Achird relished the nights when, on patrol, he actually encountered someone he could fight. Anger constantly bubbled just under the surface of his skin, and attacking some b*****d who was out killing normal folks was a wonderful outlet. Tonight, he spent his time leaping from roof to roof as silently as he could manage, seeking with his aura senses for any Chaos malefactors. He craved a good beat down tonight, to the point that when he finally sensed a Lieutenant's aura near him, he grinned a touch maniacally. Good. If it was someone on his level, he would have a much better chance of walking away. He wasn't quite arrogant enough to attack someone who had a definite upper hand over him in terms of magical prowess.

he headed towards the aura, and upon seeing the Lieutenant with a civilian—good—it didn't matter what the guy was actually doing, draining or starseeding, because he had his excuse now. Not that he would have needed one, but some people got so pretentious about that sort of thing. Who needed to try to convince these guys to turn over a new leaf and purify? They made their terrible choices, Achird thought they ought to live with them—or die with them.

Grinning just a little more, he dropped lower, carefully sliding down the fire escapes to get to a point he could leap off and most likely hit his target when he jumped. He had to fight the urge to give a shout when he finally flung himself from the railing and dove straight for the Lieutenant, legs first.

This sort of ambush was new. Honestly, it had Diaboleite questioning his choice to switch from parks to quiet alleyways--sure, he'd gotten attacked plenty in public, but now he was getting attacked in new and unpleasant ways, like being jumped on from above.

Honestly, it was getting ridiculous. Surely there couldn't be this many people with such harsh moral objections to things like energy draining. Or did the people with reasonable moral systems end up with Chaos?

Diaboleite hurled the civilian away from him, towards a nearby pile of garbage bags, and twisted around, swinging his fist as he went with the aim of hitting whoever had attacked him. It took him a moment to register for certain that this was one of those alien bastards--antlers and deer ears confirmed it--and honestly, that just made him more willing to go for it violently.

It wasn't the same one that had smacked him around, obviously, but it was another like him, and Diaboleite was all too happy to make all of them pay for the crimes of one.

Achird took the punch on the chin and grinned even more, sadistically (or maybe masochistically, he couldn't tell). Good. This man knew how to fight. He craved it the way Achird did.

"I'd stop draining people, if I were you," he said with an almost bubbly laugh, swinging out with an elbow towards Diaboleit's solar plexus. "Aubergine resilience."

Maybe it was cheating, a little bit, to use his magic, but he didn't care. The power swelled in him like it always had, swirled and then—sputtered and died, the flower blooms dying and crumbling rapidly before he even had the chance to feel any effects.

Ah. ******** class="quote">

Achird speaks the name of his attack, and aubergine flowers bloom in a ten-foot radius around him. Allies within the radius become more durable and resistant to damage, with attacks from his rank being fully deflected and attacks from one rank above him being reduced by half. This magic does not affect attacks from characters stronger than that. These effects last for 30 seconds, and Achird can use this spell three times per battle.

Every single one of these idiots was so very determined that they were going to stop him from draining forever. What a genuinely comedic prospect. Honestly, Diaboleite had to assume that it was all self-serving--that they said it so they could say they'd tried to persuade him, rather than it actually meaning anything at all. Surely they had to know that he was not going to change just because someone insulted him once.

Or perhaps they were all very egotistical and very, very stupid. That was always a possibility.

"No." A simple, flat retort. This idiot deserved nothing better. He twisted away from the elbow aimed at his solar plexus--it still caught him in the side, and that hurt, but it didn't drive the breath from him the way a direct hit would.

And to his delight, he watched the Senshi attempt to use his magic...and fail.

Oh, that was a lovely thing.

"Perhaps you should worry about yourself first," he said, and then he swung his own fist for the same center mass on the deer-man. Hopefully they had relatively similar anatomy to a human's, and that would work to knock him at least part of the way down.

The shock of his magic failing to work distracted him, and the punch to his own solar plexus sent him sprawling to the ground and wheezing. ********. This wasn't good. He curled in on himself, shuddering and trying to regain his breath as quickly as he could. The longer his back was open, the longer the stupid Chaos Agent had the chance to reach into his back and steal his starseed.

Oh, by the ******** meadows, nausea crawled up his throat, too. He couldn't even speak, dared not open his mouth. None of this was okay right now. How could he recover from it? He needed to figure this out. But thinking was hard, when he needed to to try to suck in breath through his teeth and not gasp for it like a drowning man.

Ah, yes. The sweet taste of victory. It would have been all too easy to bend down, reach in, remove this Senshi's starseed and end him. Butt hat was...well, it was too easy.

He strode over, and drove his boot into the Senshi's back, hard. A solid kick to really emphasize that he had won.

"I'm going to do you a kindness, alien. I'm going to turn around and walk away. And I'm going to let you live. But I want you to remember that I let. You. Live. You did not win. You did not escape by cleverness or guile or strength. And the next time you think to jump an officer of the Negaverse, remember that they aren't likely to be nearly as kind as I am."

He shouldn't gloat, but given the opportunity, a little monologue was perhaps justified. He'd won, anyway.

And as he'd promised, he turned on his heels to walk away, leaving the foolish Senshi on the ground among the trash.
