and these mirrors often crack under the pressure. Once broken, the view disappears and the mirror reverts to shards of glass.

Liam had left before Aloysius had gone off to meet with his Queen, deciding to get an early start on exploring mirrorspace, if only because it might take a long time exploring the white hallways and rooms that made up the vastness of mirrorspace. He wasn’t sure if he’d find anything and if so - where. Not to mention there was also the mirrorscape to search, there might be something there when nothing was to be found in mirrorspace.

He hadn’t been planning on taking anyone with him, because it meant having to go get them and bring them to mirrorspace, he wanted to get there and looking around as quickly as he could. But two sets of eyes might be better than one, and he knew it, so he’d reached out to Hedwig and managed to get ahold of them - they had agreed. So he’d had to get them, mirror walking to their home, he brought them with him into mirrorspace.

The trip into mirrorspace was easy, despite having to leave his home in order to meet up with Hedwig and bring them with him, the whiteness of mirrorspace was always so unfriendly, too bright, and it reminded him of a hospital in some ways. Thinking that, as he stood there, he had to laugh as he wondered if Lorcan would like such a sterile place as mirrorspace. Maybe, just maybe, he’d offer to show him this place. It might be boring but for someone so into cleanliness it might be impressive and not so boring?

Looking over to Hedwig, who was giving him a questioning look. “Don’t worry, just thinking of someone who would appreciate the sterile appearance of mirrorspace.” Though he found it boring, the only good thing was the random crystals turning up, the only other thing worthwhile about this place beyond the mirror was mirrorscape.

Hedwig had been surprised when Liam had reached out to him, despite the other being his mentor of sorts, he was not expecting to be contacted so early in the morning and asked to join them in mirrorspace. The place was boring! The fact they called this place a home was horrifying, it had nothing to offer any of them. Hallways full of empty white rooms, this was enough to drive a person insane.

When the other seemed to randomly laugh he turned to them, pulling his pale eyed away from the seemingly endless amount of white, and raised a brow at them in silent question. Had this palace gotten to them over time? Had they gone insane and he hadn’t noticed till now? Nodding once to the others explanation. “I see.” He didn’t but he understood it, sort of anyway. “So what are we looking for? It’s nothing but white…” Liam had mentioned that they’d be looking for things, but not what, and Hedwig honestly couldn’t see anything being here…not in this sort of environment anyway. It seemed hostile towards anything with color…at least that was how he saw it.

“We’re going to check the hall of mirrors first, if we see anything unusual along the way, I’m sending it to Chalcanthite who is in a meeting right now and could use the information.” That said to the other and Melpomene headed off towards the hall of mirrors, he should bring Chalcanthite here someday, his burner cell phone pulled out of subspace. Unlocking the screen he made ready to capture anything which may happen, incase it was fast, he didn’t want to miss anything which may help his partner.

Nothing however happened, nothing was amiss, till they reached the hall and that was where he took note of the unusually large mirrors and how many of them were there. Mirrors of various sizes were normal, it wasn't so uniform, but some of them were too big…and there were simply too many of them. Not only that but surrounding one mirror was a group of wraiths, which seemed to be taking energy from it. Was that normally possible? He’d never seen such a thing before, taking energy from a mirror, and he was unsure where the energy fro coming from. Certainly a mirror didn’t possess any energy of it’s own, how could it possibly, so were they gathering energy fro whatever was inside the mirror? Normally nothing was inside the mirrors though, it was just like a doorway for them.

Watching for a moment, silent and filming, he jumped when he heard the mirror start to crack before it shattered His phone nearly left his hands, as he jumped again, the glass covering the floor and the wraiths moving on. Turning his eyes, and camera, to Hedwig as he spoke.

“One at a time and we see them together, I don’t want to miss anything.” Motioning for Hedwig to pick a mirror, unsure if they’d all be different, he kept close to the others side as they picked one that was nearly as tall as he was.

Startled by the turn of events, ones he could tell were not normal, Melpomene’s reaction was enough to tell him something serious was going on and keep him silently standing there watching. Drawing in a shaky breath the newer dark mirror senshi finally got ahold of himself and nodded once to the others words, of course they should see whatever was going on with these mirrors.

Approaching what seemed to be the largest mirror, because of course he would, the senshi of adoration stood there for a moment watching as the vastness of space was laid bare before his eyes. Ignoring Melpomene right at his shoulder, and the cell phone they held up videoing everything, as he watched a galaxy swirling and the view seemed to drift in closer, so much closer, as stars passed by and dark areas where there was nothing could be seen before another star came into view. A planet then, at least he thought it might have been a planet, it wasn’t bright like a star. Floating past his view of the desolate, dead, planet seemed to be a carcass of something large that had once lived…and that, given its size, was intimidating and concerning. But it wasn’t alive any longer, when or how it died was impossible to tell, but he suspected whatever got to it had also taken out the planet.

“That’s…” Impressive, scary, and so many other things. He wasn’t sure what else to say and found himself simply trailing off, eyes wide, as he stared at the carcass as it drifted out of his view or they were moving again. They moved past the planet and to another nearby one which seemed to be in a similar state to the previous one…

“Something did this…but the mirrors never show things like this - you said as much.” So what was happening, why the sudden change? Was this what Melpomene wanted them to look for?

---------------

“No, they don’t. And they were taking energy from that one.” Nodding t othe broken glass on the ground. “I just wonder if they were taking from whatever was in that mirror, what it was showing, or somehow from the mirror itself…” Which made no sense to him, but he was curious nonetheless. Was it a possibility? Turning his phone to face himself he looked at it, knowing he was streaming himself to his fiance. “You got that, I hope. You were right in suggesting I investigate here. I’ll check out some other mirrors if you want.” But he didn’t know if, or when, the wraiths would return and he didn’t know if they’d grow violent if he prevented them from draining a mirror. Would they ignore orders from him too? Pushing that thought to the back of his mind Melpomene was ready to continue the investigation, all while streaming for the general on the other end of things.
