Selinur liked to go out in the winter, enjoyed the cold n** in the air, it wasn’t nearly cold enough for him but it would do. He knew by now that there were other places on this planet that were colder, that saw a longer winter, and if not for the fighting in this city he’d have moved there. This planet needed him here, in this one place, because the fighting was here and not elsewhere. It was why he enjoyed what he could of this places winter, because it wouldn’t last and he knew it, his boots thunked against the ground as he walked.
His tail swayed behind him, hidden by his coat, as he meandered about the city park with his ears moving as it picked up whatever they could. So far no one was around, no one was too close, maybe he’d get lucky and run into a fellow senshi before he turned in for the night. But it was getting late and it wasn’t looking likely.

Sitting in that run-down Victorian, keeping an eye out that nobody drew near, Portia found herself annoyed as she saw someone approaching. They looked foxlike, from what she could tell with the distance between the run-down home and the park nearby. It was normally less crowded which was nice, outside of that one woman who left her books and things on her doorstep. She wasn’t sure how she felt, that that odd person was helping her, but she had liked the fact they had just left things and not pushed for interaction.
Powering up and clearing the threshold, she crossed the snow quickly as she narrowed her eyes at this approaching intruder. Something felt familiar about the features she noticed, pulling at a memory about one of the other worlders who had deemed it necessary to visit and try to enter the library and glean information about the future. She’d kept everyone out, as was her duty, but she didn’t appreciate the attempt and underhanded tactics some of them used.
Towering over the fox-like senshi, she looked down at them and rested a hand on her hip. “Who are you?” That coldness seeped into her voice as she nearly glared at them. She didn’t like anyone getting close, she didn’t want anyone to disturb her yet here someone was.

He’d felt them before they came, another senshi, they weren’t as strong though he wasn’t worried since they were the same. It seemed however, as they fast approached, that perhaps he should be worried. They weren’t friendly and he could see that a mile away, in how they moved, and their voice confirmed it as did their facial expression.
“Selinur, and you?” He didn’t hold out a hand, it wasn’t his peoples thing, now did he bow or anything similar. He stared up at her with pale blue eyes, his blond hair moved in the chilly air behind him. “Another ancient.” How nice, another ancient like himself, it was good to see others like himself even ones like Roka who disliked him. They were old, ancient by standards of this planet, and due to their age they’d known of each other, formed alliences, learned to hate each other and other things. They came with histories and stories, knowledge, and experiences which had shaped them each in different ways. They weren’t all in agreement and it felt like each one of them brought a new dimension to the senshi here on this planet, made things more complicated, but it couldn’t be helped.
He knew there were many who didn’t like him, or his people, and that could make working together on this planet difficult. He expected it and didn’t much care, he’d work with who he could, he wasn’t going to apologize for the past or make up for it - it was the past. He was planning on things which needed changing on his planet, once things were fixed there…and whenever life took hold again.

Clicking her tongue, she knew she’d recognized things and it soured her mood more. “Of course you are.” Her tone was flat as she shook her head at them. They looked so young, like a child in her opinion, much like most of the Selinorians had from what she’d read.
“No need for you to know my name, little secret dealer. Your people caused me enough trouble before everything else happened.” In part she half wondered if they’d sent that thing to her world. It didn’t really change much though if they did or if it was just bad luck.
“Vocal Cipher.” Another movement and her magic radiated from her, sure it wouldn’t hurt anyone but she was already tired of them in her presence.

“Secret dealer, you’ve no proof of any such secret dealings.” No one ever had, they’d kept their secrets locked away, kept behind strong doors and whispered about only amongst their own. It was, as it always had been, slander and unprovable. “Lies and slander.” He added though it seemed his words, while they passed his lips, gave no sound as they left his mouth. How interesting this bit of magic was….oh how useful it could be, though sadly the Negaverse’s officers didn’t use magic so had no need for words. Not like this, one on one, but in battles it could be useful.
This bit of information, if not already archived, would be written down and filed away in multiple places. She knew him, because of course she did, she was as old as he was perhaps even older. He’d need to look into who she was, since she wasn’t going to assist him in that, he’d find out though…he had a way with knowledge and finding things out.

She didn’t need proof, not when anyone tried to enter the library and its archives. Maybe it wasn’t this one specifically but she didn’t like any outsiders. Maybe the one half-blind woman, but there wasn’t a single other world she’d deemed worth her time between her duties. They were all ignorant of the way of fate, even if she herself could only access some of the future’s information on her world.
It had been too long since she’d been able to glean anything from the books since that cursed cipher had leaked into every book and every lifetime. Even if the words didn’t come, she was smart enough to read lips.
Stepping forward she shoved them before pulling something from her subspace. It was a mundane sort of thing, something the woman had left her alongside the latest stack of books, but a pen stabbed into them would probably be a good deterrent to keep this fox from her hideout.

Taking a stumbling step back, not too surprised at her actions, given her obvious dislike of him and his people, she was going on the same list as Roka in his mind. It was another who didn’t like him, or his people, and who perpetuated that falsehood about his planet and his people. It was a narrative which had been fought, calmly and elegantly, for so long his people had given it up and decided to ignore all the baseless rumors and whispers. What did they matter when people still flocked to the planet to hold diplomatic meetings there anyway? They still had played host to business men, women, and everything and everyone in between not to mention all the royals and diplomats who came and went. Why remind them of those nasty rumors? Let them forget those things and relax while on Selinur…enjoying the winter climate and the sights, while they handled all the business they needed to. Never mind being spied upon…
It seemed however she really didn’t like him, Roka hadn’t even tried to stab him yet, and here she was stabbing him with a pen. He’d jerked back, trying to avoid the sudden attack, but the pen's tip sunk into his upper arm and he shouted something as it sunk into his flesh, past his uniform, and lodged itself there. Yanking his arm back, blood staining the white of his uniform, he lifted a booted foot and kicked out at her. He did not plan to get too close to this one.

Sliding back from the kick, she felt the wind knocked out of her and would have fallen over if not for the treeline. Leaning against one of the trees for support, she glared at them as the coded symbols faded from the air. It never seemed to last, not as long as it used to, which was frustrating.
“I have more if you test me. Don’t come over this way again.” Pushing herself up, she pulled one of the books from subspace, something called a dictionary, and squinted as she tried to gauge how best to throw it to hit them. Only if they didn’t leave of course, which she very much thought would be a smart decision considering she could see them bleeding and the ink starting to leak from the pen. That couldn’t be very good for them, poor thing, but she was pleased nonetheless. It felt good to lash out, something she hadn’t been able to do while trapped for a thousand years in one building.

“I can see that.” Nodding to the book she was yielding, he had no doubt she’d throw it at him, somehow a book seemed well suited to her just as much as a pen did. He didn’t say this, figuring this violent one would take that as reason enough to throw the book at him, and he really didn’t want to risk the damage it could cause him.
“Fine, but don’t expect me to help when you make a move to restore your planet. You can manage that on your own.” As he doubted she’d find any help with that kind of attitude, assuming she was like this with everyone. It couldn’t just be him - right?
Now he’d need to power down and get to looking like a human, which he detested, and have a hospital check him out…just lovely. He’d been trying to avoid those places, in case anything turned up as odd. Backing away he turned slowly and headed off, not powering down till he was a safe distance away. Once he’d powered down he took on that awful human glamor, how boring he looked, he hated looking so…human.
