Of all the things she'd ever expected to see or encounter, seeing a small senshi fleeing from a youma didn't even crack the top twenty. The youma itself was small, sleek and panther like. And it was gaining on the little senshi who seemed a whirl of soft pink and orange. Cuan didn't like youma, for quite obvious reasons. And she couldn't stand by and allow one to chase a senshi with impunity. Darting through the shadows, she managed to keep pace until she saw a chance to put her just ahead of the strange pair. Leaping into a nearly leafless tree, she took the few precious seconds she'd stolen and prepared herself. Crouching, she concentrated and felt her forehead grow hot. Then, the senshi appeared and right behind them, the youma. Hissing in defiant disgust, Cuan let her forehead lazer erupt, managing to strike the youma right in its ugly red eye. The vile thing made a strange, querlous growl deep in it's throat before falling over stunned. It was a pity that she couldn't dust the noxious beast, but right now? She'd take what she could get. Leaping from the tree onto the senshi's back, she clung on tight and yowled. "Get us out of here! Turn there! I can hide us as long as you get us out of that thing's line of sight before it wakes up!" Perhaps it wasn't the most polite of meetings, but they could have the niceties once she was certain that they were safe. And in the meantime, she allowed herself a vengeful, grating purr. Saiph would be so pleased once she knew that Cuan had lazered a youma and all by herself! Noir Songbird it's a clumsy start but words were managed!

Honestly, Tianyi was really starting to dislike these uncomfortable occasions with him, a youma, and someone having to intervene. Sometimes, he felt like maybe he ought to...well, do something about it.
But every time he tried, he felt ill, and so that just...wasn't going to happen, probably. He didn't need more things to have nightmares about.
And this time, he was lucky, because once again, someone came to his rescue. And by the light weight and the claws digging into his shoulder--a Mauvian.
The Mauvian that had Awakened him had died not long after. Old, and Tianyi now knew, likely not well due to the influences of Chaos. And here was another, so happy to help him, and--
"Right, yes," he said, and he ran in the direction she indicated, ducking around to put some distance between himself and the youma.
Once they were far enough away, he paused, to catch his breath if nothing else.
"Thank you," he said. "I'm really very terrible at fighting, and, um, being a Senshi, really, and--anyway, thanks!"

Now that the danger was past, Cuan was feeling rather more pleased with the world. When the little senshi paused, she took the opportunity to leap from his shoulder to a handy stack of boxes and promptly plunked herself down for a good face-washing. Once her whiskers were impeccable, she raised her head and stared at the senshi, eyes immediately drawn to his ears and... tail?
"Oh, another one of you," she said in mild surprise. "Let me see, let me see... You're powered, so you clearly have a pen. Got your phone?"
For the moment, she was willing to ignore his words in favor of practicalities. But even a bad fighter should still be willing to fight! She'd bring it up once she was certain that this strange senshi wasn't in any mundane trouble.
"Are you injured? Everything attached the way it should be?"

Oh, good, this Mauvian was acquainted with alien Senshi, that meant that she hopefully wouldn't need too many explanations of who Tianyi was or where he was from or any of that heavy stuff.
"I do, yes! The Senshi who found me made sure I got all the important things so I can do things here." That, at least, was helpful. And one way in which he was not a complete failure as a Senshi.
"And I'm fine! It didn't manage to get me before you got it, so everything's where it should be and I'm not bleeding or anything!" Honestly, Tianyi's definition of "okay" mostly meant "alive," but in this case it was true that he was whole and uninjured. "I'm very good at running away, if nothing else."

"Very good!" the kitten said, lifting a paw to flex and study her claws. Still sharp. So their little run hadn't broken anything as she'd clung to the senshi. Nodding to herself, she finally turned bright blue-green eyes on to the senshi and sighed.
"While I am thrilled that you're unharmed, I must say your performance was concerning. Is your magic that useless in a fight?"
Realizing that she may have crossed a line into Rudeness, the little lykoi winced and stood up to pace along the box top.
"Please don't misunderstand me. I know there are peaceful senshi out there and I applaud that sort of strength. But they all know how to at least defend themselves! Had an officer been with that youma and directing it, you would have been lucky to simply be torn to shreds."
She didn't want to think about what a sufficiently strong enough officer could have done with this little strange senshi. Yes, in such a case, death would be kinder. Deciding to switch tactics, she leapt back onto the senshi and scrambled atop his head.
"I'm hungry," she declared. "Are you hungry? I know a place that I can sneak food from for us. I think we need to talk, little senshi and it may take some time, so we may as well fortify ourselves."
Leaning forward so that he would see her upside down face, she reached out with a wee paw and tapped his nose encouragingly.
"Head north about four blocks. The bodega I'm thinking of has a marvelous snack selection. And their usual evening clerk is too busy playing on her phone to ever notice me"
Noir Songbird dammit, i thought i had replied to this! i'm sorry!

Tianyi wilted a little. Disappointing a Mauvian felt especially bad, given how hard they all must be working to help so many Senshi reincarnated here on Earth. And here he was, adding to her burdens by just being entirely useless.
"Um, actually, depending on the fight, my magic can be kind of useful? It makes people want to listen to me. But it doesn't always work, and, I..." He wilted, guiltily. "I don't like fighting. I feel bad doing it. I was raised--my people didn't--"
But all of that had been lies. All of that had been carefully constructed falsehoods to present a view of a world that was not the one that had really existed, before the Chaos came. It had been a pretty set of lies, certainly, but lies nonetheless.
"I just...I don't like violence. At all. Any kind. So I do a lot of running."
Maybe he could hold onto the lies. Maybe if he told himself them enough, they could be true. It wasn't like there were any other Tianyians out there to betray them anymore.
At least she wasn't abandoning him to his fate for the rest of the evening.
"Some food sounds nice," he said, "but we won't have to sneak anything, I can pay for it."
At least he could give something back to the Mauvian who was helping him out, and make good use of the money Kiyoshi had given him. So he wasn't completely useless.

”Silly child,” Cuan admonished, idly batting at one of Tianyi’s ears and ignoring the oddness of a kitten calling anyone else a child, “didn’t I just say that I understand peaceful senshi exist? Someday, you’ll have to tell me if it is the act of fighting or that there is a need to fight that distresses you so much. Run if you must, but at least have some reliable tricks up your sleeve for the times when running won’t work.”
She found the senshi’s rationalizing fascinating and a little sad. Had his world been so tranquil that the idea of fighting terrified him? Or had he had such violence visited upon him that he couldn’t bear to visit it upon others? She wanted to ask, but tact kept her from doing so. They’d only just met after all and she’d already roped him into bodega raiding after he’d been chased by a youma. He needed time to unruffle.
“Well, I suppose you could pay,” she said a little archly. “Though that spoils all my fun in sneaking. How else am I supposed to go viral and surpass that dratted scottish seagull if you insist on being gentlemanly?”
The complaint was good natured and she did appreciate it. As they got closer to the bodega, she considered. Then, her paw snuck down to bat against the senshi’s forehead once again.
“A compromise,” she declared. “This city is known for oddness, but I’m afraid you’ll draw too much attention. While there is a chance someone might think you’re a harmless Furry, why take the risk. So I will be an honest cat and leave your money on the counter. Sound fair? Now, tell me what sort of munchables you’re craving so we can eat!”
There would be time to lecture and cajole later. Right now, she decided, this little senshi just needed some food and company and she was happy enough to provide both. There would always be other times to talk about more than the weather.
