About Andrea

Name: Andrea "Andy" Doyle (not An-dray-uh; Anne-dree-uh)
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Birthdate: June 13th, 1983
Birthplace: Trenton, New Jersey
Nationality: Irish-American
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 123lbs
Build: Long, lanky limbs; scrawny; small breasts; incredibly awkward, jerky movements
Skin tone: Pale and freckled
Eyes: Bright green; always behind a pair of glasses
Hair: Inky black, smooth, thick and soft, Andrea's hair is short and not at all styled; it just barely licks the nape of her neck, and the front locks too far ahead to be considered the rest of her hair, and too far behind to be considered fringe, are usually looped behind her ears; choppy and uneven bangs hang over her glasses, often getting in the way and annoying the crap out of Andy.
Distinguishing Marks: Freckles are splattered all over Andy's nose and cheeks, sticking out as dark spots on her pale skin. She has but one tattoo: a small blue star on the inside of her left wrist.

Education: Graduate of Trenton High West Campus; Mercer County Community College dropout
Current Job: Waitress at Ewing Diner
Dream Job: Anything else
Sports: None
Mother: Alannah Walsh
Father: Gerald Doyle
Siblings: One younger sister, Kathryn (Ryn) Doyle; one younger brother, Nathan (Nate) Doyle

Personality: Andrea, or Andy as she's preferred to be called, at first glance can be summed up as your typical Jersey girl: smart-mouthed, impatient, stubborn, and a tad bit bitchy. She's truly your average young adult, albeit a bit tomboyish. She was a goof in school, a goof at home, and a goof in-between (except at work, where she's as kind as she can get towards customers). Her schoolwork suffered severely because of this, with a strong D+ in just about every subject, including Biology and Calculus. However, for whatever reasons, Andy seemed to be excelling greatly in English class. Her taste for literature, especially books that make her laugh out loud (or make her weep like a baby), is unshakeable. She finished out the year with D-'s in each class, except for English, which she got an A.

During highschool, Andy was considered the class clown. She almost always had something smart or silly to say or do, and it was very doubtful that she would do anything with her life once out of highschool. She's very outgoing and enjoys attention, and has no trouble embarassing herself for the sake of a laugh.

However, that is around friends. When in unknown company, she's very quiet and prone to be very shy. With friends, Andy's the loud, obnoxious one with the highscore in the p***s game, but stick her in a room full of people she doesn't know, and the once vibrant young girl will shuffle her feet and stare at the ground.

She has no qualms at all with herself and others letting out a few f-bombs here and there; if anything, she encourages it. Her accent is heavy New Jersey with just a tinge of slang.

And yet...everybody has their flaws, and for Andy, it's the fact that not only is she stubborn and hot-tempered, but judgemental as well. She'll take the time to plot out a personality for a person, regardless if she's met them or not, and be set in her ways that either that person and her will get along, or they won't. She's been known to hold a grudge long after the grudge-inducing incident has passed and apologies have been spoken. Her temper is slow but hot and hard to handle. She's catty to those she dislikes.

But with her long physique and bony frame, there is no doubt at all that Andrea Doyle is very graceful. She's like a swan, or maybe even a cat, in her movements, and she almost rarely trips or drops things or bumps into open doors.

Except not really.

Andy is one of the most awkward people you could ever know. Her tall and scraggy stature prevent her from acting cool or casual around others. She's always the one to trip over the leaf on the sidewalk, or walk right into the brick wall, and fall flat on her a**. Laughter almost always ensues, so perhaps--sometimes--she flings her body about on purpose.

Basically, Andrea Doyle is a kid at heart, and it's unlikely that she's ever going to change.

History: Andrea Doyle was born on June 13th, 1983, in Trenton, New Jersey. Her mother and father were either too poor or too cheap to spring for a birthing at Mercer Hospital (the hospital used most often), so Andy was delivered right in the room she would later call her bedroom.

Andrea's mom and dad, Alannah and Gerald, loved their first--and apparently only--child with a fierceness thought only found in animals. They weren't abusive, they never beat Andy...they were generally good parents. A little over-whelmed at all this "raising a kid" crap, but good.

The Doyles weren't exactly rich--they lived in a dilapidated house in the hood (and, coincidentally, the place of Andy's birth!), and Alannah worked as a cleaning lady in the little bodega across the street; Gerald was a janitor at Andy's elementary school.

When Andy was three, her younger sister, Kathryn, was born. They turned most of their attention on their new baby girl, and for that, Andy was typically jealous. Growing up, the two little girls would often get into fist-fights over the dumbest stuff; at one point, when Andy was eight and Ryn was five, Andy punched her younger sister right smack in the nose, almost breaking it, for calling her "a dumb-head". Wacky kids!

One final Doyle was born a few years later. Some sort of God had answered Gerald's prayers, in which He delivered a boy into the bunch. He was named Nathan and raised to be a Man. Word.

Andy graduated from high school, and, at her mother's request (read: plea), she went to community college. Andy studied English for a little bit, but after only three months, she decided college wasn't for her, and promptly dropped out and moved back into home. Money was getting tight--Ryn was in high school, Nate was in middle school, and jobs as cleaning ladies in little corner stores don't exactly pay well.

Her mother suggested it, so Andy took a job as a waitress in a tiny diner. She would spend the next four years serving people their food and working off tips. Pure hell. But Andy was stubborn, and she sure as s**t didn't want to live on the streets, so she worked hard.

And then one day, Andy found a contest ad in a magazine, something about winning a raffle for an all-expenses paid vacation to a Caribbean island...

Likes: Smoking, beer, lemonade, cats, reading, writing, big dogs, gummy bears, horror movies, Mountain Dew, pixie stix, Oreos, big hoodies, over-sized jeans, contact lenses (especially the kind that help you see!), birdies, taking really long, really hot showers.

Dislikes: Math, classwork, assholes, obnoxious pop stars, when your socks come off in your shoes while you're walking, writing essays, iced tea, explaining the formula for photosynthesis, her job, conservatives, people with no goddamn concept of deodorant, cleaning kitty litter, when her glasses break (which happens just often enough for Andy to want to punch a baby in the head), picking up other people's stuff, the bad taste in her mouth that pops up every damn morning, her glasses.

About Swans

User Image ; User Image ; User Image

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Anseriformes
Family: Anatidae
Genus: Cygnus

Distribution:

This bird is found naturally mainly in temperate areas of Europe and western Asia. It is not migratory, although some populations must move in winter when waterways and lakes freeze. They are sometimes found at the coast, particularly in winter, rather than solely being birds of inland waters.

For aesthetic reasons, this species is often kept in captivity, in areas where it is not native, in order to decorate parks and ponds. The descendants of such birds have become naturalised in the eastern United States and Great Lakes, much as the Canada Goose has done in Europe. In some locations, such as Chesapeake Bay, the numbers of these feral birds have increased to the point where they are considered pests because they compete with native birds for habitat and food.

Description:

Adults of this large swan range from 125-155 cm long with a 200-240 cm wingspan. They may stand over 1.2 m (four feet) tall. Males are larger than females and have a larger knob on their bill. The Mute Swan is one of the heaviest flying birds, with males weighing more than 12kg (27 lb), and females more than 11 kg (25 lb).

Its size, orange-reddish bill and white plumage make this swan almost unmistakable. The most similar species is Whooper Swan, but that has a yellow and black bill, and lacks the curved "swan" neck, is longer and heavier and lacks the characteristic projection above the bill.

Young birds, called "cygnets", are not the bright white of mature adults, and lack the bright orange bill. The color of the down may be a dull white or gray, and controversy exists over whether the color is related to their gender.

Behaviour:

Mute Swans nest on large mounds that they build in the middle of a shallow lake. These monogamous birds reuse the same nest each year, restoring or rebuilding it as needed. Male and female swans share the care of the nest, and once the cygnets are fledged it is not uncommon to see whole families looking for food. They feed on submerged aquatic vegetation, reached with their long bills.

Although this bird can be tame, especially to those who feed it daily, it is aggressive in defence of its nest, and its size and impressive hissing make it a formidable adversary for animals as large as a fox; a grunt, on the other hand, may be a positive signal. There have been many reports of Mute Swans attacking people who enter their territory.

However, the Mute Swan is less vocal than the noisy Whooper and Bewick's Swans; the most familiar sound associated with Mute Swan is the whooshing of the wings in flight once this bird has laboriously taken off from the water. The phrase Swan song refers to this swan and to the completely false, famous, ancient legend that it is utterly silent until the last moment of its life, and sings one achingly beautiful song just before dying.

Unlike Black Swans, Mute Swans are strongly territorial. The familiar pose with neck curved back and wings half raised is a threat display.

The Mute Swan is protected in most of its range, but this has not prevented illegal hunting and poaching.
